Grievous Intrigue

Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?

Third Moon of Vassek

Many years ago, a mad Imperial scientist had utilized the droid shell that had once contained the remains of the infamous Confederate general known as Grievous to create a terrifying lightsaber-wielding machine known as N-K Necrosis. Though Necrosis was destroyed, his parts scattered across the galaxy(and his head ending up as a piece in Thrawn's art gallery), he was not the only droid that existed built of Grievous parts.

Vassek was an out of the way planet, and the third moon itself was used for very little. But on the moon was a crumbling fortress once used by the cyborg leader. And according to rumor, the parts used to construct his body were also there. With a specialized droid brain, N-K Necrosis could be reborn - and multiplied, given the rumored number of spare body parts. Such was why Vanessa had traveled to an otherwise insignificant location, along with a fluffy associate, to examine the rumors of such a place still being true. If so... well, she had stuff to take.

The large being lumbered along the corridor of the ship in search of the humaniod woman. She was a lord and as such she was in command but Bo had not bothered to ask what the nature of the mission was. It wasn't his place to question. Not yet, anyway. His heavy steps echoed on the durasteel deck as he walked. He ducked his head and turned to squeeze through the door as he entered the bridge to meet the woman in charge.

"Bo, here." he said as he looked down at the smaller being. His large brown eyes scanned the area as he awaited orders. "Bo, ready."

He stood looking at the screen depicting the planetary information along with screens of historical information. He had never even heard of the majority of the items on the screens but it mattered very little. He knew his place, he was a hammer, directed as needed and put aside when the work was complete. It would not always be so, but for now he would bide his time and wait for the chance to gain more. It wouldn't be today, nor the next perhaps, but soon he was sure.

"So I can tell." She responded as her shuttle landed. She reminded herself to air the ship out and give it a thorough cleaning after they returned - the panda certainly needed to be cleaned up. "Alright... Our goal is to penetrate any defenses that may or may not be active and acquire the Grievous parts so we can get the N-K Necrosis robots together." It was simple enough - she hoped it was simple enough to understand as the shuttle door opened and they exited near a crag in the rock leading to the fortress's interior.

"Alright... you go first."

The large creature looked at the small Sith Lord and then back to the crag and silently hoped it didn't get any narrower. He nodded his understanding and took his greatsaber off his rope-like belt and moved forward. The sound of the wind howled above the crag as he walked and stretched out with his senses. Large green eyes swept from side to side in anticipation for trouble but he sensed nothing so far. Nothing alive at least.

He quickened his pace so he wouldn't keep the small hairless female waiting to long and soon found the walls opening up to a large facility hidden in the stone. It was old. Even he knew that. and it looked like it hadn't seen activity in centuries. Stones and debris had collapsed infront of the main door and Bo stopped to poke the nearest rock with his foot.

"Rocks fall." he said as he strained to form the words in basic. He hated basic but most humanoids were to dumb to speak his language with any semblance of accuracy. He took a melon from his bag and began eating as he waited for the order to move the rocks. He didn't want to show too much intelligence. Intelligent underlings usually didn't get left alone enough for his taste.

"Yep." She responded, pondering over a solution. "Well, no use in trying to play nice." She focused on the nearest rock and threw it behind her, sending it rolling down the pathway they had come up. "Please, join me in getting rid of these." She moved to get another rock and watched it go down the hill. It was an oddly satisfying sight to see such stones take a tumble.

They would be inside soon enough.

He walked forward as the woman gripped a stone with the force and flung it away. She was obviously much stronger in the force than he was. He stuffed a handful of cabbage from his bag to his mouth then rubbed his furry hands together before wrapping his arms around a stone. With a grunt he lifted it and dropped it to the side.

He walked back and grabbed another, then another. Between the two of their methods the door was quickly un earthed and he sat down with a sigh.

"Nap?" He asked with a deep rumbling voice. He was a tir3d Pandyn.

Vanessa was exhausted - she wasn’t going to lie. If the Force had actually been given to her so she could lift boulders, she could have found a job with the Silvers the next time a Sith orbital bombardment buried them alive. Once they finished, Vanessa would stop for a moment and look at the Pandyn with a sigh. “Look... I know you aren’t for this sort of thing, but we need to keep moving. We can take a couple minute breather here, but we need to continue onwards. Besides, it will be cooler inside.”

After all, who didn’t love cooler environments after severe exertion?

Bo looked at the Sith Lord for a moment then nodded and took some more food from his bag and ate it while he walked. His big furry hand found his greatsaber as he began searching for a means to open the door.

He looked around the frame and after a few moments found the broken door activator. With a sigh he dug his claws into the sides of the casing and pulled it open. A few moments later he had found the proper wires and spliced them together. The door opened with a groan and the long trapped air inside burst out with a whoosh. The long canned smells of the droid stronghold slapped him in the face as it burst out to mingle with the "fresh" air outside. He tipped his hat forward and walked inside. This should prove interesting.

The deathly scent of the tomb that this place had become was quite pungent. It was not the smell of fleshly decay, but of corroding metal - of a disgustingly inhuman and fleshless scent that permeated the building. Vanessa looked at Bo and smiled. "A fantastic job." Small words of praise could produce surprisingly big results. She soon followed him into Grievous' former sanctum.

"Now remember... we're here looking for droid parts. If you see something that looks like General Grievous, don't hesitate to let me know." She said. "Assumedly all the remaining parts would be together." A sigh crossed her lips. "They have to be here somewhere."

He wanted to ask who General Grievous was but he couldn't without looking dumb. The small woman knew obviously and he was confident that most droids must have similar parts, as they were metal and such. He walked in and tried to activate the light panel but nothing happened. It apparently was broken or didn't answer to his fur covered hands.

He walked forward more and stopped at the sound of a loud metallic crunching noise. He lifted his foot, bent down, and picked up what may have once been a droid leg. He was in trouble now, he was sure.

He turned and showed the leg to the woman and pointed into an adjoining room. Hopefully she would think it was a good sign and he wouldn't have to be blamed for the damaged leg.

She looked at the giant sentient panda and the droid leg he had crunched. Thankfully the leg was part of an IG-100 Magnaguard and not a former spare part of the General's body. She looked on the ground and saw a Magnaguard's wreckage - the droid had been slashed in half. "You know... maybe we can use this droid's wreckage." She moved to pull the Magnaguard's head off of its bisected body, looking at her datapad and connecting a wire from it to the droid's head. "Perhaps I can use the datapad to reactivate the droid's head, pry through its memories and get a map of this place." Vanessa sighed as the connection was made, the droid's eyes lighting up for a moment.

"There we go." She disposed of the wrecked droid, which slowly flickered down to powerlessness. "Alright... We need to take a left at the next passageway."

Bo followed as he was known to do. His large fur covered form lumbered along. Slowly so as not to excite suspicion he reached into his pocket and slowly drew out a large dumpling and stuffed it in his mouth.

Slowly and quietly he chewed as they walked and turned left at the next corridor. His mouth closed he pushed the dumpling under his teeth and chewed. The process was painfully slow to avoid unnecessary noise and equally unwanted judgement. The scent of lubricant still clung to the air and oil stained the walls where centuries of dust had clung to it forming an uneven grime on the walls.

He stepped lightly for fear of old security systems that could still have power after all this time. He watched the woman and couldn't help but wonder how she could ever be warm with so little body hair. It was almost obscene to be so pink and hairless. And let's not get started on her lack of body fat. It was evidence of Pandyn being superior evolutionarily speaking.

He opened his mouth to speak but the motion reminded him of food so he slowly stuffed another dumpling in his mouth and kept following as quickly as he could without the force.

When they took the next passageway, Vanessa noticed the door at the end. "This is it - this is what we've been looking for." Vanessa smiled as she activated her lightsaber, slowly opening the door up before they would pass into the next chamber, revealing, ot no one's surpise, a large number of spare parts for General Grievous's old mechanical shell. Some were in poor shape, having clearly been damaged across multiple missions. Others were in pristine condition - surprisingl, all things considered, but still certianly a treasure trove of components.

"Bo... I think we've found it."
