Good Ol' Scoundrel
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
Having a massive database and pattern matching software, the scanner uses the shapes, sizes and angles of objects to conclude what they are. This allows it to detect, otherwise invisible to scanners, stealth objects. Of course, that is limited only if they are not invisible as an object as well.
Strengths:
DESCRIPTION
Contour was developed accidentally by two Underground operatives working closely with the Kathol Outback. What would you expect from a drop out navigator and a 'communication specialist' who had learned everything from Holotube.
Nonetheless, the result was quite satisfying.
With the increasing usage of stealth technology, Contour is an adequate counter-measure. It utilizes a geometrical analytic system rather than an energy analytic system such as most scanners (thermal, magnetic, x-ray and etc.). Contour has a very sophisticated system capable of matching patterns of objects shapes and figuring out on its own what that object is.
The best way and the only way suggested to use Contour is synchronizing it with the other scanners on board. Why ? Only then it is capable of filtering results of its scanning to objects that the other scanners failed to 'see.'
What does this mean ? 10 starships out there, 1 is using stealth technology. A generic scanner sees 9. Contour sees 10. It would be efficient and more productive to set Contour to deliver only the 1 ship that the generic scanner missed (as it is under stealth) rather than all 10 and end up overlapping the information.
- Intent: To introduce a sophisticated scanner capable of detecting objects under stealth.

- Manufacturer: The Kathol Outback
- Model: Contour
- Affiliation: The Kathol Outback; The Underground
- Modularity: No
- Production: Mass-Produced
- Material: Durasteel, scanner components
- Geometrical Analysis

Strengths:
- Stealth Detector: Contour's biggest strength lies in the fact it is capable of detecting otherwise undetectable objects under stealth as described in the special features section.
- Universal: Can be used aboard starships of all sizes to vehicles of all sizes.
- Medium-Range: The scanner's range is lower than standard scanners.
- Active Scanning: Unlike electrotelescopes, this scanner is active thus others are able to pick up on the waves it sends. Just like most other scanners.
