Nal Hutta - The Emerald Palace
On a planet otherwise covered in numerous bogs, a large and extravagant structure rose from the mire, dominating the landscape. The Hestilic Palace, also known as the Emerald Palace, was home to one Kossak the Hutt. The nickname came not from the palace itself, but from the sickly green hue cast across it by the surrounding marshes and stagnant waters.
At the heart of the complex stood a massive central structure crowned by a domed roof of dull metal. Four slender towers surrounding it at equal distance, connected to the main building by corridors wide enough for even a Hutt to slide through comfortably. Beneath the palace stretched an intricate network of tunnels descending deep into the planet's sodden crust, linking the estate to hidden storehouses, private docks, and, most notably, Kossak's subterranean vault and gallery.
It was here that Kossak display his most prized possessions and trophies. The chamber was lined with the skulls of exotic beasts gathered from distant worlds, some large enough to dwarf a human. Near the center rested a weathered podracer beside an enormous championship trophy, the name of its former pilot engraved neatly into the base. Whatever fame the raced had once earned now belonged to Kossak, its sponsor and eventual owner.
The rest of the collection was no less disturbing. Priceless works of art stood beside instruments of war and relics of forgotten cultures: a lightsaber mounted within a glass case, two women frozen in carbonite beneath plagues reading The Jedi and The Witch, a small pyramid-shaped artifact of unknown origin, shaped like a sphere of dark, fogged crystal bound within gilded metal, and finally a full suit of beskar armor displayed upright in the shadows. One could only hope the Mandalorian who once wore it was no longer inside.
It came as no surprise that the palace was the most heavily defended of all the estates beloning to the Hestilic Kajidic. Fortunately, Kossak the Hutt himself was absent, and with him his feared personal guard. Even so, the Emerald Palace remained under constant watch. An extensive network of sensors, scanners, and security systems was coordinated from one of the four towers, while armed patrols moved throughout the estate grounds. The guards were a brutal mixture of Weequay, Nikto and Gamorrean, each more than capable of dealing with intruders foolish enough to test the palace's defenses.
Well, excepting maybe a Jedi Master… But what were the odds one of those would come along?
