- Eris Memory Crystal - HARDLINE's design requires a massive amount of data storage and processing, at the very least matching or exceeding that of the human brain. There are not many memory storage devices that can handle this, the Eris crystal is one of them. It is a unique memory crystal that can store 4-5 times more than a human brain, and is able to retrieve and store information even faster.
- Cloaking Device - One of HARDLINES personal modifications is the Stygium Cloaking device, which allows him to basically become invisible to the naked eye
- Concealed Vibroblades - These are located in the droid's arms, extending from the top of the wrists. They are implemented in such a way as to make them difficult to detect by sensors
- Vocal Replicator - He can replicate almost any voice given that he has heard a certain amount of it beforehand.
- Reaction Time - The Eris Memory Crystal gives HARDLINE a very fast reaction time, rivaling that of Jedi.
- Strength - HARDLINE is about as strong as a wookie.
- Speed - He can run significantly Faster than an average human.
- Cloaking Device - This is a personal addition, it works much like most other personal cloaking devices, dampening sensor and visual acquisition of the target.
- Intelligence - HARDLINE is incredibly intelligent, and is often 12 steps ahead of any competition.
- Super Spy - HARDLINE has a vocal replicator, meaning that if he has heard enough of a voice, he can replicate near perfectly.
- Weight - Hardline is incredibly heavy, even by droid standards
- Crystal Problems - If the Eris Memory crystal is somehow lost or removed he loses many of his cognitive and data processing advantages, in fact, without the crystal he loses: His ability to speak, his ability to render complex thoughts, emotion simulation among other things. Not to mention his reaction time becomes similar to that of a drunken man.
- Emotions - While some droids have the gift of a lack of emotions, HARDLINE has no such gift, he has all the emotional burden of a normal person.
- Ion - Ion weapons will almost certainly disable HARDLINE.
- EMP - EMPs definitely will disable HARDLINE
Nobody knows much about the Origins of HARDLINE, not even he knows who made him, or where he came from. However he has been able to gleam a certain amount about his history from code comments and logs he was able to dig up. He was designed to almost perfectly replicate a human intelligence, without using entechmennt, mind upload, or brain scans. Basically they wanted to build a human mind from scratch. In the end it seemed they succeeded, and HARDLINE woke up one day in an open grass field, not knowing anything about his history or purpose.
They seemed to be able to accomplish this via use of the Eris memory crystal, a revolutionary memory crystal that can store and process huge amounts of data without much of a problem and very few moving parts. The designs are unknown, even to HARDLINE, though unbeknownst to him the schematics exist on an archive drive hidden within a near indestructible compartment in his body, it is designed so that they could rebuild it should he die, and would only open should that occur.
As the centuries went on HARDLINE modified himself various times, adding new parts as they became available and adding modifications to better fit his new role. The most significant of these changes were the cloaking device he added to assist in infiltration of secure locations. He also added two vibroblades, which are stored in his forearm, and used when no other weapons can be brought into a location. The other signnificant modification is a vocal replicator, allowing him to pretend to be just about anyone given he has heard a significant amount of their voice and had time to analyze the waveforms.
As for physical weaknesses, HARDLINE has all the normal weaknesses of droids, EMP, Ion, etc, and this is on top of his incredibly large weight, making it very difficult to move around fragile surfaces. He also has the unique weakness of actual emotions, not simulations of emotions, actual emotions, that have similar effects to normal emotions that cant be turned off. Fear is a problem for HARDLINE, as is happiness, sadness and everything in between. If they were simulations he could turn them off, but these are hard coded into his sentience, he cannot turn them off or ignore them.
Also if he were to lose the Eris Crystal in some manner, his physical and cognitive abilities would be incredibly hampered and weakened, reaction times would be incredibly slowed, and cognitive functions reduced to a minimum, he couldn't even speak if the crystal were somehow lost. Until the crystal were returned, he would be significantly less effective than he would otherwise be given the circumstances.
