Born on Brentaal IV , Gunther Torson served in a multitude of Imperial Regimes in the Core such as the One Sith and the Core Imperial Confederation. By 859 ABY , Torson reached the position of Moff within the Core Imperial Confederation and operated from his homeworld of Brentaal IV. When the Core Imperial Confederation collapsed , Torson rather then establish himself as a Warlord he stole the planet's wealth and fled to the Deep Core joining Lord Geradius Nox and the Frozen Hand as a Fleet Admiral. However the Frozen Hand was ultimately defeated at Byss after a brief campaign waged by the High Republic though by luck Torson was absent at the Battle having assembled a Large Fleet by the orders of Lord Admiral Nox to launch a counter attack against the High Republic.
With the fall of the Frozen Hand , Torson took his fleet and was contacted by Dorian Sevanar , a High-Ranking Officer within the Imperial Directorate who convinced him to join the Imperial Directorate and promising him control of the Bormea Sector as a Moff in a future where the Imperial Directorate would come in to occupy the Core Worlds after defeating High Republic and the Grayson Imperium. However before his promise was fulfilled , the Imperial Directorate was betrayed by Credius Nargath and his Zweihander Union cronies. Outraged , Torson joined Marlon Sularen's Secretive and Revanchist Sularen Association as Sularen moved forth to plan his revenge against the Zweihander Union.
After the Battle of Ord Mantell between Dorian Sevanar's Imperial Fleet and the Zweihander Union , the Sularen Association's Neo-Imperial Filibusters moved in to occupy Ord Mantell and establish a Proxy Government known as the Mantellian Authority in which Torson was appointed as it's Supreme Commander.
