PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
Standing nearly six and a half feet tall and weighing in at 240 pounds, Gel Karn has spent years developing the strength and muscle mass needed to be an armorer, a job he performs admirably well in service to the Iron Covenant. Gel is light skinned with short brown hair and and brown eyes, and sports no facial hair, preferring to be completely clean shaven to avoid any chance of his face catching fire while he is forging. Gel's arms sport dozens of minor burn scars, most of which he received when he just started out as an armorer, along with a Ka'rta tattoo on his chest, which is only the first of many tattoos that Gel plans on getting once he has redeemed himself through his service to the Iron Covenant.
INVENTORY
Though Gel is most at home in his forge, he doesn't really have any qualms about going into the field of battle to support his brothers and sisters-in-arms during combat operations, though the armor he wears is highly unusual even by Mandalorian standards. His Beskar helmet is festooned with a pair of mandibles that Gel claims comes from a juvenile Mythosaur, while his armorer's tunic doubles as a Jazerant, one constructed out of Armorweave, Beskar Chainmail and Spacers Leather. Gel also tends to wear a Utility Belt, Heat Resistance Gloves and Boots and various storage pouches full of tools that he uses to make in field repairs. Gel rarely, if ever, travels without his Beskar Gravity Hammer and Magnetic Tongs, and occasionally wields a Vibroshield or Bev Shield on his left arm.
PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS
Contrary to his muscular appearance, Gel Karn is rather shy and soft spoken, much preferring to spend his time tinkering and forging than being in the presence of other people and droids. Gel feels intensely guilty for having forged weapons and armor for the Sith and their Mandalorian allies, which prompted his many attempts to escape his enslavement to
STRENGTHS
- Metalsmith: Gel has years of metal smithing experience, especially when it comes to working with Beskar. Nonetheless, Gel is comfortable with working with nearly any type of metal that he might be asked to use, and anything that he forges is almost always of the highest quality possible
- Leathersmith: Gel is also surprisingly experienced in working with leathers and other textiles, an important but often overlooked facet of armor and weapon construction. This enables him to craft and repair straps, slings, and storage bags for his allies
- Muscular: As someone who spends hours a day lifting heavy pieces of metal and hitting them thousands of time with his Beskar Gravity Hammer, Gel has developed the strength and muscle mass needed to be a frightening person to face in melee combat
- Heat resistance: The forge where Gel works can get quite hot at times, especially when Gel works for hours a time without taking a break. This enables Gel to deal with high temperatures and extreme heat better than most
WEAKNESSES
- Blaster deficiency: In an ironic twist of fate, Gel is laughably incompetent when it comes to using blasters and slug throwers against his enemies, perhaps due to his particularly large and calloused hands and the psychological torture that he suffered at the hands of the Sith. Oddly enough, this deficiency does not apply to thrown weapons, such as throwing axes or grenades
- Large target: As far as humans go, Gel is a rather large and bulky target, making it much easier for enemies to hit him in melee or with ranged attacks
- Guilty: As someone who comes from a proud tradition of armorers, Gel is often crushed by the weight of his guilty conscience, since many of his creations have been used by the Sith Order to further their conquest of the known galaxy
- Quiet: By nature, Gel isn't much of a talker or even necessarily social, which can lead to assumptions that he is a cold an uncaring person. Gel also tends to be over serious at times, due to the weight of his perceived sins against the Mandalorian people.
HISTORY
For all of his life, Gel Karn has known little more than servitude and slavery.
Gel Karn was born into the Death's Hand, a group of Sith aligned Mandalorians, and at an early age his family taught him how to be an armorer, a job where Gel would be required to create weapons, armor and equipment for those who might have need of such items. It was a job that Gel seemingly had an innate talent for, and one that he absolutely hated doing, due to the fact that his creations were being used for evil under the auspices of both the Sith and the Mandalorians.
When however the Death's Hand collapsed, Gel, who was now a teenager, saw his chance to escape his life once and for all, though his family was less than supportive of his attempts to do so. Not only did they refuse to go with him, they knocked him unconscious, forcibly tied and bound him in Beskar chains, and delivered him to the Sith controlled world of Seswenna, where they sold him to the highest bidder: the Sith Lord
For the next fifteen years of his life, Gel would labor away in the factories of Seswenna, learning the skills he needed to become a master armorer while plotting, and failing, to escape multiple times. Whenever he would fail, he would be tortured by the Sith, though whatever happened to him was not physical in nature, as the Sith valued his body and its ability to produce them weapons of war. Instead, the torture that Gel went through was entirely psychological and designed to break his spirit, though it was likely that Gel was unfortunate enough to experience the sting of Sith Lightning more than once in his lifetime.
The Sith might have nearly succeeded if not for the intervention of the Iron Covenant, who invaded Seswenna and liberated Gel from his captivity, welcoming him into their faction with open arms. Grateful for being given a second chance at life, Gel immediately sworn and oath to
Though the circumstances of Gel's life were not his fault, he can't help but feel intensely guilty for what he had done and what he has created. With that guilt comes hatred of the Sith and those who work with them, and Gel has vowed to support the Iron Covenant's attempts to destroy the Sith once and for all, even if that means he may lose his life in the process!
