Gathering of Minds

It had been sometime since the hooded man had set foot on the Sith capital. Donning a dark hooded robe, Vilox Pazela had the cowl raised over his thick, grey spiked up hair as he walked the streets of Kaas City. His arrival on Dromund Kaas had gone unnoticed for the most part. Traffic for Sigma-class transports were not uncommon along the Kamat Krote and those passing through the Dromund Kaas system were cleared by traffic control, utilizing codes in which he was familiar with. After all, he and the former members of the Obscurity had utilized them for over a decade.

The Sigma had been left behind in the docking bay he had landed in and then he was off. Walking the streets of the city was nostalgic. The last time he had navigated their darkened streets and pale features of it's citizens was during the waning day of Tyrin Ardik's fall from grace. They called Mikhail Shorn was walking entity these days, the dreaded throne breaker, the one who toppled an Emperor at the height of his power. Vilox Pazela knew otherwise. What was the source of power for Shorn was a real entity known as the Soulsaber. The Dark Jedi didn't pretend to know if Shorn still had the ancient relic in his arsenal, but if the rumors were true, then it was possible that he still did; and that made him one of, if not the most dangerous men in the galaxy. But remove the Soulsaber from his grip and he is just your average plain old Sith. Dangerous, but not overpowered.

But his thoughts could not be on Mikhail Shorn nor Tyrin Ardik. They were in the past and he presumed that he would never bump into either of them again. If he did, then he would kill them both. Shorn pushed back his own schemes by several years and Ardik just the same. He hated them both and when a man like Vilox Pazela hated someone, they would pay their dues. Time had a way of seeing that. Perhaps he was wrong about his earlier presumptions. Rain pattered along the steps as he climbed his way up to the Imperial Citadel or Palace, if you like. When he came to a stop at it's summit, he lowered his head just as two guards came forward. "Sir, what are you doing here?"
Lifting his gaze back to theirs, his lifted his hands to the cowl and lowered his hood. He spoke as he did so, "I am Darth Vazela and I am here to meet with the Emperor."
"Darth... Vazela?" They looked between each other, visibly shocked. He turned back to the one time Sith Lord and said, "We will have to escort you... my Lord."
"So be it."

Together, they headed into the old building and navigated it's hallways, Dark Jedi flanked either side by the two guards. They came to a stop outside the throne room and that was when he released his meditation and allowed, for the first time in a long time, for his aura to be sensed. The guard to his left entered the throne room, lowered himself onto one knee and said to the Dark Lord of the Sith, "My Lord... Darth Vazela is here to see you."

The journey into the depths of the Imperial citadel was a haunting one, and a noisy one at that. All over there was a literal army and a half of engineers and architects working tirelessly to reformat the Imperial citadel to the designs of the new Sith Emperor. The further they delved into those depths the less sound there was, and less signs of continued construction as everything up to a certain point had been completely redone. Instead of electronic lights there existed torches burning with an un-natural green flame that cast ghastly shadows across the hallways and chambers they bypassed. At the entrance to the throne room existed a massive set of black iron doors the height and width of more than the combined size of a group of people combined. At the word of an unseen, and unheard command the doors slowly began to retract back into the walls much like the electronic bulkheads on a starship, and from that opening erupted forth a blazing heat that instantly caused the guards accompanying Vilox into a sweat. Obviously not many of them were used to the sudden changes in temperature from the outer halls to the throne room, which had taken on a radically different form than what Vilox remembered.

The walls were made of the same black iron material the doors were constructed of, and the entire floor consisted of gray stone that contrasted well with the black walls and seemingly infinite ceiling concealed by smoke. Around the edges of the room was a moat of burning magma extending four to five feet from the wall, which is what gave off such an oppressive heat throughout the entire chamber, which itself had been extended to roughly sixty feet long and forty feet wide. On each side of the throne the wall extended outwards by roughly ten or so feet each adorned with a black & crimson banner of the Sith Empire, along with the Blackblade symbol faded into the center. The throne itself was, again, made out of black iron with a series of steps leading up to the actual seat. On each side of the stairs and throne itself were massive pieces of polished, reinforced bone adorned with black iron spikes built right into the sides of the throne. This created the illusion that the throne was more massive than it actual was, as well as adding a flair of the dramatic as well as inspiring awe and fear into the people of the Empire who happened to see such a sight. Upon the throne sat Emperor Kaine himself adorned in basic black trousers, a leather belt, and a pair of black iron studded boots.

His entire chest was bare as a hooded servants continued to tattoo archaic symbols across his chest and right shoulder, but stopped in his tracks at the bidding of the Emperor as the guard entered the room to inform Kaine of who had come to visit him. Rising from the throne, Kaine answered the guard with a quick order, "Bring him in, I want to see him for myself." The guard bowed deeply and rushed off to usher Vilox into the chamber to meet with the Emperor, who remained at the top of the steps leading to the throne as the tattooist rushed off with the guard until called for again. "Ah, Darth Vazela. I had wondered where you ran off to after Tyrin's dethroning, the former-Emperor Lussk missed you so, but enough prattle. Why have you come back to the Empire?"

The guard returned, the visible shock on his face brighter now that the Emperor had confirmed that, indeed, this grey old man was the same Sith Lord that had ruled over the Empire alongside Kaine Zambrano. Unlike the guard, Vilox Pazela remained calmed, relaxed and cooled. The Living Force thrived throughout his body in a practiced technique to maintain oneself in such climate conditions. Indeed, the citadel had changed much since he had walked through it's hallways. He personally liked it. Tyrin Ardik's reign was all about modernization and change. He presumed Zambrano had returned to his old routs. But perhaps there was the problem. Ardik was stagnant. Perhaps Zambrano would prove to be too set in those old Sith ways, which would only inevitably lead to one conclusion: failure. But nothing was set in stone and he had been surprised once before in the very same room he was about to enter. He could be surprised again.

Folding his hands into his opposite sleeves, he stopped at the first steps to the Emperor's throne and looked up, locking his yellow predatory eyes with his. He was not afraid of Zambrano. He never was. That was a subtle difference in the Dark Jedi that Sith Lords such as the one before him were familiar with. "Ah, Darth Vazela. I had wondered where you ran off to after Tyrin's dethroning, the former-Emperor Lussk missed you so, but enough prattle. Why have you come back to the Empire?" said Kaine, upon greeting.
In turn, Vilox Pazela nodded his head and replied, "I had no intentions of serving a man that was gifted the throne that you now sit upon, nor would I ever serve a man that fell before me. That would be... weak." Nodding his head again, like he agreed with himself, he said, "What brings me back to the Empire is you. During my... Shall we say... Disappearing act, I have been watching the Empire closely; and to see a former, for lack of better word, comrade ruling over the Sith, I come to you as an old ally."

"My proposal is simple, Lord Zambrano. Let's work together again."

The Emperor mulled this information over, turning away from Vazela to face the throne for a moment or so before he calmly slid back into it's cold, metallic embrace. A shadow fell across Kaine's face as he reclined back in the throne, the glint of his emerald eyes visible in the gloom. He sat like that for a few moments longer, various decisions and outcomes racing through his brain at a rapid pace until he finally came to a decision. "Very well, Darth Vazela. You may return to the Empire once again, for a war is on the horizon once again, and I will need your help in destroying those who could dare come to oppose us. The Republic... the Protectorate, they are all fools and will be cast to the winds as we shatter their citadels, drag them from their homes, and impale them upon spikes. But, in order to accomplish this, we Sith must be united once again! That is why I overthrew Dranok, because we would never be able to achieve what I know we can achieve with him still on the throne. I have plans... Vazela, big plans, but we must be ready to face the opposition that will amount before us. Which is why I want to appoint you a Sith Lord once again." His voice had heightened as he explained what laid ahead for them all in the future.

His voice quieted to his normal boom as he looked directly at Vazela, "You will aid me in my conquest, will you? Darth Vazela, Lord of the Sith?"

It's a strange thing, the force. He remembered the visions that he saw during his rising meditation on the Obscurity, on the same day that Tyrin Ardik had fell from his throne. He saw the same Empire that Kaine Zambrano ruled over cleansed by fire; and then he saw a New Order rising, replacing the toppled Sith as their betters. Curious then that a Sith Emperor would invite him back to the fold with open arms, claiming that a war was coming and that he, Vilox Pazela, would join him under the alias of Darth Vazela, Lord of the Sith. Strange, that a man who ruled over an Empire that had been the epitome of the dark side for so long would foresee such a war and yet perceive it so unclear. Was this the power of the dark side and those whom guided it?

What an opportunity. Darth Vazela lifted his gaze from the floor and nodded. He lowered himself onto a knee, and paid his fealty in return for Lordship. He said, "You have my allegiance... my Lord."

Kaine smirked darkly as he clasped his hands together, and rested both elbows on his knees as he lightly rested his chin on his knuckles. "Very good, Lord Vazela. Everything is proceeding as I have foreseen, and soon no one will be able to deny me my right." He chuckled harshly under his breath, but now was not the time for such things. With Vazela back into the fold, Kaine had to accelerate his plans for the undesirable races of his Empire, as well as his plans on what he will do to them after they've been enthralled. His gaze and attention returned to Vazela, who remained kneeling before the Sith Emperor, "You may rise, Lord Vazela. If you do not have any further business to discuss with me, you may return to your ship and await further instructions on your place in my Empire." He didn't mention that Kaine would also be keeping tabs on Vazela, but what he didn't know wouldn't hurt him.

"Yes, my Lord." Darth Vazela rose to his feet, his mind whirring with thoughts. You could almost hear the gears clogging together as the pretender shifted through his memories. He presumed that there had never been anyone like him in the entire history of the Empire. A man strong and powerful enough to rise to the mantle of Sith Lord only not to be one in reality. He was the pretender to the throne; and now everything was in place to move forwards.

Well, nearly everything.

"My Lord, my former flagship, the Obscurity... I would like it to be placed under my charge. Furthermore, I'd like permission to utilize it outside of the Empire borders. Since my leave of the Empire, I have been chasing down an elusive Black Sun Vigo by the name of Domino." Lifting his slender, long, white hands to his hood, the Sith Lord lifted the cowl over his head, concealing his features once more. Only his mouth could be seen underneath the piece of dark fabric. "There was an auction some time ago, hosted by the whipkid Velok. One of the items sold on the auction was the Book of Sith. I know of the book, but I have never personally read it's verses. That will change if I ever locate her."

"With the Obscurity back under my command, I can bypass any star system unnoticed; and with the resources of the Empire behind me, well... My investigation into the book will come along quicker."

[Sorry for the wait!]

Kaine laughed slightly, amused at his reasons for this request. "Domino? Ah, yes I remember her. Former Black Sun Vigo by the way, she abandoned ship after the Republic launched an invasion of Nar Shadda after negotiations went extremely sour between the Vigo and a couple of Jedi who thought they were above security customs. In the light of such a cowardly retreat, I say you have my full permission to track down this woman, and bring the book and herself back to me. We can both read the book's contents and I will see what the new leadership of the Suns wants to do with their AWOL Vigo." He readjusted himself on his throne, shifting his weight to the other side as he rested his bearded chin on the palm of his left hand, lightly tapping his chins with the gloved fingers. "Go forth Vazela, bring back what we rightfully deserve in the name of the Empire... and your Emperor." With that he officially dismissed Vazela, unless of course he had more to discuss with the Emperor.

"Very well, my Lord." Lowering his head in a bow, he turned away from the Sith Emperor towards the gates back behind him. Lifting the cowl back over his head, the elusive entity known as Vazela departed the enigmatic figure that was one Kaine Zambrano. One time comrades in arms reunited as master and servant. For the moment anyway. Turning around the corner, Vilox Pazela left the most powerful man in the galaxy, thinking that he had just successfully recruited a Sith Lord to his cause.

Only to be deceived and revealed in time. Making his way back to the Obscurity, the Dark Jedi returned back to work, his former alias back into the works and a powerful position now his to exploit, as he saw fit.
