The G-2 Premium Security Droid was designed by Wendell Mortimer Glolmark as a new and improved version of the ubiquitous G-1 Security Droids of the Glolmark Corporation. He has sold limited numbers of G-2s to outside buyers, but has kept a majority of them for himself. Many owners of these droids (including Glolmark himself) use them as officers to command larger forces of G-1s in battle. They are also useful as an “elite guard” for special assignments, due to their advanced capabilities.
G-2 Premium Security Droids themselves are equipped with far more “bells and whistles” than the standard G-1. Most notably, they posses the ability to fly via the use of rocket boots. These boots generally do not allow for sustained, high altitude flight, but they are more than capable of providing additional angles of attack in battle. Another notable addition is the chest-mounted laser beam. This beam can be used in combat, but is also useful for cutting open structures such as sealed blast doors. A final feature of note is the retractable arm blade. This blade is not capable of withstanding more than a few blows from a lightsaber, but is dangerously effective against other traditional blades. The droids are surprisingly cunning fighters, and are not afraid to fight dirty.
