SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Environmentally Sealed: The Gualama uses environmentally sealed crew cabin and an environmentally sealed passenger/cargo bay, allowing the APC to operate in vacuum and up to Type IV atmospheres. Consequently, the Gualama sports a miniaturized life support system commonly found on starfighters. People and cargo exit the Gualama through a pair of doors located at the rear of the vehicle.
  • Modular Payload: The Gualama's internal bay, while awkwardly shaped, is capable of being reconfigured to hold different pieces of equipment. This allows the Gualama to act as a traditional armored personnel transport, field ambulance, artillery tractor, or armored cargo truck.
  • Trailer Hitch: The Gualama has a trailer hitch, allowing it to pull different types of trailers or pieces of equipment behind it, notably the Capricorn-class Rail Gun.
  • Power Harpoon with Winch: The Gualama does have a rear-facing Power Harpoon with winch, which is primarily used to remove obstacles or pull disabled vehicles.
STRENGTHS
  • Resilient: The Gualama is an exceptionally durable vehicle due to its thick Argentum-series Matrix Armor and HU-OC Shield Generator, especially when this latter device is used in overcharge mode.
WEAKNESSES
  • Poorly Armed: The Gualama is very lightly armed with either a machine gun or a light blaster cannon, making it only capable of taking on infantry and very light vehicles in combat.
DESCRIPTION
The Gualama Repulsorlift Armored Personnel Carrier is designed to quickly and safely carry a squad of infantry and their support equipment into battle and then support them with light mobile weapons fire. To accomplish this task, the Gualama uses a heavy duty landspeeder chassis that has been covered in thick layers of Argentum-series Matrix Armor to form a hermatically sealed environment. This armor in turn is augmented by the use of a starfighter-grade HU-OC deflector shield, which provides regenerative defense against a variety of common threats. Its slow shield regeneration rate is typically enough to keep pace with damage that most small arms can emit, but it can quickly be depleted by sustained weapon's fire. Fortunately, it does have an overcharge mode, which most crews use as a type of "burst" shielding, allowing it to withstand exceptionally severe damage for brief periods of time, which crews often use to survive while their vehicles change cover or concealment, or if occasionally on quick charges into enemy lines to deposit their passengers. The vehicle's second greatest asset is its relatively powerful repulsorlift engines, which not only provide it with fairly good speed on par with most civilian landspeeders, but an altitude of up to ten meters, allowing to fly over many obstacles. Like other repulsorlift vehicles, it is also adept at crossing over water and many other terrain types typically regarded as impassable to conventional tracked or wheeled vehicles.

Despite these significant strengths, the Gualama is handicapped by a very weak armament consisting of a machine gun or a light blaster cannon. This weapon is typically only powerful enough to deal with man-sized targets or light vehicles. It can be operated manually by the gunner in a traditional fashion or be remote controlled from inside the vehicle itself. While not obviously going to be in the running for best offensive vehicles, designers saw this armament as more of last-ditch defense weapons, feeling that it should instead be focused on its mission of transportation. The rear cabin of the Gualama wraps around its power source and engine, making it slightly awkward internally. However, it has been designed to be slightly modular through the use of removable hardware and fittings to serve several roles:

Armored Personnel Carrier: The stock configuration of most Gualama, this set-up allows the Gualama to transport a ten man squad of infantry along with their supporting equipment and several days of supplies into battle.

Armored Cargo Transport: Nearly identical to the APC, this set-up doesn't have any seats and instead has netting and strap fittings to secure supplies during fast and sometimes rough drives across the battlefield or difficult terrain.

Field Ambulance: This configuration holds four repulsorlift stretchers, several ECM598 Medical Back-packs, a bacta tub, and is usually staffed by a pair of medical personnel (medic, doctor, nurse, etc) or equivalent droids. These resources can often stabilize very critically injured patients for transport to a healthcare facility or completely treat mild to moderate wounds and conditions.

Artillery Tractor: This configuration uses the internal bay to hold ammunition along with spare parts and repair tools for a piece of artillery, such as a Capricorn-class Rail Gun, which is usually towed behind the Gualama.

Gualamas are expected to primarily fill the traditional mechanized transport role within most buyers. While the largest batch has been sold to the Silver Jedi and its affiliated governments, the design has been most heavily field-tested by the Directorate's mobile infantry units, due to its smaller size and near constant deployment in small local policing actions across the galaxy. Initial reports have been promising because of the vehicles high durability, though there are also almost constant complaints about its weak armament that will likely force the designers to make improvements in that regard for later models.

Gir Quee Gir Quee

A versatile and resilient APC. It has variable internal configurations, boasts some thicc armor, and has a creative shield "overcharge" system for last-ditch efforts. Simple and sweet though without lacking in character.

This looks rad. Enjoy your APC! Approved.
