Gerwald is the middle of three born to a seemingly unimportant family on Stewjon. The family was part of the working class and treated as any member of the working class would be under such an oppressive government. Despite the conditions of their government, Gerwald saw his father push through beyond what they were meant to be. Gerwald was raised to be a warrior. From a young age Gerwald trained until the change.
HISTORY
The change was something Gerwald had been raised to expect, a secret the Lechner family had kept from the rest of society. The lupine family knew if their secret had been discovered they would have been hunted as monsters, so until Gerwald learned control, he was forced to remain home.
Years passed and Gerwald found himself among the warriors as Ubba had always intended for his son. He was granted a better life than those forced to work, that was until the terrors came. No one knew what to call them, but it had been the force which brought them together. They would fight as though they were one people, no different classes, equals among each other aside from the Lords and Ladies. They fought to protect their way of life. They fought long. The war went on for too long.
When the Confederacy arrived with their Knights Obsidian the people were too desperate to allow their pride to turn away the help. It had been during that battle Gerwald saw people able to move things with just the command of their thoughts as he had been able to do on occasion. The ability had been latent, brought on during battle when his life was at stake, but it was better to be force sensitive than for the people to know he was a wolf and calling him a demon.
It was at the celebration Gerwald learned the CIS had lupines among them. He would never forget the scent, and in that first instance made the decision he would leave with the Knights Obsidian. Leaving his family was the only way to know more about who he was, and the others like him. His path led away from Stwejon, from the only home and family he ever knew.
His time with the Confederacy was wrought with duty and sorrow. There were few memories he would call happy, but such was the nature of war. There had been enough of them to keep him pushing forward. It was there he met
Naedira Darcrath
, someone he would form a deep bond with. Her death marked an important place in his development. Pursuing a promise to bring her back would force him to lean into the teachings of several mentors,
Srina Talon
and Voph being two of the most prominent. He would make other friendships, none more impactful than what he formed with
Lunara Azure
. Their common pain of loss made them a great support
With their guidance and support, Gerwald would eventually become the captain of the Vicelord’s personal guard, and ascend through the ranks of the Knights Obsidian until the day came when he became the Lord Commander of the Order. Every decision he made was questioned, though in the end none of it would matter as an otherworldly catastrophe dismantled the Confederacy, a fate Voph had hoped to stop.
In the years that would follow Gerwald would learn about who he was, where his clan had come from. This led him to Islimore where he met several other Lupos. Their culture was not one he fit into. His time among them had been important as he learned where their species had come from. Gerwald still carries that secret close to his chest.
He would find his way to the Sith Order eventually. Word had reached his ears that Empyrean had taken leadership among the Sith with plans to ascend. Gerwald pledged his loyalty to the would be emperor, and soon reunited with his mistress Darth Omnia, Srina Talon. Overcoming his pride, he asked her to help bring Naedira back into the world of the living, to keep his promise. There was a high price to pay, but Gerwald paid it regardless.
