Gulliver's Travelers

Looking to potentially throw together a band of mercenaries. Looking for three categories of writer.

  1. NPC specialists- Folks with a good head for unit tactics, whether they be on the small scale (fire team, squad, platoon, or company) or on the large scale (anything up to an army).
  2. Fleet specialists- People who know fleeting. If you can handle ships, we want you.
  3. FU combat specialists- Individuals who can reliably fight against Force Users. No preference towards FU or NFU, so long as you're good at what you do.
IC, the goal is to break things and get paid. We work for the highest bidder, whomever that may be. When we're bought, we stay bought until the end of the contract. That might mean you end up working for some folks you don't necessarily like, but it pays the bills.

OOC, I want to get together a group of folks who like writing hard military sci-fi. There's not really a whole lot going on for the soldierly types outside of a couple of imperial factions, so I thought it might be fun to get together and see what we can make happen. Yes, we will be working for and with factions where possible, but I also want to do some actual stories within the group. Soldier type characters are basically shoehorned into one or two very narrow niches, and that's a damn shame, because there's a lot of potential that's ignored outside of invasions and skirmishes. The camaraderie, the gallows humor, the determination and the fatalism, there's a whole rich world outside of the melodrama of the Jedi and the Sith.

You don't have to be a master of writing this sort of character to join up. All I ask is that when we do get a contract, you behave in a professional manner OOC. In character, you are free to act as your character would, though obviously if you can't function within a disciplined organization, this is probably not for you. OOC, you will be held to a higher standard. I don't care what anyone else is doing, we will do this right. If you sign on for this, there will be no powergaming or godmoding. You will not queen, whine, or complain if something doesn't go your way. If your opponent is being a douchebag, we will address that in the appropriate manner.

With that in mind, anyone interested?

Would said interested party need to be a soldier? I've recently found that writing NPC soldiers is quite fun. While I may not be the best at it I am willing to give it a shot. Although I'm sure there are plenty of other qualified writers in this regard. On another note if force users are allowed, would it be difficult to have a Dathomir witch along for the ride or wizard per say? One other thing, would you prefer to have a NPC writer for soldiers? Or would you rather have someone willing to create a PC Soldier or commander for the group entirely, while providing a rough NPC presence of those under his or her command?

Sorry for the questions, just a curious fellow. :)

We're willing to take on Force Users as specialists in combating other Force Users. Part of the fun is seeing how they interact with NFU troops. If you want to sign on as that and NPC the troops that work with you, I'm cool with that.

Ren is an agent, not a merc. They are similar however. So... care if I join?
I'm sure we can find a use for you.
