Lyra Ventor
Character
Lyra looked out across the gap and immediately understood why he had asked if she was ready. The distance wasn't impossible, but it was certainly far enough that she had no desire whatsoever to attempt it on her own. Her eyes tracked the route the engineer had indicated, following rooftops and overgrown structures disappearing into the canopy beyond. Somewhere along the way, exploring hidden ruins had become normal enough that her first concern wasn't the jump itself, but what they were likely to find after making it.
"You know, I miss the days when my biggest travel decision was whether a landing zone looked muddy," she said with a small sigh. "Now apparently I'm evaluating rooftop leaps across ancient observatories while discussing Force illusionists and giant spiders."
The complaint lacked any real conviction.
The mention of the engineer earned a glance downward. The Anzellan was still muttering a steady stream of complaints, several of which sounded suspiciously directed at both of them. Lyra crouched and carefully scooped him up before he could object too loudly, settling him into one of the larger utility pockets on her jacket with only his head and arms sticking out. The resulting barrage of indignant noises only made her smile wider.
"There. Safe, secure, and close enough to continue insulting us," she informed him. "Everybody wins."
Straightening again, she stepped closer to Syn and rested a hand lightly against his shoulder while looking out over the jump one last time. The nervous flutter in her stomach was there, but it wasn't fear anymore. Not really. They had made it this far together, and somewhere between the spiders, the visions, and the impossible valley, trusting him had stopped being a conscious decision and simply become natural.
"I'm ready," she said, warmth touching her voice as she looked toward him. "If this ends with us dangling from a tower while our tiny mechanic laughs at us, I'm blaming you."
Despite the words, she moved closer without hesitation, ready to follow wherever the next mystery led.
