Originally developed by Merr-Sonn Munitions, Inc. as part of a modular equipment package for private security firms and bounty hunter collectives, the GravBinder Clamp is a compact, high-efficiency transport aid designed for solo operatives working in unpredictable environments. While Merr-Sonn is best known for its weapons and combat gear, the growing need for non-lethal retrieval tools—especially in urban bounty operations—led to the creation of this device.
Roughly the size of a thick datapad, the GravBinder Clamp affixes magnetically or via adhesive to the torso or back of an unconscious or incapacitated target. Once activated, it deploys a small repulsorlift generator that suspends the body approximately half a meter off the ground. Gyroscopic stabilisers keep the load level and prevent dangerous rolling or tipping during transport. The bounty can then be pulled along using a retractable magnetic tether or guided remotely via a linked wrist controller. Some models come equipped with a non-lethal shock deterrent and a burst stasis-foam injector to further secure or preserve fragile targets.
Though not as secure or long-term as carbonite encasement, the GravBinder Clamp is designed for fast recovery and movement—perfect for hauling a massive target across city streets, starports, or hangar bays without attracting too much attention. Its primary limitations are tied to power duration (2–5 hours of lift time, depending on the payload) and vulnerability to ion or EMP interference, which can disable the device in the middle of a transport. Additionally, the unit lacks any form of independent navigation—it must be physically guided or pulled by the user and cannot move itself without direct input.
While never mass-produced for galactic security forces, GravBinder units have found their way into the hands of licensed bounty hunters and well-connected mercenaries—individuals who value quiet efficiency over brute-force solutions.
