  • Canon: N/A
  • Links: The Redoubt
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Planet Name: Hadante
  • Demonym: Hadantan
  • Region: Mid Rim
  • System Name: Redoubt Cluster
  • System Features: At least 10 habitable planets, unexplored - unnamed. Ne'tu (Moon), Akkis (Moon).
  • Coordinates: U, 16
  • Major Imports: Water, Foodstuffs, Technology, Slaves
  • Major Exports: Raw Materials, Refined Metals, Precious Minerals (Non-Restricted)
GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION
  • Gravity: 1.5 standard
  • Climate: Arid, Volcanic
  • Primary Terrain: Volcanic, Tundra
  • Major Locations:
    Infernus, Capitol City of Hadante
Infernus is the name given to the largest settlement on the planet's surface. Nestled within a geographical fortress, Infernus is surrounded by volcanic mountains. Though they are inactive, large veins of magma yet flow beneath the city and the mountains themselves. The city is not often visited by outsiders, instead it is a haven of pirates, disgraced soldiers, and mercenaries from around the galaxy. Unlike other major cities or settlements around the galaxy, there is only one law within the city limits - Might is Right. Murder is commonplace amidst the streets and alleyways of Infernus. While a single murder may be acceptable, or even a handful of a crew or gang, random acts of terrorism are sure to be met with vengeful wrath of not only bystanders, but also the Dread King himself should it get out of hand.

[*]Golgatha, Industrial Supercomplex
  • Located deep beneath the surface of Hadante in one of the most mountainous regions rests a complex network of shafts, tunnels, and flowing magma rivers. Amidst these tunnels are a complex network of latticeworks, machinery banks, and other manufacturing and refining hubs. Golgatha is not only an industrial superstructure, but it also contains living spaces for the thousands of slaves employed within its facilities. Above the surface, in the upper section of Golgatha, a vibrant market and trade center has been established. While being located within the Redoubt Cluster makes intergalactic trade difficult, there reside more than a few vendors who trade in highly illicit goods that would be extremely difficult to locate elsewhere in the galaxy.

[*]Ne'tu, First Moon of Hadante
  • A near symmetrical hunk of space rock orbiting Hadante, Ne'tu (Pronounced 'Nay-two') is the site of large subterranean prison. Housing unruly slaves, disgraced soldiers of the Dread King's Hordes, and even the enemies of the Dread King himself, Ne'tu is like Hadante - volcanic. Every 8 hours the moon passes between the planet of Hadante and its sun, leaving the surface of Ne'tu entirely uninhabitable. As a prison planet, there is no traffic permitted it it's surface except during the 8 hour period where Hadante protects it from the searing rays of the sun. During that time a single transport is permitted to the surface to deliver food and supplies as well as any new prisoners. No shuttles are kept on the planet itself, though an advanced monitoring system has been installed to ensure the security of the facility there.

[*]Akkis, Second Moon of Hadante
  • This moon, like Ne'tu, is entirely uninhabitable - at least above the surface. Constructed here beneath the surface is a complex construct of elevators, corridors, and living quarters - and in fact serves as a staging point for void operations. Built into the moon itself is a complete maintenance and upkeep facility for vessels of the void. Four massive hangars are located at the cardinal positions along the planet's X axis, protected by standard defensive emplacements. While the facility is capable of servicing military vessels, it is primarily designed with civilian vessels and transport ships in mind.

POPULATION
  • Native Species: N/A
  • Immigrated Species: Chiss, Human, Stenax
  • Population: Moderately populated
  • Demographics: Human (80%), Chiss (15%), Stenax (5%) (All races equally enslaved)
  • Primary Languages: Galactic Basic, Cheunh
  • Culture:
Daily Life: Monarch driven. All work is done to the service of the Dread King. Whether it is working in the mines of Golgatha or in service to the Dread King's hordes, service is enforced primarily by fear.
  • Society: Near-Anarchy. Aside from the general governing rule of service to the Dread King, there is little to govern morality. Murder is commonplace and to see someone killed in the street is a daily occurence both at the hands of the Dread King's soldiers and at the hands of their fellow citizens. The rule of the strong.
  • Arts: Art is a relative term, though in this sense most art coming out of Hadante is macabre. Grim paintings, horrific statues, and scenes of terror are typical of Hadantan art.
  • Religion: To Hadantans, the Dread King is a deity - his Dread Queen and Dread Lords minor gods. All are to be revered and served to the best of one's abilities. Governed by fear, the religion has no true doctrine, nor an official endorsement by the Dread King himself, however shrines are commonplace - erected to The Dread King, The Dread Queen, and each Dread Lord though at the top of the hierarchy rests none but the Dread King.

GOVERNMENT & ECONOMY
  • Government: Monarchy
  • Affiliation: The Lords of Chaos
  • Wealth: Medium. Despite its incredibly large raw material output, Hadante remains moderately wealthy primarily due to its obscure location and difficult travel to major trade lanes. Nestled in the Redoubt Cluster, mass transit routes are near impossible, stunting what might under other circumstances be an incredibly wealthy planet.
  • Stability: Low. Governed by the Dread King himself, the planet is unlikely to endure a revolt any time soon, however to say the day to day atmosphere is stable would be a lie. Murder is commonplace and corpses are left in the street, typically stripped of anything of value.
  • Freedom & Oppression: Rule is solely held by the Dread King and his Queen, though the Dread Lords hold an almost deity-like position among the planet's inhabitants. Fear is the dominating structure in place, particularly evidenced by the numerous slaves put to work both upon and below Hadante's surface. While murder and chaos are prevalent among the society of Hadante, slaves are kept in check not only by fear alone, but are branded with the sigil of the Lords of Chaos. A wrought iron is super heated, then pressed to their left wrist, forever marking them as a slave. Slaves are near always kept in chains, the threat of physical pain and archaic methods of torture enough to keep most from thoughts of revolt, and for those more resolute, those slaves who might have a leaning towards dissension are often reminded what happens to those who attempt and fail. Bodies and mutilated corpses are hung for all to see, the brand of the Dread Lords clearly untouched as a symbol to all those who would think of anything but service.
MILITARY & TECHNOLOGY
  • Military: The world of Hadante is highly defensible. Historically, not only was the Redoubt Cluster extremely difficult for spacefaring vessels to navigate safely but it was defended by a series of defensive emplacements and fortresses along the only known route into the cluster. Hadante is no different. A heavy center of industry within the cluster, this is one of the most defended planets - also home to the Dread King. Rarely can it be found without an amassed fleet in orbit. Active volcanic activity prevent any sort of accurate ground targeting from the atmosphere. In addition, the increased gravity has compounded the uppermost layer of the planet's crust, forming a particularly resilient surface. Should orbital bombing occur, the effects below ground would be largely countered by the density of the surface layer.
  • Technology: Originally designed as a fall back position, much of the Redoubt Cluster yet remains largely unexplored. Technology has maintained a much slower curve of development within the cluster, though recently it has begun a major jump forwards as new technology is imported into the Cluster. The Technology of Hadante mirrors that of most industrial worlds, though only in that respect. Medical technology is far behind the greater galaxy, and any advanced technology that is present is imported. Frankly put, Hadante is an industrial world first, anything else second. The fires of industry burn brightly while other aspects of technology such as weaponry, medical supplies, and quality of life enhancements dwindle.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

  • HIstorically, the Redoubt Cluster was an extremely remote cluster of stars. High radiation levels and close proximity of the stars within the cluster made navigation and safe hyperspace travel difficult. The cluster itself was only accessible by a handful of known routes, each defended by now ancient Chiss fortifications and defense systems. They may not be 'up to snuff' but even in their construction they were secondary measures. The exact date of settlement is unknown, though considerable labor and time would have been required to excavate the extensive mines and build the production facilities. It is hypothesized the settlement was somewhere near one hundred years ago though much of the development has occurred in the last 30. Having just reached a point where the stability of the Planet of Hadante is now plateauing, further exploration and development of the sector are forefront on the minds of those who reside there.

The Redoubt Cluster has always been isolated from the galaxy at large, even at its discovery it was established as a last holdout should the Chiss Ascendancy ever be overrun or on the verge of extinction. Protected by a series of stations originally built by the Chiss. An additional feature of the Redoubt Cluster was the close proximity of stars in the region and only several known routes into the cluster proper. Because of this, and the general lack of interstellar travel within the cluster, the Gulag Plague took several years longer to reach the planet of Hadante, but once it had, it wreaked havoc on the population. Technology once found commonplace became rare, eventually turning to myth as the struggling remainder reverted to only the most basic of technology.

During the years between the Gulag Plague and what has become known as "The Netherworld Event", limited technological advancement had been made, and while generally technology had begun an upward climb the majority of technology was rudimentary and unrefined. Simple technology such as welders, basic machinery and gasoline powered contraptions were commonplace, higher technology like blasters and interstellar vessels were just now reaching what had been considered normal before the plague. Fortunately for the reclusive cluster, "The Netherworld Event" was largely something relayed secondhand through the limited trade in and out of the Redoubt Cluster. At the time, Hadante was a place of little commerce, effectively little more than a planet of industrial production and ore refining - though being remote severely cut into the profits that might have been made.

It stayed that way for a time, no true advances in technology forming except by the way of refining and mining technology - until the Dread King arrived. He fell from the sky, landing upon the surface of Hadante in some semblance of a pod. During the Gulag Plague, it had become a predominant belief that there would be a time when a star would fall from the skies and bring horrible doom upon the people of Hadante. Many had been content to imagine that the Gulag Plague had indeed been that falling star, but this was not the case. It was Moloch, the hybrid Vong/Human abomination that would soon after rule the world. Moloch was not the only one who fell from the stars, but he was the strongest. As the curious eyes of the Hadantans drew them closer to the sites of the crash landings, they quickly found themselves at the mercy of their new gods. From the start they were met with violence, at least at first - no centralized government had truly been established, local corporations claiming the majority of control of day to day life, however once Moloch and his band of raiders had arrived that all changed.

Violence and mayhem were unleashed for a time, blood for the sake of blood - until one day it stopped. It was that day that the first man was branded with the sigil of the Chaos Lords, it was that day that Hadante was subjugated. As it operates now, the ever threat of death is a driving force in many resident's lives, not only under threat from the Dread King or his lackeys, but the planet itself is a most hazardous environment. The Dread King and his Lords of Chaos have instilled fear in every imaginable way into the people of Hadante, their thirst for blood and violence easily bearing likeness to demons, in fact it is their penchant for blood that has elevated them to the status of gods in the eyes of the Hadantans, evil and vengeful gods.

  • If anarchy and murder are so prevalent, what keeps the oppressed slaves from revolting against the rule of the Dread King?

Please expand the History section to touch upon the effects of the Gulag plague and Netherworld event. Furthermore, please elaborate on how the Dread King has managed to assert such absolute control over the populace. Is it a hereditary position? Do these Kings fight for control? How do the Lords of Chaos keep the people convinced they're gods / how did they manage to sell this illusion in the first place? Etc.

Edited. I have included vague references to the Gulag Plague and Netherworld events, however I thought it was no longer required in codex submissions?

Additionally I have expanded the History portion relating to the Dread King as requested and corrected the error in format.

Awesome, thanks. And yeah, that's a derp on my part – addressing historical events is no longer required, you're correct. :)

Pending approval.

GENERAL INFORMATION
  • The Redoubt Cluster hex is in the Unknown Regions.
  • Please list the planet's moons in System Features.
POPULATION
  • This is all OOC information, so the Native Species field should have something there. If there are no native species, put 'N/A'.
MILITARY & TECHNOLOGY
  • Please talk about the technology of Hadante as a planet rather than the Redoubt Cluster as a hex.

These sections are referring to technology on Hadante, not the cluster. I have only referred to the Cluster's remoteness as a reasoning for the lack of considerable technology.

Thanks for pointing that out, you're good on that front.

My comments about the technology on the planet pertained to the Technology field in the Military & Technology section, not for the sub as a whole. In that field, please speak of the present technology level of Hadante.
