Too Stubborn To Die
The words "stronger in the Force" sent chills down the young smuggler's spine. That was all but a confirmation that they were dealing with some sort of Dark Side wielder, though, Gatz wouldn't have suspected any less from this place. Still, it was one thing to theorize about it, but it was another to confirm it. Sith, Dark Jedi, or some sort of cultist... it didn't matter who or what they were facing. All that mattered was that he had absolutely no idea what he could do in this situation.
Aside from cower behind the Jedi Master. Which was a very tempting prospect.
Valery even gave him a way out, offered to let him return to the ship without a fuss. Not that she would have had the right to stop him, because the only stipulation they'd talked about was him transporting her to the planet. He really could just turn on his heel and wait things out aboard The Red Night. In any other situtation, he'd already be halfway back to his vessel. It was just the smart thing to do.
But deep down, he knew that if he ran now, and something happened to Master Noble, something that he might have been able to prevent... well, Gatz didn't think he'd sleep very well for quite some time.
"I'd very much prefer 'not to get into it,'" Gatz admitted freely, "but I can't justify abandoning you to deal with it on your own. I certainly wish I could, but I can't."
Gatz sighed what might turn out to be his last sigh.
"And... if things had just been a little bit different," Gatz was surprised by the regret in his own tone, "I'd have been a Jedi myself. And confronting the Dark Side is the destiny of a Jedi."
