STRENGTHS
  • Hangar Space - Though otherwise incapable of supporting military Capital Ships or craft, the Gratiae-class station is more than capable of supporting civilian vessels of varying sizes throughout multiple hangar bays. Each of these hangars is separated by their respective sectors, with each sector further organized based on the needs and the means of those individual sectors; with the largest of these hangars being capable of handling a civilian vessel up to one-thousand meters in length.
  • Various Amenities - Designed to meet the needs of tens of thousands of individuals from all walks of life; each station is known to house various restaurants, hotels, casinos, and other amenities for both visiting tourists as well as permanent residents who call the station home. Examples of these amenities also include Entertainment Sectors, Botanical Gardens, and artificial green spaces such as Parks, Lakes, and Atriums.
  • Heavily Defended - What the Gratiae-class lacks in offensive armaments, starfighters, and bomber squadrons, it more than compensates with its slew of defensive measures and capabilities. These range from Point-Defense cannons and Anti-Missile systems utilized to scare off pirates and defend from harmful stellar debris and asteroids to more sophisticated systems such as Electronic Countermeasures and Missile Deactivation Transmitters. Each station is also protected by reinforced hull plating and multiple redundant Deflector Shield Generators to ensure the safety of the station, its staff, and its residents.
WEAKNESSES
  • Civilian Station - The Gratiae-class Station is a civilian station and as such lacks any form of offensive armaments, whilst also lacking the capability to maintain and deploy military Starfighters or Bomber squadrons.
  • Minimal Mobility - Due to its position in a synchronized orbit, the station is only capable of minimal maneuvers, often those that are minor corrections that maintain its orbit above a planet. Each Gratiae-class Station is, in effect, a building floating in space that is otherwise incapable of performing evasive maneuvers and is incapable of achieving rapid acceleration, or any acceleration for that matter.
  • Safe-Lock System - As the Gratiae-class is classified as a Civilian station, and lacks offensive weaponry, an additional failsafe was added to prevent the defensive systems from being utilized in an offensive capacity. This safe-lock system renders the weapons inert and incapable of firing unless an immediate or perceived threat against the station is known; with the systems being rendered inert once the threat has passed or been dealt with appropriately.
  • Ventral Structures - Located along the underside of the station are multiple structures that house the various Ion Drives, Repulsorlift Engines, and Tractor Beam Arrays that are vital to keeping the station in a synchronized orbit around the planet. Damage to these vulnerable sections has the potential to cause the vessel to begin its descent toward the planet, with the worst-case scenario resulting in the station plummeting to the surface below.
  • How Could You Miss? - Size alone makes the station a tantalizing target and very difficult to miss should one decide to fire a salvo against the station. In the event that an individual does manage to miss the station when firing upon it, we highly suggest that said individual see the nearest medical professional who specializes in ophthalmology.
DESCRIPTION
The newly established conflict between the Galactic Alliance and the Mandalorian Enclave has also resulted in staggering losses, both in life and property, amongst the denizens of the Galaxy. Nowhere more is this true than in the recently sacked planetary systems along the southern border of Alliance Territory, and as the people of Yag'Dhul, Kiffu, Thyferra, and a half-dozen other worlds begin to rebuild and count their losses, the Alliance is faced with a new bitter result of the conflict, refugees. As the Galactic Alliance must now face a new Refugee Crisis, the means to tend to those who have been displaced have already begun to fall upon the shoulders of the average citizen, whilst others have already begun to step forward to assist the Alliance, a statement true to the upstart company known as Aether Systems.

Stepping forward to assist the Galactic Alliance, Aether Systems has begun to establish itself as a predominate Starshipwright within Alliance Territory, whilst also beginning to deploy its vast resources to assist in handling the growing Refugee Crisis created as a result of the Mandalorian Invasion. To this end, Aether Systems has developed the Gratiae-class Orbital Space Colony and deployed these structures in orbit over the Deep Core world of Keera Major, the headquarters of the company. Designed solely as a civilian station, the Gratiae-class lacks the more common offensive weaponry that is often installed aboard other orbital stations. Its primary, and to many, sole purpose is to provide housing and employment to many of those individuals that were displaced from any of a dozen or more worlds along the Galactic Alliance's southern expanse; with each station containing a myriad of amenities for individuals of all walks of life, including artificial green spaces such as Parks, Lakes, and Terrariums, as well as both Upscale and General Residential Sectors. Each Residential Sector contains a specialized biome generator that can recreate any biological environment, allowing for a wide variety of species to reside on the station.

What the Gratiae-class lacks in offensive capabilities, it more than compensates with its defensive measures, allowing it to withstand heavy assaults or successive strikes from stellar debris or asteroids due to its reinforced hull plating and multiple redundant deflector shield generators. Each station is also further protected by sophisticated Electronic countermeasures, as well as point defense weapons which are secured with a safe-lock system that prevents their misuse. Located along the ventral section of the station are a series of highly industrialized sectors that contain the Ion Drives, Repulsorlife Engines, and Tractor Beam Arrays that assist in keeping the station in a synchronized orbit around the planet. These sectors are highly vulnerable and offer a tantalizing target, with successive damage having the potential to result in a catastrophic outcome of the station crashing into the surface of the planet.

Though otherwise incapable of supporting militarized Capital Ships or smaller craft such as Starfighters, the station was designed with ample hangar space that can easily provide support and maintenance to civilian craft. Many of these Sectors can house vessels up to fifty meters in length, with each of these areas organized into private, civilian, and commercial supply hangars, with the largest of these hangars being capable of housing a vessel up to one thousand meters in length.

Overall the Gratiae-class provides an answer to the newest problem that the Galactic Alliance is facing due to the ongoing conflict with the Mandalorians with its benefits largely outweighing its drawbacks and potential issues. Though incapable of deploying offensive weaponry, accelerating to higher speeds, or even performing nimble maneuvers, the station succeeds in its primary role as a colony. It provides the means to ensure that those displaced by the conflict have a place to call home, as well as the means to continue to contribute to the economy and workforce of the Galactic Alliance.
