  • Primary Source: N/A

PRODUCTION INFORMATION
  • Manufacturer: GDI Incorporated
  • Affiliation: GDI Incorporated
  • Market Status: Open-Market
  • Model: ‘Guardian Defense Engineering’-01 Antimatter Reactor System
  • Modularity: Can be scaled up or down in size depending on the size of the craft or machinery utilizing the reactor system.
  • Production: Mass-Produced
  • Material:
    • Agrinium
    • Chromium
    • Transparisteel
    • Power Conversion Components
    • Containment Field
    • Reactor Overload Stabilizers (Within larger scale systems)
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Antimatter Reactions: The GDE-01 power core provides massive amounts of energy via chaining overlapping antimatter reactions within a containment field inside the casing of the core. This allows for very large amounts of energy to be available for use by whatever is utilizing the core.
  • Containment Field: In order to contain the above mentioned reactions, the GDE-01 is provided with a specially calibrated containment field which shields the actual casing from the intense explosions taking place inside to generate the energy to be utilized by the equipment it is installed within.
STRENGTHS
  • +Scalable: The GDE-01 is capable of producing massive amounts of energy for either small or large craft/machinery as needed, taking the form of a small power core within star fighters and speeders, or a full reactor system within the bowels of a capital ship.
  • +Antimatter Generation & Storage (See Antimatter Reactions above): This particular power core utilizes antimatter technology to generate massive amounts of energy via a series of reactions caused inside the power core. In order to harness and store this energy, the system also includes a series of nano-capacitors that store the energy so that the core does not have to constantly be active to have sufficient energy on hand, which reduces the risk of power core failure or overuse.
WEAKNESSES
  • -Volatile: Given the means through which this power core generates its energy, it is almost redundant to state this renders the core particularly volatile. While the containment field, chromium/agrinium casing, and reactor stabilizers in larger systems renders the core completely safe during normal operation, should either the casing or field emitter suffer sufficient damage, the result would be catastrophic for both the core itself, and whatever equipment it is used within (along with the sentient utilizing the equipment).
  • -Sensitive Calibration: While the GDE-01 is fairly stable when operating under normal parameters (assuming it does not suffer significant damage as noted in the previous weakness), initial integration requires meticulous calibration and commissioning to ensure the sheer power it is capable of providing does not overload the host craft or piece of equipment.
DESCRIPTION
Guardian Defense Engineering, as a subsidiary of Guardian Defense Industries, has worked to develop its own antimatter reactor system to power the war machines currently in development, as well as to retrofit existing machinery designed around third party means of power generation in an effort to become more self reliant. To meet this need, the GDE-01 Antimatter Reactor System was born. Similar to other antimatter cores on the market, the GDE-01 is rather straightforward in its design and function - namely to provide massive amounts of power in a scalable size for all manner of machinery, whether it be a main battle tank, a fighter, or a starship.

Given the developing relationship between GDI and Karavin Concern, the GDE-01 was designed upon shared research into the ‘Arcturas’ Antimatter Core in exchange for GDI’s cooperation in developing other systems, such as the KC-M44 Hellstorm Macro Cannon. The main difference between the Arcturas and the GDE-01 begins with the obvious fact that the Arcturas is a proprietary product of the Eternal Empire; the GDE-01 is an adaptation of the Arturas’ technology. Secondly, the Arcturas is specially designed for smaller craft, and is adapted to enhance the performance of said craft it is built within. The GDE-01 is designed with scalability in mind, to serve as a foundational energy platform for any size host machine, be it a main battle tank, or a 2 kilometer-long starship.

In smaller sized machinery, the GDE-01 is reminiscent of the Arcturas as it takes on the form of a power core, operating very similar to its predecessor. The larger the craft or machinery is, the larger the system becomes, featuring multiple power cores within craft larger than a standard speeder but smaller than a starship. Once entering the realm of a starship-sized craft, the system converts into a reactor core with reactor stabilizers, larger capacitor banks, and nano-inhibitor modules. The greater the demands placed upon the system, the more redundant said system becomes to ensure its stability. It should be noted that given the special circumstances surrounding the development of this power system, and despite its mass-production scale, the GDE-01 system has a lot of red tape surrounding its sale on the open market.

Essentially, integration within third party equipment will require a team from Guardian Defense Engineering to commission the system properly. Upon successful commissioning, the system is designed to prevent removal and reverse engineering. Attempts to bypass said safeguards in violation of GDI’s ‘Terms and Conditions’ policy would result in a very likely chance the system itself would be irreparably compromised - rendering the system worthless, if not dangerous to use.
