Description:

Following the advancements made by the Silver Jedi Order and their crusades to wipe the darkness from the galaxy and restore order, they absolutely knew they would need assistance. Following the age-old traditions of the old Jedi Orders, they often enlisted the help of a valiant cadre of individuals who lent their services to stand and fight alongside the Jedi against the forces of chaos and evil. Though they are not known to the galaxy at large, the Silver Shadows are a very real (or not) organization of the Silver Jedi Order. Often tasked with hunting down Sith, Dark Jedi, and other threats to the Lightside and galactic stability as a whole, they too would need help.

The first recruits for the Legion were drafted from the Silver Order's very own Antarian Rangers. The Rangers themselves were an elite few already, bravely combating any foe that dared threaten the Order's ideals or existence. Highly trained in the arts of light infantry tactics, special operations doctrines, and many other valuable military assets, the Legionnaires are the elite within the elite. As such, they would need outstanding equipment and armor to help them complete the various missions and their specific parameters that would need to be met.

Armor:
The very basis of the armor was designed around the age-old uniform concept. It all starts with the base black and grey uniform and black combat boots. The uniform itself is constructed of an extremely thin layer of armorweave and other simple cloths such as polyester and cotton blended with it. It's quite comfortable and endures constant movement and tearing while also being breatheable, but offers almost no protection when in combat. That's where the armored plating comes into play. Almost 85% of the wearer's form is covered by armor when attached. The armor itself is constructed of layered plasteel and plastoid with a thin layer of armorweave underneath it to assist in dissipating the effects of energy weapons. Although there are various weak points about the armor, most notable being the joints, it is easily countered by offering the wearer extreme mobility and options to attach additional equipment. Also, on the left shoulder pad of every Legionnaire is a MED REF patch that allows the combat medics of the Legion to easily gain a medical reference to an injured Legionnaire in the field.
  • Armored Vest: Plasteel, extends all the way down front and back
  • Shoulder Plating: Plasteel, extends to halfway down bicep
  • Elbow Pads: Plastoid
  • Thigh Pads: Plastoid
  • Knee Pads: Plastoid
  • Combat Boots: Cattle hide, breathable nylon mesh, quick-dry

Helmet:
The helmet worn by the Shadow Legionnaires is constructed of a plasteel-plastoid alloy much like the armor plating across the rest of the wearer's form. It's a little heavy considering the plating is slightly thicker than the rest of the plating, but makes up for this in the survival factor. On the interior is a padding of black mesh that conforms to the wearer's head for added comfort in combat.

VIS/HUD:
The Visual Intelligence System/Heads-Up-Display is an electronic readout configured to the face mask of the helmet. Through technological advancements, the VIS/HUD is often merely just connected to a special style of goggles made for the Gladius-model armor. The VIS/HUD is a propriety data management system that enables the user to link in with command uplinks and even access the HoloNet and other channels. However, actual access to these channels is dictated by a need/rating basis. In addition to these features, the VIS/HUD can also be linked to the electronic readouts of most weapons, giving the user the ability to see his current ammunition status and assistance in target acquisition and marksmanship.

Rucksack:
This is the staple of the equipment issued to the Legionnaires. It's basically an armored backpack that attaches to the back of the armored vest worn by Legionnaires. The main purpose is storage, which allows the Legionnaire the capability to store equipment, ranging from ammunition, to medical supplies, to explosives, to battery packs for extra equipment, and to extra communications equipment. For longer missions, Legionnaires carry larger rucksacks that allow them to carry up to two weeks of supplies with external resupply. These rucksacks also have integrated magnetic holding devices. For instance, if a Leigonnaire wished to carry an extra rifle into combat, he could merely attach it to the magnetic locks, eliminating the need for straps or slings.

The Gladius-model BDU is, in short, an extremely valuable asset to the upcoming military force that the Silver Jedi Order will extensively use. Although the armor components of the uniform aren't the best, they sure can keep Legionnaires alive when the going gets tough. Comfortable, mobile, and modular.
