STRENGTHS
  • Extreme Firepower Saturation - Each citadel mounts an overwhelming mix of turbolasers, ion weapons, missile systems, railguns, and point-defense arrays, allowing it to engage capital ships, fighters, and missiles simultaneously across multiple engagement envelopes.
  • Near-Impenetrable Defensive Layers - Designed with reinforced beskar-derived hull alloys, redundant deflector and ion shields, and a specialized damage-reduction system; these stations can absorb punishment that would cripple or destroy most capital ships.
  • Massive Starfighter Projection - With capacity for thirty-six starfighter squadrons organized into twelve wings, and capable of supporting an additional four squadrons of support craft such as unarmed shuttles and transports, these citadels can dominate surrounding space through sheer fighter presence alone.
  • Advanced Electronic Warfare - Jamming beams, a 220-SIG Tactical Jamming Device, and a 995 Stormcloud ECM Suite working in tandem with layered countermeasures, can cripple enemy sensors, communications, and fire-control systems well before the first shot is fired.
  • Devastating Missile and Torpedo Arsenal - Eighty M-g-2 Warhead Launchers allow each citadel to unleash coordinated salvos of ion, plasma, baradium, proton, concussion, and exotic munitions capable of overwhelming even advanced point defenses.
  • Prisoner Containment Facilities - Carbon-Freezing chambers, force cages, electrified decks, and layered internal security allow the citadel to hold tens of thousands of prisoners, including high-risk Force-users.
  • Command-and-Control Hub - These citadels are equipped with advanced sensor arrays and targeting suites that enable them to function as regional coordination nodes, directing fleet movements, fighter wings, and defensive grids across entire sectors.
  • Psychological Deterrence - The sheer size, visible armament density, and reputation of the Black Citadels often deter enemy advances outright, forcing adversaries to reroute fleets or commit disproportionate resources to attempt to disable or destroy these bastions.
WEAKNESSES
  • Completely Stationary - The Haar Ne'tra Keldabe has no speed, maneuverability, or hyperdrive, making it permanently fixed once deployed and unable to withdraw or reposition.
  • Predictable Strategic Location - Once discovered, the citadel's position becomes a permanent strategic objective for enemy planners, allowing long-term siege or encirclement strategies.
  • Superstructure Spine Vulnerability - The massive vertical spine, which runs the height of the station, concentrates power, structural support, and system routing, making it both a strength and a catastrophic single-point failure if breached.
  • Friendly-Fire Risk from Cluster Munitions - CL-3 anti-starfighter cluster bombs are as dangerous to allied craft as enemy fighters, requiring strict coordination or temporary withdrawal of friendly squadrons. Upon activation, special care is required to ensure that all munitions are detonated or disposed of as they can still pose a danger to civilian vessels or friendly craft that come through the area days, weeks, or even months after an engagement.
  • Limited Tactical Flexibility - While these citadels are strategically dominant, they cannot pursue fleeing enemies or respond dynamically to shifting fronts without external fleet support.
  • Vulnerable During Construction and Activation - The strategic nature and importance of these citadels immediately mark them as a target of interest to the enemies of the Mandalorian Empire. Before full operational status, a citadel is exceptionally vulnerable to sabotage or preemptive strikes, requiring that a defensive fleet remain on standby during construction, even if the location of the citadel has yet to be discovered.
  • Dependence on External Resupply Over Time - Though designed to be self-sufficient and hold years' worth of supplies, extended sieges or blockades can eventually strain even these vast reserves.
  • Production - These citadels are not cheaply produced or manufactured, requiring thousands of hours and tens of thousands of workers to construct these behemoths. Each Citadel is produced in a specific location and has only been deployed in the Mandalorian Ferrix Oversector, with no more than a dozen of these stations known to be planned or currently exist.
DESCRIPTION
Haar Ne'tra Keldabe - known in Galactic Basic as The Black Citadels - are colossal, stationary deep-space fortresses designed to embody Mandalorian dominance through permanence rather than mobility. Built to serve simultaneously as Star Fortresses, Defense Platforms, and High-Security Deep-Space Prisoners, they are not ships in the traditional sense, but immovable instruments of control.

Each citadel is defined by its immense vertical superstructure, a towering spine that runs the full height of the station. This spine houses primary power conduits, structural reinforcement, sensor trunks, and weapon control relays, allowing the station to channel energy and firepower with brutal efficiency. While this design grants exceptional resilience and coordination, it also represents a critical vulnerability should an enemy ever penetrate deeply enough to strike it. The Black Citadels are bristling with weaponry, capable of unleashing sustained fire against entire fleets. Heavy turbolaser and plasma railguns batter capital ships at range, as dense ion and point-defense networks shred fighters and missiles that stray too close, and vast missile magazines can drown attacks in coordinated salvos, overwhelming even the most disciplined formations.

Equally dangerous is the citadel's mastery of electronic warfare. Jamming Beams disrupt the fire-control systems of painted targets, while layered ECM suites and tactical jamming devices blind sensors, fracture communications, and erode enemy coordination. Battles around a Citadel are often decided before the first hull breach, as opposing forces struggle to see clearly, let alone fight effectively.

Internally, the citadel functions as a fortified city and prison complex. Entire sectors are dedicated to detention, ranging from standard cells to force cages and carbon-freezing vaults reserved for the most dangerous captives. Security is relentless and uncompromising, reflecting Mandalorian culture, and holding the belief that prisoners are assets to be contained absolutely or neutralized permanently.

Operated by the Mandalorian Empire, the Black Citadels serve as anchors of territorial control. Fleets rally to them, patrol from them, and retreat behind their guns when pressed. Where a Black Citadel is established, space itself becomes contested ground - locked down, monitored, and enforced with overwhelming violence. The Black Citadels do not chase enemies; they wait. And when the enemy comes, they break against the citadels.
