PRODUCTION INFORMATION
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Nearly limitless source of energy.
  • Compact enough to fit in the palm of the hand.
  • Needs "recharged" every couple of years.
STRENGTHS
  • Nearly limitless: Fusion reactors provide a nearly endless supply of energy as long as they're "recharged" at appropriate times (replacement of the lithium blankets and addition of deuterium).
  • Excess power: Arc fusion generators produce more than enough power for the running of even the largest of droids on the same size generator, minimizing production costs.
  • Lightsaber and Blaster Resistant: The phrik outer shell and echani graphite fiber sheathing protect the reactor from lightsabers and blasters.
WEAKNESSES
  • Not Proof: It's resistant to lightsabers and blasters, but repeated strikes will break it.
  • Acid: Like most metal objects, it's not resistant to high strength acids.
  • Extra Hot: Fusion reactors produce a lot of heat. The electromagnetic shield combats this, but if it is struck by an EMP, the two cancel each other out which will release a lot of plasma with the heat of a star. Things are going to melt.
DESCRIPTION
Fusion reactors operate using the superheating of hydrogen gases to create the reaction of fusion between a deuterium and tritium molecule. This gives off a large amount of heat which is converted to energy. Because this reaction doesn't need a large amount of space for building up speed, it's possible to create the reaction in something as small as the human hand. Lithium blankets provided a nearly unlimited source of tritium thanks to the absorption of the hydrogen given off by the reaction of fusing the two isotopes. These lithium blankets will last for several years and as will the supply of deuterium. These materials are also overly abundant throughout the galaxy, as they can be distilled from most saltwater oceans on type I breathable planets. Thus it will always be a viable power source.

Using a phrik shell to house the electromagnets protects the system from blaster and lightsaber strikes. Silver encased on Echani graphite allows for the transfer of power to the rest of the system, much like the arteries and vessels transfer blood from the heart to the rest of a living body. The main difference being that a living heart will eventually fail and at some point can't be resuscitated, but these arc reactors can be refit with new lithium blankets and more deuterium and be good as new.

This system was designed to work with the rest of the Project Hardfiber components.
