Vera looked up at her dad and squeezed his hand, "I could check in, dad? They have to do this themselves but maybe the Jedi should show they care and check in?" She smiled but also knew there was no way in hell that he'd let her go alone. So as much as she liked the idea of it, she had to pitch a better option for it.

"Sometimes you can come with, or I ask mom? She will want to see it again!" She giggled and gave him the big puppy eyes.

Mom always made those work.

"I could even ask other Jedi too, and you said I had to learn from others, right?" She grinned a little and Erak could only smile.

"Checking in is what we're going to do, yes."

Kahlil smiled down to Vera. They weren't going to just not come back. He just wanted to make sure they were able to take care of themselves and find peace that didn't rely on the Jedi enforcing it. That wasn't true peace.

"Bringing others here would be good."

Vera nodded to her dad, "I want to bring Mom so she can see everything again. And hmmm..." that reminded her of something very important. With a Noble grin of mischief, Vera turned back to the two Galacian leaders and tried her best to seem innocent.

"I have one request as well. My dad and I want access to where my Mom stayed and see the stuff she left behind." She smiled, then looked over her shoulder at her father.

And grinned.

"Right, dad?"

Vera squinted as she turned to her dad, then drew in a breath and puffed her cheeks, ready to tell him exactly why this was the right moment to ask about their personal reasons for being here. It had Valery's stubborness all over her expression.

But before she could say anything, the Mayor decided to address Kahlil's question.

"If we are to work together, I want our people to have access to Hill people territory," he said and Erak, once more, seemed a littl hesitant.

There was definitely some history there.

"We can permit that in gradual steps, and with oversight until our people have adjusted to the new changes."

The Mayor nodded, then looked at the two Jedi, "You are free to look through what the Jedi left behind," he said but it didn't sound kind. He just wanted Vera and her father to leave.

Kahlil_Div2.png

"Then in turn the Hill People should have access to the city. Your home, everyone else home, with no limits on it." Kahlil glanced to the Mayor again, hoping to get his point across with that line alone.

"There is still a matter of respect to hold for people. You must respect that the land does not mean the same to them as it does to you. Just as they must respect the same." He glanced to Erak this time, then down to Vera. "We will check them out once Erak is home. We promised we'd stay with him, didn't we Padawan?"

The Mayor's green eyes connected with Kahlil, and in that very moment, Vera blinked. She saw something in the Force and a little spike of emotion would reach her father through their bond. It was worry, though not because of an immediate threat. Something else was going on and she didn't like it one bit.

"Of course, Master Jedi," The Mayor said before clapping his hands together. "I believe that concludes our meeting. What we discussed will be set in motion." He nodded to his guards, who moved to escort the Jedi and Erak out.

"Yeah yeah, we'll bring him back, Master Noble," Vera said with just a hint of frustration in her voice. She liked Jedi stuff, but her chaotic mind was craving fun stuff now, and finding out where Mom had been was exciting!

"But uhm, dad? The Mayor is planning something. I think he hates the Hill People for personal reasons and might try to sabotage this. Or worse, use his access to their towns for something bad."

Kahlil_Div2.png

"I know."

Kahlil glanced to Vera as they left the office, giving her a patient smile. He was well aware of the Mayors feelings. The fact that when Kahlil asked him to air his grievances and he hadn't was proof enough that it was something personal. And mixing personal feelings with ending a war would only ever get in the way of peace.

"We'll have to figure out what the reason is, if we want to truly help."

Vera nodded, "Let's bring our friend home and I can try to find out?" Visions often showed the future, but they could show the past as well. Vera, unlike most, didn't need to be in contact with something to see these glimpses - it wasn't psychometry. Her mind was simply open to the entire flow of time.

Past, present and future.

"It has been a pleasure to meet you both, and I hope to one day meet your wife and mother." Erak smiled and offered both Jedi a shake of the hand, which Vera happily accepted once they reached Hill People territory
.

"Dad? What if what we see is something that can't be helped?"

Kahlil_Div2.png

"We will be sure to bring her here. Though, she'll likely ask for the statue to be changed. Or at least think that." He chuckled, nodding his head to Erak before pausing to look down towards Vera with a raised brow. That didn't sound good.

"If we see something we can't stop, we can still be there to help after. Sometimes that's all we can do."

"Change the statue?" Erak perked a brow and turned around to look at the statue for a moment. "Why is that?" He asked, clearly without a clue. Vera just giggled now and looked up at her father. "You will get the dangerous question though, so be carefuuul." She giggled again and leaned into him a little.

The 'does my butt really look that big?' question was one to always approach carefully.

Mom could be scary.

"We will help," Vera then said. "But hopefully we can avoid trouble that costs lives." She reached for her dad's hand and stood ready to depart. "We should go and check it all out!"

Kahlil_Div2.png

"My wife's proportions are perfect. That is.. Not." Kahlil flashed a kind smile, but that's about as specific as he'd get with why the statue would need to change. He figured the elder would understand without issue.

But then he was quick to follow along after Vera. They'd done what they could for now, and he could see Valery and her coming back here soon enough to help keep the transition to peace smooth.

"Yes, yes, Little star. We'll go look at what your mother might've left behind now."

"My wife's proportions are perfect. That is.. Not."

Vera giggled, "Dad is scoring brownie points," she teased with a smug grin. Erak blinked, turned to look at the statue again, and then chuckled. "Ah, I see now. It was not our intentions to insult your wife's beauty, Master Jedi. I will see to it that the statue is adjusted accordingly before her arrival." He bowed his head and made sure to remember it.

"Good thing we took a picture of it. So we can tease Mom!" She grinned and ran up to her father to jump up into his arms. It was meant to look cute, but really, her legs and feet were tired from walking all day. If he could carry her for even a little bit, she'd be happy already.

"The Mayor sent coordinates of her old barracks! They kept all her stuff there too. What do you think we'll find? Maybe a journal or diary?!"

Kahlil_Div2.png

"Just because I tease her doesn't mean you can, little star. She is still your mother." He chuckled, glancing down towards her before patting the top of her head. "Don't tease her too much or she'll end up tickling you." Then he laughed as he caught her. Carried her in his arms as they walked their way towards the old barracks her mother had once stayed in so long ago. "Maybe. I'm not sure when exactly this was for your mother, but if there's any kind of journal I'm sure we'll get some insight."

"But that's no fair! Why can you tease her but I can't?!" She demanded with puffed cheeks. She knew dad did it because he loved Mom so much, but she loved Mom too! It just didn't make any sense to the young Noble, and she showed that with the way her eyes narrowed at her father.

At least, until he mentioned the tickling.

"She wouldn't tickle me over teasing, would sheee?" She gasped and let out a sigh. Fine, maybe it was better to leave the teasing to dad. Of course, that didn't mean that she couldn't help her dad find teasing material, and it sure helped they found the old barracks!

Once inside, Vera squirmed herself free and began to look around, until she found something hidden away under some datapads she hoped to be a journal. But it was a book, and it had two kissing people on the cover. "Eww, what is this daddy?" She asked, unaware of the rather spicy novel she had found hidden away in her mom's stash of stuff.

It looked like it had all been left behind in a hurry.

Kahlil_Div2.png

"Oh she would."

Kahlil had no doubt about that. Though once they were in and Vera picked up a book he blinked. Then quickly reached out. The Force pulled the book from Vera's hand into his own, where he quickly tucked it away in a pocket.

"Not something you need to worry about, little star."

"Hey! I found it first!" She squinted at her dad but she noticed that look where he wouldn't budge, and just let out a sigh. "Fine, but the next one is mine!" She giggled and sprinted over to the bed, ducked low and launched herself right underneath it. A whole pile of books fell out, but some datapads as well - reports about the battle of Gala she used to hide her collection.

Valery had been stuck here for months, so just one book wouldn't have been enough.

"I didn't know Mommy likes to read so much. Is that why Aurra also likes to read?" She asked with an innocent smile for her father. But as Vera got up and shifted around one datapad, there was the sudden sound of a mechanicl lock opening up.

A wall panel shifted away, and a large walk-in closet was revealed. There were clothes, personal items and even a holocron set out on a small table.

"Woah... is this stuff to tease mom with?"

Kahlil_Div2.png

"No, no. If there's any books I think you can have I'll give you."

Kahlil wasn't moving on that front. He cleared his throat before glancing to the closet. There were going to be plenty of things for Kahlil and Valery to talk about when they got back home. He stepped in, only briefly looking around to make sure there wasn't anything too important left out before reaching for the holocron. That, of all things, was probably the most important thing here.

"Possibly, but this.." He glanced it over before tossing it to Vera.

"This I think you should have."

"Really?!" Vera seemed very excited about getting the holocron, and held it very carefully in both her hands. There was no way she'd drop it or mess this up. Dad trusted her with something special Mom made a long time ago, and she would respect that very much.

But there was plenty for him to find too. Old clothing was probably not very interesting, but there were pictures too.

A young Valery - a Jedi Knight, and early pictures of her being a Master. She looked troubled in some, but in a way only people close to her would be able to tell. But she looked strong as well, and far more intense than she usually looked now.

Only when family was threatened, she'd be like that now.

"Mommy was pretty," Vera giggled. "Still is but the black outfit makes her look scary in these pictures."

Kahlil_Div2.png

"Your mother came from a much different time. It is her story to tell, though, not mine." Just as he'd tell her and the others about his own past, when they were older. He had no doubt Vera likely already knew a bit on what both her parent's pasts had been like with her visions. Still, he took up the pictures to tuck away. New Cov had been the only place she seemed to think her old memories would've been, and with how ruined the temple had become he knew how much she'd appreciate something like this.

"We should head back home. I think mom and Aris have something to show us, if what I'm feeling is right."
