ODESSEN - CAIROKA'S GATE
QUARTERMASTER'S WORKSHOP - FIRING RANGE
1002 HOURS LOCAL TIME
[INSPIRATION]
As they got closer, the operatives would likely notice that each of the mannequins -- standing in for the firing range paper targets -- bore the face of one of the galaxy's villains, either of today or of yesteryear. The central mannequin bore the face of
"Ah -- come in," said Avenyx Bevan, looking up from her preparation as she heard shuffling. "Just wherever you can find a spot. You can sit on those crates if you like." The redhead looked around, noting those in attendance, smiled tightly. "Welcome to my workshop. If you haven't been here before, this is usually a firing range where you can practice with your weapons or test out the prototypes Q Branch is working on. Today I've repurposed things for a bit of an icebreaking exercise." She gestured toward the mannequins. "As you can see, our guests here are some of the many villains that have plagued the galaxy -- or are currently doing so. We'll come back to them in a moment."
She pushed her white labcoat back behind her pockets so she could jam her hands into her trouser pockets. "This -- Station C -- is new to all of us. We don't know one another well, at least not all of us do. So I thought we'd rectify that a little. In order to fully utilize all of our strengths, I need to know how you like to operate. Where your strengths are. How your mind works. Say there are ten people in the room; I suspect if I said you had the opportunity to neutralize the Emperor under a specific set of circumstances and asked you how you'd do it, I'd get ten different answers. Some of you may like the direct approach -- a blaster to the head. Others, maybe something quieter, a knife." She drew a blade from her pocket and turned, flinging it at Solipsis' head. The butt of the blade bounced harmlessly off the mannequin's shoulder, but did lodge into Sularen's shoulder on the rebound.
Bevan glanced sheepishly back at the group. "Well... we've all got our strengths. That's the point. So, this exercise is for several purposes. First, given the chance, how would you neutralize the threat? Note that assassination is certainly allowed, but not required. Second, I want to get to know your methods, your approaches, your preferences. That way I can get a good idea for what missions will best utilize your strengths. And obviously I want you to get to know one another, too. Bounce ideas off one another, work together, riff -- whatever. Have fun with it. And while we're here, if you have ideas for a type of weapon or gadget that you'd like to have access to for your missions, that's also my department, so we can chat about it and I'll see what I can do about getting you exactly what you need."
A beat, and she spread her hands. "Right, then. If there are no questions?" The Quartermaster folded her hands together in front of her. "Let's say we're able to land you in the Throne Room spire of the Death Star III that was heisted from Atrisia with the Emperor on board. What's next? Don't be shy."
