Culture: The Asha’ladier revere technology as both the life giver and life taker. Every aspect of the planet’s culture is affected by technology, and the advancement of it. The planet is led by a council for elders, all of whom in some way advanced technology in their life.
Technology: A Rakata tech planet, the Asha’ladier spend their entire lives in pursuit of more advanced technology. However as they were never given access to the Rakatan’s more advanced technologies, and have no access to off world resources, their technology has stayed at about modern Galactic levels for millennium, unable to significantly advance.
History: Originally the Asha’ladier people were primitive, but even then it was obvious that they had a mind uniquely gifted toward engineering. The planet Hebrides (Life Cradle in the anchient tongue of the Asha’ladier) circles the yellow star Asha (God of Fire) at the edge of its habitable zone making the planet naturally very cold. However the slightly larger size and dense iron core have created a higher gravity than standard which allows for a thicker atmosphere with a more active carbon-dioxide cycle. Because of this cycle the summers are cool, but comfortable to humans.

This weather has steered the native people’s technology, as even before they could force advanced materials they had learned advanced engineering techniques to build shelters for the winter either into the ground or the giant mushroom shaped fungi known as Kajha, which had a high density core to support themselves in the high gravity and light fluffy top to prevent it from crashing down. At some time early in the Infinite Empire’s reign, the Rakata discovered the nearby planet. Studying the species they recognize the engineering brilliance, and saw how it might be useful in advancing their already considerable tech base. It was then that the Rakata enslaved the entire planet, and introduced the species to higher technology.

Not realizing they had been enslaved, rather seeing the Rakata as Demi-Gods sent by Asha to give them the gift of technology, the planet soon united behind the Infinite Empire and was soon the source of many advancements. Not wanting their technology to be used against them, and fearing the Asha’ladier might one day rebel, the Rakata sealed the entire planet in a shield that allows only energy to pass through. The shield emitters are outside the planet, making it impossible for the Asha’ladier to free themselves.

After the fall of the Infinite Empire, the planet was forgotten and left isolated. In the absence of their Rakata masters, the Asha’ladier were forced to find a new way to govern themselves. Having only known technological advancement as a system of reward for so long under the Rakata, it became natural to extend this into their new government. So a council of elders was formed, with the requirement for membership being having advanced technology in some significant fashion.

Eventually the species reached the limit of what their engineering skills could accomplish using only the local material, forcing them to recycle continuously just to maintain their standard of living. Over time the definition of “significant fashion” became more and more relaxed as it became harder for the council of elders to replenish its ranks. Now in modern times they continue to work away on their planet, sealed away from the outside world. The only indication they still exist a transmission to Rakata Prime transmitted night and day in the hopes one of their Rakatan masters will return and free them.
Notable PC's: None

Intent: To add a planet to the fairly empty Unknown Regions, and to give the Atrisian Empire a possible story that involves encountering this species. Ideally the species will be eventually integrated into the Atrisian Empire
