SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Advanced sensor package
  • Designed for stealth
  • Versatile design
Strengths:
  • Stealthy...- Designed to have a low radar cross section and noise signature, in order to make detection more difficult.
  • Advanced Sensor Package- Uses multispectrum sensors to locate and track targets, capable of detecting a wide variety of markers used to designate targets as well.
  • Self Directed- The onboard assassin droid brain can cross reference sensor feedback against known parameters to autonomously seek out targets if none are designated. Parameters can include things like uniform, species, presence or lack of infrared markers, whether or not potential target is armed, etc. NOTE: Parameters must be uploaded before start of mission. It can also use sensor feedback in conjunction with preprogrammed data to determine the safest route to a potential target.
  • Versatile- The proprietary submunitions come with a wide variety of payloads, and multiple payloads can be loaded at once, allowing the Heathen Hammer to service multiple targets on a single flight.
  • Urban Cowboy- Optimized for use in a city. Cities allow for multiple avenues of approach to the target, and since the Heathen Hammer floats several meters above the target, it's not worried about things like road blocks or rubble.
Weaknesses:
  • ...But Not Too Stealthy- Only protected from casual observation. Though the chaos of an urban battlefield has a tendency to make troops focus only on what's in front of them, all anyone has to do to realize it's there is look up.
  • Low and Slow- The Heathen Hammer has a maximum altitude of 15 meters and a top speed of 30 kph. It's designed to sneak around above the battlefield, not zip over it. If detected, it's an easy target.
  • Range- The onboard power cells have enough juice for 2 hours of continuous operations. More powerful batteries would have increased the Heathen Hammer's electromagnetic signature. Given its low top speed, it can't get too far away from its handlers. Onboard safety programming prevents it from traveling so far that it can't return to its handlers with at least a 15% reserve for absolute emergencies.
  • Fragile- No shielding and no armor. Although the carbon fiber shell is strong enough to protect from casual knocks, just about any sort of small arms fire can take it down.
  • Prototype- As the Heathen Hammer is only a prototype, it's not designed to be fielded in a real world environment. As such, it lacks shielding against EMP or other electromagnetic interference, protection from slicers, and other protections that a mass produced model might include. Additionally, the design is not optimized for mass production. The eventual customer will have to take care of that.
  • City Slicker- Trying to use it anywhere but a city will almost certainly result in the destruction of the Heathen Hammer.
DESCRIPTION
The Heathen Hammer is not your average assassin droid. It's more closely related to a cruise missile than any sort of droid, but uses an assassin droid's brain, along with its sensor package, to seek out and eliminate potential targets.

In order to accomplish its mission, the Heathen Hammer has a few pieces of specialized hardware. The first is the assassin droid brain itself. Unlike battle droids, which are better suited for frontal assault than anything resembling stealth, the assassin droid brain is designed to be sneaky. It hides until the time is right, then sneaks up above and behind the target to rain down death and destruction.

In order to service the target, the Heathen Hammer relies on a wide variety of submunitions, listed below. The submunitions are fed guidance from the droid brain, which uses its sensor package to determine what the target is and how best to attack it, and then the submunition is ejected. Although the submunitions have no propulsion, they use fins and drogue chutes to guide themselves to the target.
  • High Explosive (HE)- Standard explosive bomblets. Versatile, but not optimized for any one mission.
  • Anti Armor- Shaped charge delivery system designed to explode above the target, where armor tends to be weakest.
  • Firecracker (FC)- Antipersonnel bomblets. Uses a fragmenting fiberglass casing to send slivers of deadly shrapnel into and through the target. Although each bomblet only has a potentially lethal range of about two meters, an FC submunition carries three, and disperses them in an overlapping triangular sheaf. Not much us against armor, but the tiny fiberglass fragments have a nasty habit of finding gaps.
  • Stun (ST)- Contains a large tibanna reservoir and high capacity power cell. Detonates a meter above the ground, sending stun bolts in all directions.
  • Porcupine (PC)- Functionally identical to the ST submunition, but with full strength blaster bolts.
  • Disruptor (DS)- Fires a single powerful disruptor bolt directly above the target's head.
  • Tear Gas (CS)- Emits a cloud of nonlethal but very painful teargas. Useful for crowd control.
  • Multipurpose Gas (MG)- Can be loaded with the customer's chemical agent of choice.
  • Thermal Detonator (TD)- Thermal detonator with 5 meter blast radius
Although the Heathen Hammer can be left to its own devices, it's most effective with preprogrammed targeting parameters in mind. After the mission is complete, the droid will take the safest route back to its handlers to be reloaded, reprogrammed, and have its batteries swapped out or recharged.
