Intent: It will primarily be used by the character Tarek'Gor and his related NPC's but may also be used by other Avidon Oligarchy members. It is designed to serve as an empty location within which an organization can live and grow.

Classification: Abandoned Fortress

Location: Located on Avidon in the system on the planet of Danalia. The fortress is located on one of the planets frigid and mountainous poles.

Affiliation: Avidon Oligarchy. Currently owned by an NPC. In future and for the purposes of this submission it is owned by Tarek'Gor

Population: The fortress is currently in disrepair and abandoned. Its maximum population is restricted to 3500.

Defences: The first line of defence for the fortress is its secrecy. Its isolated and remote location make it unlikely to be found and its presence is not part of the general galactic record. Travel to and from the fortress is typically done underwater. The existence of the fortress is guarded carefully from outsiders. Those individuals who are required to know the location of the fortress are either under the employment of its master or sworn to secrecy of its location.

The fortresses underground nature offers considerable protection from both orbital detection and bombardment but a sustained bombardment may cause considerable damage to its subsurface structures, provided the fortress can be found. Ground assault would likely prove more fruitful then orbital attack, though it is complicated by the cold weather and the amphibious location.

The fortress contains no defensive weaponry at this time.

Description:

The most significant feature of this location is its frigid temperature. Day time temperatures average -35C while night-time temperatures average -60C but are known to dip below -80C particularly in winter. Geothermal vents usually keep the oceans near the fortress thawed over a radius of a few [SIZE=11.9999990463257px]kilometres[/SIZE], but the surface is known to freeze often.

Only the tip of the fortress and a nearby spire are usually visible as a majority of it resides underground. On occasions of high tide the fortress may be completely concealed and frozen underwater. The primary entrance from the surface leads to a throne room which contains an elaborate throne but no other decorations. Secondary entrances offer entrance to lower levels but these will often be sealed to prevent water from entering from above.

Directly below the throne room lies a housing multiplex. The multiplex is split into two major parts. A larger area appears to be designed as living quarters for servants or slaves. A smaller area with larger rooms appears designated for the fortresses military garrison. Both are empty and in a major state of disrepair at this time.

Below the housing multiplex exist a series of caverns. The first is a large cavern that appears to have historically been used for hydroponic farming and food-storage. With a size of about 500mx500m if efficient hydroponic farming methods were implemented the cavern could likely grow food for upto 1000-1200 people and at the same time store about 1 years food for the same. The cavern is seeded with fertile soil and some wild crops currently grow within it.

The largest known cavern beneath the fortress lies below the farming level. The combination of damaged, rusting and destroyed machinery and droids indicates that this cavern may once been used as a shipyard. Its enormous size would allow for a single cruiser and a number of freighters to comfortably fit within. An enormous door (currently sealed and non-functional) connects the chamber with the ocean on the other side . A smaller door exists next to the larger one would allow a freighter or smaller vessel to access the chamber. It is currently functional. The ceiling of this cavern appears to have been reinforced at some time in the past, likely to protect whatever was being built from a cave in.

Below the enormous shipyard chasm lies a smaller chamber that houses a partially functioning geothermal power-plant. It contains some abandoned equipment that would have been useful in starship construction however due to it degenerative state, nothing remains functional or salvageable. An abandoned mining tunnel is connected to this chasm indicating that the fortress once built ships without input of raw materials from the outside. However the viability of additional mining remains unknown and the mining shaft itself has long since collapsed.

The final explored chamber of the caverns is a large living area with rooms meant for the fortress' owner and his/her guests. All rooms are currently in a major state of disrepair.

Additional chambers exist below the living area but these are sealed off and unexplored.


History: In a tale lost to history a wayward Sith lord fled to the Avidon system and used his remaining resources build the fortress at Gor'Heights as a staging area for his eventual return to power. Tarek'Gor believes an ancestor of his was an apprentice to this sith lord and he eventually supplanted his master in the general manner of the Sith. Since then the fortress was passed down hereditarily until it was eventually given to Tarek'Gor. The fortress has not been used in centuries and lies in a major state of disrepair.

An interesting submission,

Due to the sheer size of the location, as stated by its ability to house a cruiser, I'm going to ask for a dev thread to be done. It can be discovery of the location or the history surrounding its creation. 10 posts and at least one writer should do it.

Edit: Almost missed the power generator. I'll get back to you on that.
