STRENGTHS
- Ship-of-the-Line: The Mk-III Harrower was designed as a mid-size standard warship with equal offensive, defensive, and starfighter capabilities. It can operate sufficiently on its own, but is better synergized with other Imperial starships.
- Jack Of All Trades, Master Of None: The Mk-III Harrower has no real specialization, it's not a full-blown warship bristling with weapons, nor is it a cavernous carrier swollen with starfighters. It can fulfill both roles to some degree, but when put up against a more specialized ship it will always fall short.
In the months leading up to the formation of the New Sith Empire on Bastion, there had been several predecessor governments holding territory in the rotting carcass of the Old Empire. One of those governments was the Sith Ascendancy (which would evolve into the New Sith Empire later down the line), and the other was the Resurgent Empire of Athiss.
The Resurgent Empire was primarily comprised of Pureblood Sith, and with their ascension as Custodians of the Sith Worlds they were inclined to develop a suitable navy to protect the often molested cradle of the Sith.
Thus the Harrower Dreadnought was reintroduced, albeit larger and more heavily armed than its ancient predecessor. The ship served the Resurgent Empire well as it expanded across the Caldera and beyond, but due to the Resurgent Empire's inability to overcome the neighboring Dominion and the government's subsequent collapse the surviving warships found themselves without a home.
That was until the Sith Ascendancy reformed into the New Sith Empire, crushed the Dominion, and reclaimed the Stygian Caldera. Those captains and admirals who felt the pride of Empire beating in their hearts flocked to the New Empire, and with it the Harrowers were delivered into their hands. The shipwrights of Yaga Minor and Kol Huro put themselves to work on updating and modernizing the older Harrower models, improving them with state-of-the-art systems and improving speed and maneuverability.
At the conclusion of the Sith Empire's annexation of Malachor V the first of the new Harrowers, known affectionately as the Pureblood, entered service in the Sith Armada with many more in production.
