STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES:
Driven: As if the hounds of hell themselves were at his heels Gerhard is driven to succeed. If a job needs doing, he can be counted on to get the job done, the risks be damned. This drive keeps him ahead of his peers and gives him the extra motivation to strive for excellence. Being naturally driven is one of his major strengths. Even when others may lose sense of purpose, Gerhard does not and is able to then drive others forward as well.
Apt Strategist: Through both experience and study, Gerhard has learned and is able to apply a wide range of strategies in naval warfare. This has allowed himself and his crew to stay alive even in situations where the enemy had discounted them as lost. By watching and encountering the strategy of allies and enemies alike he has become adept at adjusting to the situation around him which can be especially useful in combat, where the battlefield is constantly changing.
Decisive: The nature of combat demands that decisions be made without hesitation. Gerhard is a quick decision maker, able to quickly analyze and process the situation and make choices accordingly. Thanks to his lack of hesitation he is able to seize opportunities that others may miss due to indecisiveness and reservation.
Shrewd: Gerhard Commands with an iron fist. Commands issued are expected to be followed immediately and completely, any deviance from his commands earns the perpetrator the maximum punishment allowed for the offence. While commanding with equal parts awe and fear, he has established an admonishment from the men under his command. They see him as hard, but fair, which is quite accurate. This can help him make decisions others might struggle with but it also has the possibility of alienating those around him.
Lack of Empathy: Both in part to his own experiences and that of his personality, Gerhard finds it difficult to empathize with others. As part of this character flaw he comes across as cold and calculating to both allies and enemies alike. He also finds it hard to be attached to others, at least outwardly. Attachments are viewed as liabilities and as such Gerhard tries to keep them to a minimum.
Non-Ground Combatant: While skilled in the use of blaster pistols, Gerhard is no ground warfare enthusiast and has trouble grasping ground combat tactics. In addition, he is unskilled with blaster rifles and basic ground combat fundamentals. Due to this he is relatively useless unless he is commanding a vessel.
APPEARANCE:
Fair skinned with dark brown hair, Gerhard poses a striking figure only enhanced by the long scar that cuts down the right side of his face. Received in a battle where his ship was damaged almost to the point of destruction he was able to recover and destroy the enemy ship that had delivered the pounding. (This will be fleshed out eventually, pardon the pun).
BIOGRAPHY:
Gerhard Maxim was born and raised in Prosperia, sister city to Dosuun. From a young age it was his goal to become a Naval Officer, somewhat influenced by his grandfather who had more claim in raising the young boy than his father who worked on a mining ship. His mother had died at a young age, his only memories of her consisting of clouded images of a hospital and his mother, bedridden. As a teen, Gerhard set his mind on joining the legions of the First Order. As his graduation from school came near to an end, he instead decided to join the Officer's Academy, rather than enlisting. After graduating the Naval Academy, Gerhard was the XO on Frigate for several years before being promoted to his own command. As a Frigate Commander he made a name for himself, training and executing one of the most disciplined crews in the fleet, at least one of the most. Recently promoted to a Inflictor-class Cruiser, he now commands the FIV Arrogant. As Commander of the Arrogant, he has personally seen to it that he crew is one of the most prepared in the fleet, drills happening when the crew least expects it. Despite his fast paced leadership style, he recognizes when the crew needs a break; the goal is to sharpen the men to a fine edge, not break them.
As his command aboard the Arrogant came to a close, the Commander has now been given command of a Locust-class Torpedo Frigate, a deadly ship in its own right, even moreso with Gerhard at the helm.
