Bespin
Solstice Vine

It had been some time since a night like this was had, much less a full week. The excursion was for enjoyment only as lately, the empress' mind was anywhere but her duties. Her council, led primarily by Chika, had decided to send her away for her own good.

Thus, she found herself on Bespin, enjoying all sorts of mortal pleasures...

This night was only the third. Her first day she had spent in her room, asleep, taking full advantage of her lack of duties. The second day, Ki engaged in a spa trip, much needed, and was now ready to hit the club.

Heads turned and eyes focused on the white-furred fox, literally, as she strode in absolutely glowing. Her confidence was on full display as she bee lined to the bar and quickly ordered herself the darkest and most expensive whiskey the club had. She shot playful winks to patrons who she caught staring. A smile played her lips as she nodded along to beat of the current track, the lights a technicolor display that was strobing with the music. Her order arrived and she left payment plus as she departed the counter, bottle and glass in hand. Her eyes fell on a table on the edge of the dance floor, seating several other women who were enjoying their own drinks. The strangers were happily surprised when Ki boldly approached held up her bottle and asked if she could join them. The group, two Twi'ileks, a Torgruta, and a Human, shared a quick glance before exclaiming in excitement of a new friend.

Ki wiggled into the booth, pouring a drink when she sat, and shouted over the music as she raised her glass,"To the ladies! Drinks are on me from now on girls!"

Let the fun begin...

The Vine was packed tonight, the caretaker manager of the place had not been expecting such a large crowd for a Taungsday and had not organised any entertainment. The beads of sweat were dripping from his brow when approached Eldin to ask if he would perform. Eldin had been a few shots in by this time of the night, and besides he could name is price to get the man out of a jam.

Regardless of the ‘dutch courage’, he was nervous.

The lights in the club dimmed, setting the mood. For that brief moment before the audience eyes adjusted, Eldin walked on stage dressed in a black suit. A spotlight trailed its way to him, and the music started to play. Once it did, Eldin’s nerves vanished and he became comfortable and began to sing.

It was a small set, five songs to quill the appetites of the patrons, and place them in a good mood for the evening. He jumped off the stage and headed through the crowd, some people stopping him to say how they enjoyed his singing, a young girl slipped a piece of paper into the pocket of his jacket with a wink as he passed her.

The night was looking good.

One of the roving waitresses handed him a drink even before he reached the bar, he took a sip as he turned on the spot giving her a grin in thanks. It was then he noticed a familiar face striding through the crowd which seemed to part as she moved. As Kimiko came into view, Eldin eyes almost popped out of his head and a sudden rush of air caused him to spit out his drink. Damn!

The Empress had a good thing going on, high thigh stocking on one leg which out of all her lack of ensemble, held his attention. That and the nine tails.

He watched her make her way to a table full of girls and joined them. By now his back hit the bar, almost jolting another mouthful of drink out of him, he lamented.

“Why they always travel in packs”.

He sat alone not far from the table where several ladies began to stretch the Empress' credit chip to its limits. The service went exactly where it was predicted to go on Ladies' night: to that table multiple times, and everywhere else in the room before he finally got his wine topped off. The King understood the premise, but the dryness of his mouth demanded satisfaction.

And so, when he placed the gold on the table, he met the server's eyes. "You make sure that I get steadier service," he intoned in a low voice, "and you may get something extra."

The others were in the throes of enjoyment, but for the King it was a night of reflection. All nights seemed that way, recently. He sighed to himself as he tasted the wine again, a bit drier than the last sip. "It has a compounding effect," he glanced at the dark liquid approvingly. "Subtle."

His ruby gaze moved now toward the woman and her entourage. They made it a policy not to get involved with dignitaries, especially at social events. It was just strange to Enlil- hed never met a woman with a tail, let alone nine of them.

The night was starting to get good, and I mean good. She had learned a little bit of the basics of her newfound friends and they were even making plans to visit Akarui in the future. Drinks were rapidly coming and going as the night continued. Her ears had perked up and twitched upon recognizing the singer's sultry smooth voice and her head whipped around just as fast.

She stupidly swatted to get the table's attention,"Girls, GIRLS! I know him!" the other women giggled in delight and agreed to accompany her to the bar in search of the singer. The group drunkenly rose from their booth, careful not to spill their drinks and headed in the direction of the bar top.

While en-route, the fox's eyes caught sight of a fellow nobleman, one whom she had little interaction with in the past. She made a mental note of this and continued.

Once behind the sharp-suited man and playfully tapped on his shoulder,"Well well well, Eldin, what a surprise catching you here." she stepped to the side slightly and began pointing to her new friends (human, twi'ileks, then torgruta),"Shania, Misha, Harlow, and Li'aka, meet the one-and-only Eldin Daine of the Outer Rim." she beamed stupidly, all the usual etiquette and grace out the window.

He swallowed his drink hard, Hell now they hunt in packs to?

“Empress”,
he greeted her with a smile, before eyeing off the rest of her entourage. “Pleasure to see ya again”. He leaned in and kissed her cheek. “Nice ta meet ya ladies”. He had to admit Kimiko’s company were easy on the eye.

While they seemed to huddle and giggle in his presence, he was unaware of why, it did bring a sparkle to his eye. “What brings ya here ta Bespin?”. He found his drink again, sipped with leisure and looked to the bar.

There he was, the King himself sipping on a red, merlot he assumed. Eldin grinned, “Shall we join our lonely friend over there?”, one finger on the glass pointed to the Merlot Merlin. “Ladies, that there is a true king”, Eldin explained to the girls, who became intrigued and delighted at the thought of meeting King.

Eldin leaned closer to them all, to tell them a ‘secret’, “Word is, he’s lookin’ for a Queen”, he whispered, and he winked, before downing the last of the contents of his whiskey. “Drinks all round!”, it was time for some fun and a fresh drink.

The sudden influx of interest tore his attention from the wine goblet he was nursing. Looks from the direction of the nine-tailed woman's table came suddenly after the main event graced them with his presence. Enlil leaned forward and put his drink down. Was the other man plotting something?

The King folded his hands and rested both forearms on the table tentatively, gathering his thoughts. He had hosted grand parties and been the center of attention, so it was not a foreign concept. Enlil simply needed his mind in the right place.

Drinks all around was the cue. That was when the water hurried to top off his drink and earned his tip. It was when the two tables converged seamlessly into conversation, despite their distance.

"Your generosity knows no limit, Sheriff. Truly, you are the most eligible man in the sector."

He pointedly raised his glass toward the man in deference, a subtle ploy to cede all attentions to Eldin.

Ki giggled at the display, especially when her new companions oohed and awed at the prospect of two of the finest bachelors presented before them. She sipped on her whiskey taking a place within earshot of both of the men and stood smiling like a mischievous puppet master,"Ladies, what would you say to a game, specifically one of chance?" her eyes traced the gathered over the rim of her glass before continuing,"And let's say the prizes have already presented themselves to us..."

She innocently looked at her two friends as the group gathered and awaited the acceptance of challenge...

A smirk crossed Eldin’s face, ah no not going to fall for this. “Me generosity has limits King Enlil”, he pressed the man’s title with emphasis, “Me paypacket only stretches so far. On the other hand, ya a man of great wealth”. His grin grew as the attention returned to his opponent.

Both of the men were out played by Kimiko, seconds later. “A wager I can get behind, but I ain’t worth it Empress”, what was she up to? A couple of the girls in her company sidled up to Enlil which the rest eyes him off, regardless of what he said.

It’s a trap!

“I take it that Enlil and I can play this game of yours?”, now the boys had to work together to get out of this. “What would be the stakes if we win?”. Eldin eyed Kimiko as if looking over the prize.

There was a seriousness about him when the banter advanced and the rest of the group became more eager. The King wondered at what the tailed woman intended, all the while mindful of looks from her entourage and the playful musings of Eldin Daine Eldin Daine

"Great wealth does not make a man great," he leaned forward, eyes forward like a hawk watching prey intently. "It makes him a target."

Enlil, however, was far more predator than prey. He reached for his goblet with one hand, took a small sip, then replaced it on the table without taking his eyes from Kimiko Taiyou Kimiko Taiyou , wary now of her intentions. "I would also like to know that," he agreed with Eldin suddenly, "What sort of prize would you offer to entice a King?"
