Grond is the name bestowed upon the Power Hammer wielded by Malok. Its name and very existance is an homage to simpler times within his life. Like most Ma'alkerrite young, Malok was exposed to a number of ancestral fables and epics - with his favorite being the tale of Death's own hammer. Despite the path his life has set him on - despite walking away from his home - this story meant enough to carry in his heart. And now, he proudly carries it and the banner of ApeX into battle.
In terms of appearance, the Behemoth has taken every care to emulate what he interprets the weapon of legend. To begin, Grond resembles an oversized mace more so than a typical hammer - in that there is not a singular head. Rather, it possesses several jutted faces encircling the repuslor and shockwave generator rods. Whilst inactive, Grond's form is predominantly silver with a leather-wrapped haft and pommel spike. However, once activated, the so-called "Hammer of the Underworld" takes on a sinister appearance. Its circuitry produces a significantly red glare, coupled with deliberate sparks from the shockwave generators.
In terms of capabilities, Grond is a Power Hammer. With a single swing, "armored opponents can find themselves flying across a room" thereby making it effective against a wide variety of adversaries. It strikes with incredible force, enough so that it can easily "smash through rocks and dense metal veins" when applied for mining. Outside of these standard advantages, which are found in any Power Hammer, Grond is composed predominantly of Phrik. As such, the weapon is resistant to the blades of lightsabers and enjoys a lighter weight (when compared to the typical version.)
However, Grond is not without its shortcomings. In particular, as an electronic-based piece of equipment, it is not resistant to electromagnetic pulses. If exposed to such, the weapon's repulsors and shockwave generator rods can short, resulting in a phrik-based bludgeoning weapon. On another note, Grond's composition does not equal the ability to bat away blaster bolts like a lightsaber. Its weight distribution and overall size makes defense against common battlefield threats difficult.
All in all, through Grond, a tale of Malok's youth lives on.
