Harry Potter and the Jedi Temple

"Another power that would be useful for the kind of vigilante you want to become is pyrokinesis. With that you can disarm opponents by heating up their weapons. I'm preparing a chandelier here, where you will attempt lighting the fire on the candle wicks"

[member="Stephanie Brown"] might have more power than the average Jedi that is just learning telekinesis, but is still nonetheless a padawan. Nevertheless, advanced padawans should use pyrokinesis for disarming opponents, and not necessarily to burn the opponents themselves to a crisp. Cathul prepares a chandelier with three training candles on them, not unlike the candles made of eco-sensitive wax used by several members of the Admiralty in the Admiralty meetings. These scented candles Stephanie is about to light up are part of Therapy Command's inventory of such candles. As for the chandelier, it is placed right in front of Stephanie so that she could light the candle without having to worry about range. Some onlookers, who came to Coruscant using Star Tours, saw the whole scene being played out because the transparisteel windows made it so that each training room was compared to a zoo cage by the padawans using them.

"Who's that padawan? The padawan is playing with fire!" the first tourist outside the training room commented.

"Probably someone who wants to train in pyrokinesis, I suppose"

Stephanie would look at the candles and focus. She had never done this before but she thought of the candle igniting and she knew the properties that made things ignite, they had to have a proper combination of fuel oxygen and a spark. Fuel and Oxygen were already in the room so all Stephanie needed to do was to provide the spark to each individual candle. She would concentrate for a while before focusing herself on lighting the flame. Within seconds she would light the first then the second then the third and so on.

"Unbelievable! That padawan lighted all three candles!" the tourist commented outside the training room, in awe.

"What's next?" the other tourist asked, mystified.

The tourists were watching [member="Stephanie Brown"] and Cathul playing around with a three-candle chandelier and pyrokinesis, courtesy of Star Tours, before moving on to the next training room, where another master-padawan pair is training in another power. While the candles in the chandelier are burning, Cathul is scouring the room for some powdered cream for the last exercise. That's what she did with her last padawan for teaching them cryokinesis: Stephanie would learn it, too. Hopefully Stephanie would be able to turn the content of the bowl of powdered cream into soft ice cream: if she succeeds, they will both eat ice cream and they can move on to the next topic: she believed Stephanie to be advanced enough for learning the mind trick. If her padawan had enough energy left, she would learn Force-stun, too. Once Cathul assembled the bowl of powdered cream, she placed the bowl in front of Stephanie, next to the chandelier:

"The next lesson for today is cryokinesis. Try converting the content of the bowl into ice cream: that involves slowing down the atoms inside the cream"

Stephanie would nod. She knew enough to know that when you slowed the atoms down that it decreased the temperature of said materials. She would focus on it and begin to concentrate. She would begin to slow down the atoms slowly at first but then ramp it up. Within 30 seconds she would have the ice cream cold as any ice cream ever

[member="Cathul Thuku"]

"Now, let's eat the ice cream, shall we? By the time we are done eating the ice cream, you will learn something extra"

Better not make her learn too many things at once, she thought, while knowing that taking 30 seconds to turn the powdered cream into ice cream was pretty much par for the course for a beginner in cryokinesis that was a rather advanced padawan. While Cathul began to eat her half of the bowl of soft ice cream, amused tourists positioned outside the training room were laughing when they saw [member="Stephanie Brown"] eating the labor of her own cryokinesis training. In one of the tourists, the idea of shooting a short about the hilarious methods used to train the next generation of Jedi crossed their minds. Also, her face is becoming red as she eats the ice cream: is it because she was embarrassed by the setup of the training room or because of the low temperature of the ice cream? It's possible that it was more than one thing acting simultaneously. Before she was finished eating the ice cream, she overheard the conversation between the tourists that visited the Jedi Temple:

"What kind of... cryokinesis instructor would make the student eat what they produce?" the first tourist asked.

"Don't be too harsh on the instructor. If they know what they can use it for, they can practice it much more easily" the second tourist commented.

Steph would eat the ice cream and as she did her face would grow more and more red. She could tell there were some guys checking her out right now. It was unnerving to say the least. But none the less she would continue to eat the ice cream, it tasted pretty good. She would think of how she just made this ice cream using her mind and how cool it was to be able to do that

[member="Cathul Thuku"]

Now it became clear that both had their faces red, especially because many imagined Twi'leks to be some sort of exotic creature; Cathul was pretty stocky, compared to those Twi'leks on the modeling or acting circuits, and white Twi'leks were pretty common across the galaxy, although less so than purple, yellow or green Twi'leks. Clearly these visitors expected her to be slimmer; as she ate her share of the ice cream under their amused eyes, she now fully understood the reason why the Coruscant Jedi Temple was hated for those who wanted to train without making use of the tactical warfare simulation units. These, on the other hand, could be watched on viewscreens just outside the participants' stations. One would readily see ships, attack craft, or, alternatively, troop formations, vehicles, fighting each other, maneuvered by the stations' occupants, as if on a holovid. Granted, she knew that Jedi were sometimes idolized among the Alliance population, but still...

"There is one more lesson for you [member="Stephanie Brown"]. For that, however, you will have to follow me to the cell where the evil-doers you caught yesterday are held"

"Alright lead the way master." Steph said having finished her share of the ice cream. Outside the cell one of the onlookers would hold up his hand with a telephone number on it. He would then mouth the words call me, this did nothing for Stephanie but bring a slightly embarrassed smile to her face. She would then follow her master ot of the room

[member="Cathul Thuku"]

These onlookers were seemingly buzzing the temple day in, and day out, because while it wasn't the original Jedi Temple, as they have seen in their history books, many couldn't tell the difference between any of the historically significant Jedi Temples and this one, but nevertheless attracted thousands of visitors interested in Jedi history, ancient and recent. There were many who wanted nothing better than to date either woman, willing to hand them their phone numbers for that purpose. But, as embarrassed as they are, they pursued their route towards the detention block, where the student would learn the last lessons before [member="Stephanie Brown"] can return home. Yes, Force-healing and mind tricks were often parts of the game as a Jedi, but the detention blocks are in the basement, holding dozens, if not hundreds of small-time criminals; those committing higher-level crimes were often there only on remand. Clearly these evil-doers trembled when they saw Stephanie's face, but not Cathul.

"We have arrived where these evil-doers are imprisoned. Before we move on with the next lesson, I have a few warnings to make about the mind trick: although I know that you will use mind tricks mostly to prevent evil-doers from doing evil, by attempting to prevent evil from being done, sometimes you may unwittingly ruin the life of the mind trick's target"

Steph would listen and wonder why people would use this if it could ruin the life of the target of said power. She would never understand the point but none the less was happy to learn anything she could

[member="Cathul Thuku"]

"As I said, you should only use mind tricks to prevent people from doing evil. The key is to use the Force to change one's thought patterns"

The jail was visited at a much lower rate than the other areas of the prison, and probably for good reason: it was a restricted area. The drug pushers were obviously trembling when they saw Stephanie at the other side of the prison bars. And Cathul couldn't tell exactly what [member="Stephanie Brown"] would attempt to tell these drug pushers with the mind tricks. But for now she realizes that there are unruly prisoners in the cell next to the prisoners Stephanie caught yesterday. Their ruckus was making the whole cell detention block noisy and other prisoners are going to make their complaints heard if they keep it up. She could easily foresee the detention block area becoming a potential area to get a riot started especially if either woman gave in to the demands of the prisoners: letting prisoners go like this would do nothing to help. As for the prisoners themselves: there are vandals, fellow drug pushers (some of the other prisoners are known across the detention block because they committed crimes with and on each other) for the most part.

"All right, Stephanie, here's your chance to practice the mind trick on these prisoners before they riot"

"Now it's clear that you have been making regular use of the Force before I trained you. One last thing before you return home: you might want to scan the prisoners for any injuries. Force-healing is a skill useful to ensure that you will keep on doing vigilante work as a Jedi"

How [member="Stephanie Brown"] has used her Force-power thus far was an all too common tale to her: Force-users drifting from a master to another, or having natural predispositions for certain powers without even bothering to train in other powers. Also other Force-users have been treating masters as they would have a Jedi candy shop. Not even those tourists that visited the Jedi Temple are immune (brig excluded) to that sort of thing. She knew that the likelihood of the warning about Force-healing being heeded decreased as the power level of the learner increased when it initially learned Force-healing, with a sharp drop-off somewhere between what metrologists call low-knight and high-knight, which are power levels of Force-sensitives. Especially since the learning curves of the Force between the moment where people usually get knighted and they gain the title of Master, are pretty long, more than actually steep.

"Before we move on to Force-healing, I have but a warning to deliver. Do not expect near-instant healing every single time. Not long ago I used Force-healing to cure a patient afflicted with a lung cancer with metastases in the patient's brain, and it took me six hours to cure it with Force-healing"

"It appears that the mind-tricked prisoner has some drug residue in his lungs. With Force-healing you can heal a lot of things: your body acts as a conduit for the healing energies of the Force. That way you can administer Force-induced antidotes, medications and also cleaning the insides of various body parts or repair broken body parts"

Again, the Jedi Temple is crowded day in, day out. It was due to attract some of the less savory types, some of those would attempt to hit on Jedi, regardless of whether these are off-world or local tourists. As a result, a cell or two will always be occupied by evil-doers that sexually harass Jedi ladies, but otherwise can fluctuate rather wildly, with Valentines Day being the peak. [member="Stephanie Brown"] was becoming more attractive on the "dating market" and so was Cathul: the former because Stephanie hunts criminals day in, day out, on Coruscant's lower levels, the latter because Cathul is a rising star among the Alliance admiralty. Especially in wartime, high-level officers are seemingly more desirable to date even though the odds of survival of high-level ground officers are usually better than high-level naval officers. Accordingly well-to-do socialites among the upper crust (here mostly coming from Coruscant or other Alliance planets, even though tourists were often coming in from outside Alliance-land, thanks to Star Tours) would attempt to date generals or admirals, Jedi or not.

Steph would nod and then focus, it was hard to imagine herself as a conductor for force energies. Especially with the noise, but she would eventually picture herself in her mind as a conductor. She could see the energy coming from herself and onto the man. She would work hard for about 30 minutes but eventually she could see the cleansing becoming complete. She would stop and the be hit with a sudden wave of nausea.

[member="Cathul Thuku"]

"To be nauseated once the process is complete is often something beginners in Force-healing experience when using Force-healing in noisy or smelly environments, or when the patient is intoxicated: the nausea is often the result of the environmental distractions"

Cathul sensed [member="Stephanie Brown"]'s Force-batteries running low, very low, too low to learn anything new. She might remember the very first time she used Detoxify Poison back when she was the governor of Azure, she had to sneeze afterward, before she could take care of the next patient. On Stephanie's way out from the detention block, she would find that, just outside the detention block, there is a whole exhibit dedicated to the famous criminals caught by Jedi. Which means that Stephanie will get a glimpse of what she has to live up to, should she continue to be a vigilante as a Jedi. Also many visitors are lining up to that section of the temple, as expected of a hot spot in a planet-wide city. Yet that place gave Cathul the creeps, especially if some dark-sider wanted to visit it so that they have an idea of what to do: the exhibits usually recount the crimes of the criminal and their capture. And, strangely enough, they have one spot left with the name Darth Centax on it, without a likeness of the criminal, nor his capture. Just a description of Directive 12.

"Now that you have learned the major stuff I wanted you to learn for today, you may now return home, or wherever else you might have to go to"

Stephanie would glance around and see what she had to live up to. They were quite big shoes to fill but she knew if anyone could do it, it was her. She was exhausted. She decided to just head home until night fell, she would then be back out on the streets fighting crime
