SETTING INFORMATION

  • City Name: Haagrune

  • Classification: Metropolis

  • Location: Thakwaa

  • Affiliation: First Order

  • Demographics: 38% Human | 39% Thakwaash | 12% Bothan | 11% Others

  • Wealth: Moderate

Due to the stability, wealth here is also fairly moderate. Always a business office or space for business on lease. Many who live here try to keep to themselves, Haagrune’s main speciality is its grain. A unique type of grain that is only found on the planet and more specifically near the edges of the city, and two types of root vegetables that are scarcely found anywhere else. Farming is the big industry here, as is food preservation along with the trading of agricultural technologies and knowledge.

[*]
Stability: Moderate

  • Clashes between the Thakwaash with the other populations have occurred making stability here harder to maintain. Generally all species here within the city get along fairly well, the self-segregation seems to help this. The First Order itself reminds its population on acceptance and inclusiveness. This of course is not always heard but nothing like good ol’ fashioned plastoid armor policing with the help of the local planetary guards to sort it out.

[*]
Description: Haagrune is a thriving city and in spite of the unpredictable natures that are the Thakwash as a species. It manages, white armored troops, planetary guards and the like see to the low crime rates. The added mix of Bothans seems to help with the overall population and with the city being so widespread - it makes self-segregation all the easier. Not to say that there aren’t places where multiple species live together but more often than not in Haagrune things are done separately. The city itself is beautiful as it rests along a large river that runs through the center, farmlands on either end of the actual metropolitan center keep the city well fed. Industrial sectors sit off to the South and commercial sectors to the north with residential (mostly low end) rests in between with the high end dotting the more luxurious ports.

POINTS OF INTEREST
Lovretta Sweets: Founded shortly after the Plague, Lovretta Sweets is the top treat company within the First Order. Headquartered here in Haagrune they produce nearly two billion treats a year.

Big Red Barn: An after hours honky tonk, probably the most famous in all of Haagrune. They’ve got their own stage where many ‘Rustic’ groups have gotten their start. They’ve also brewed up their own set of beer. Red Barn Beer, Lager, Ale and Cider coming in an assortment of flavors.

Andras Agricultural Tech: AAT produces state of the art agricultural technology, most within the first order are familiar with their “Beaus” the repulsor tractor and combine harvester that’s made farming a lot simpler.

Wawa Horton Foods: Wawa Hortons and their line of refueling stations are famous for their caf and food, and this is where they’re headquartered. Donuts? Got’em, kolaches? Got’em. Want a pizza with your kinda toppings at 3 AM and also wanna grab some hash browns, got’em. Wawa Horton is always looking to grow!

Bothan Legal Guild: Just as on their native world, the Bothans have formed up their own Legal Guild. Most say these lawyers are some of the best on this side of Dosuun, of course Dosuun protests this.

First Order Division of Agriculture: An office here on Thakwaa to monitor the sector, FODOA is in charge of all agriculture for the First Imperial nation. The office here as aforementioned monitors the sector and works to ensure all growth and harvest are done properly as well as studying said growth and harvests.

Haagrune Water Systems: The big gate controls the river’s dam, ensuring that just enough water gets through to help the ecosystem of Haagrune and to keep the city from flooding. Much of the city’s water comes from HWS.

Haagrune Solar Systems: Powered by the sun, HSS stores power in large batteries to be used at night. The power is supplemented by HWS’s dam to keep the city going at night.

Skarsten Distributions: The largest distribution company just under Star Tours, it has a few subsidiaries and has a regional office here making sure products get to where they’re going on time.

Moennig & Shahi Candy Ltd: Looking for something spicy, sour, or both? MSC Limited is your company, making all kinds of unique candies for decades you can find their regional office here on Haagrune as well.

Provost-Chalkey Edaphology Firm: What’s in the dirt? A lot. And PCEF is here to help, there’s a lot to study and a lot to know. The firm works closely with FODOA as well as various research firms including one on Noryang.

Barnell, Thurston, Vaugier & Silk Bank: The number one trusted bank by farmers on Haagrune. BTVS is here to help you stake debt right in the heart and grow your profits without all the hassle, and they won’t drain you dry while doing it. For a bank you can trust, count on BTVS.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The Thakwaash have always been here, and somehow managed to survive the Gulag plague and the Netherworld event. Granted, their population is a lot smaller than it was before. From both events though came the unique produce to the area, a type of grain that seems to be some sort of oat/wheat hybrid with a blue hue and root vegetables one that feels like a parsnip and another that acts more like an onion. One is yellow while the other is a deep green. Other produce grows here as well and it’s lend itself to the ever growing agricultural business here.

After the First Order settled here, it established a rather large office on its behalf. The First Order Division of Agriculture. The Thakwaa office located here in Haagrune works with the network of offices, monitoring grwoth patterns, harvest rates, along with soil and weather conditions. Other industries here includes a ‘muddy crawler’ industry which serves to harvest the local crustacean population along with studying them to ensure their survival so that Haagrune and the First Imperial nation as a whole can continue to enjoy them.

One of the many questions those ask of Haagrune is how did the Bothans reach the city, and the answer is simple. The 400 Years of Darkness led to some of the more unusual migration patterns across the galaxy. As navigation through the stars was not as it once was. This resulted with several groups of Bothans reaching Thakwaa and settling down in what would be Haagrune. In fact, Bothans are largely credited with the foundation of the city and with assisting the First Order in bringing some manner of stabilization to the region.
