It is very early in the morning, over here in the United Kingdom, so I will wish everyone a good morning.
Just a half-hour ago (at the time of writing this) I was in a Discord channel (for brainstorming ideas) where I asked some questions about forming a new Imperial political force in the High Republic. We can call it a political party, or a bloc of star systems who agree with the mandate / ideas put forward. The idea isn't concrete but it is something that I have been thinking about quite sometime. Diversifying the political scene in the High Republic makes for good roleplay and stories. Besides, I know from first-hand experience that there are an array of Imperial esque characters looking for somewhere to write. So let me put the discussion on the table.
For some reference this type of roleplay has some context in Star Wars legends canon. In particular I know from the novel ' A New Rebellion ' (released sometime in the 1990s) had chapters showing that there were former Imperials from the Galactic Empire who represented star systems in the New Republic and how those star systems were in some type of political alliance against pro-Republic ideas or politics. Is there any interest of playing or being apart of such a movement?
Of course reforming the High Republic into a new Galactic Empire is off the table. I imagine the ideas, politics, mandates that this group (and characters) would be extremely unpopular in the High Republic. In fact I imagine that the characters in play wouldn't even be elected or in a place of political power at the time of this movements formation. But having that type of carrot, to chase election onto the senate, would be really fun to play out.
I have some infrastructure already in place on two characters that I am writing so the foundation is there. But I don't want to do these ideas with NPCs. I want to write with actual characters.
Anyway, a short Discord conversation about this concept was ok. But short and can get buried by other conversations. So I thought I'd move it onto the board and flesh out the idea. See if there was any interest.
