- Midvinter
- City Name: Heavenheim
- Classification: Metropolis
- Location: Midvinter; Westmark
- Affiliation: Thurion Heavenshield; House Heavenshield
- Population: Crowded
- Demographics: As the capital of the Valkyri, naturally they make up the vast majority of the city's population, though there are noticeable percentages of other races intermingled. The old prejudices are largely a bygone memory, though some Valkyri are less welcoming of outsiders than others.
- Valkyri: 85%
- Beorni: 10%
- Aelvar: 5%
- Wealth: Wealthy; Midvinter's lack of a currency and heavy focus on bartering requires that each household pull their weight, i.e. devote themselves to a profession beneficial to the city. Being the most populous of all, Heavenheim is able to hoard the most raw materials, trade goods, and provisions due to collective effort. In terms of material wealth, they are considered wealthy by the planet's standard.
- Stability: High; This is the seat of the High King and home to the majority of House Heavenshield, and where their influence is the most powerful.
- Freedom & Oppression: [ Describe the atmosphere of freedom in this city. Are the people fairly free or is oppression of society and commerce heavy? Does it have a dictatorial ruler? Is fear of the ruling body prevalent? Relaxed and open? Is anything unusual illegal or permitted? ]
- Description: [ Provide a description of this city at a glance. More in-depth descriptions can be added in points of interest. ]
- The Lion's Den: The seat of the High King, this magnificent castle with its tall spires and billowing banners stands vigil over the rest of the city, located atop a hill and surrounded by mustering grounds and courtyards. Within the Lion holds court upon his throne with ultimate authority, his kingly hall decorated with tapestries of great deeds and wars won. Stained glass windows bathe the throneroom in every colour imaginable when aglow in the afternoon sun, and banners sporting the coat of arms of every Valkyri clan line the walls and pillars. Deeper within the palace can be found his office, the royal chambers, and a private training facility.
- The Gryphon Eyrie: The tallest tower in the city, it houses the eternal guardians of Heavenheim — the mighty gryphons. Their nest atop the Eyrie ranks among the most dangerous places on Midvinter due to the sheer ferocity of the winged beasts, as they will not hesitate to skewer any perceived threat at the drop of a hat. Only the High King and his kin might enter unmolested, as each child born to House Heavenshield is exposed to the living sigil of Heavenheim at an early age.
- The Kingswood: This forested area of the city acts as a public park and place of renewal, named in loving reference to the High King's frequent visits. It is where the veil between the spirit world and material realm is said to be among the thinnest, and many come here to hold communion with the Gods or hold sacred rituals.
- Hearthstone Emporium: The grandest marketplace on the planet, the Emporium sees hundreds of traders and merchants barter goods from around the world. It is the beating heart of the capital, capable of ensnaring any bystander into perusing its many stalls. Here the Founding Fathers stand vigilant; two mighty statues depicting the last two kings of Midvinter, with a third base left empty with the intention of Thurion joining them when his duty is done.
- The Straits of the Setting Sun:
- The Golden Gulf:
- Brothers-At-Arms Monument:
- Heaven's Harbour:
- Companion Regimental Headquarters:
- The Mausoleum: Entered through a steel gate, the mausoleum houses the hallowed remains of great heroes in a vast underground hall, complete with monuments and runestones raised in memory of the fallen. Though cremation is customary, it is not unusual for a grieving family to set up private shrines where they might commune with their ancestors.
Maximum and any specific security assets in list format. What defenses does this location have, including internal and perimeter defenses? Please note that the rating is relative to the type of location this is. Normal civilian locations have a different scope in security, compared to military locations. As such a primarily civilian location with a Maximum security rating is not on the same level as a military base with a Maximum rating. Consider the 'Stability' and 'Freedom and Oppression' fields when working on this section, and make sure these reflect each other in your final submission. Please link rare or uncommon tech/equipment to the SW wiki article or Factory-approved submission. Common canon items do not need to be linked. ]
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
[ Include a description on the city's history here. Detail how it came to be created and why. Talk about the people involved in this city's history and expansion; and what role it played and still plays. For historical cities, if you so desire, you can include events from the Chaos Canon timeline or board history where appropriate. ]
