[*]Events:
  • Formation of the Sith Ascendancy
The One Sith Empire fragmented in 847 ABY / 7747 ATE before finally collapsing during the Omega War in 849 ABY / 7749 ATE. This sent the many composite parts of the One Sith scattering to the far corners of the galaxy, some of which attempted to establish their own successor states, such as the Iron Empire, while many others were absorbed by other Imperialist states like the First Order. Those disorganized and dispersed elements that remained eventually found their way back to the Tingel Arm, the birthplace of the Sith Order. United by the charismatic and strong-willed leadership of Darth Carnifex, they formed a confederation known as the Sith Ascendancy. This union was officiated into existence somewhere beyond the borders of known space, though none of those in attendance would remain there for very long.

[*]Storming of Bastion
  • All members of the Sith Ascendancy agreed that in order to survive against the Jedi and others who would seek their destruction, they would require an unassailable redoubt where they could persist indefinitely. No other world matched that description that Bastion, once known as Sartinaynian, a fortress world without peer. However, neglect at the hands of the Mandalorian Crusaders had enabled the fledgling Sith Armada to seize the planet in one swift strike, smashing the Crusaders with superior firepower and tactics. With a strong base now secured, the Ascendancy began to look beyond.

[*]Dubrillion Submits
  • As Bastion fell, the surviving Mandalorian Crusaders dispersed into the starways to escape the slaughter. A large contingent of Crusaders fell back to the oceanic world of Dubrillion to prepare for a stand against the Sith. When the Sith did enter the system, they faced fierce resistance from the Crusaders for every parsec taken. The orbit about Dubrillion was filled with the corpses of heroes and cowards alike, entire warships slicing through the atmosphere to smashed into the unforgiving water below. When the last Mandalorian holdout was finally uprooted and destroyed the surviving native leaders of Dubrillion submitted to the Warmaster, declaring their undying fidelity to the Sith in return for mercy. Their fidelity was accepted, but those who collaborated with the Mandalorians were nonetheless executed.

[*]Beginning of the Dominion War
  • Elsewhere in the Tingel Arm, war brewed. Sith Purebloods from the hidden gem of Athiss simultaneously rose alongside the Sith Ascendancy, carving out a large swath of territory in the Sith Worlds and the Gordian Reach. Led by a council of Sith Lords, they fought an intense struggle against their neighboring powers, the Dominion and the Silver Jedi Order. The Dominion had capitalized on the instability in the region since the fall of the Old Empire, swiftly expanding along the Hydian Way to capture many strategic worlds, including the cultural homeworld of the Mandalorians; Mandalore. Meanwhile, the Silver Jedi had maintained strict vigilance over many worlds the Sith considered to be sacred, including the wasted former throneworld of Dromund Kaas. Both posed a threat the the burgeoning Sith nations, but it would prove to be the Dominion who preemptively struct first.

[*]Events:
  • Acquisition of Jaemus Shipyards
Seeking greater industrial means of production, the envoys of the Sith Ascendancy approach the shipwrights of Jaemus Shipyards for permission to use the dockyards to produce new Sith warships. Though utterly unwilling to collaborate with the Sith, all-out war is avoided when the Premier of Jaemus was assassinated by the Sith Assassins and replaced with a Premier more cordial towards the Ascendancy. Now with a dedicated shipyard in their clutches, the Sith Armada greatly increases in size and destructive capabilities.

[*]Mygeeto Campaign
  • In order to secure the Ascendancy's tenuous hold in the region, more systems had to be subjugated to further buffer the capital of Bastion. Sith tacticians created a strategy to accomplish just that, marking Dantooine, Muunilinst, and Mygeeto as prime candidates for invasion. The Ascendancy's active military was divided into three war groups to strike at each target simultaneously. Warmaster Carnifex himself would lead the charge at Mygeeto, encountering a large flotilla of allied Mandalorian and Muun vessels above the crystalline world. The enemy fleet was smashed by bold charging and outflanking maneuvers, with the land defenses providing little opposition to the superiorly equipped Imperial Legion.

[*]Capitulation of Muunilinst
  • While the Warmaster's fleet struck at Mygeeto, another smaller force was dispatched to bring Muunilinst to heel. Not with violence, but with words. The Sith delegation that arrived on Muunilinst promising that the Muun Banking Clan would retain their preminance by serving as the official banking arm of the Sith Ascendancy, providing the Sith nation with a unfathomable amount of financial support to fund future campaigns. Though initially skeptical and on the verge of rejecting the Sith's proposal, the Muuns quickly acquiesced when they were shown a live holofeed of the Warmaster's victory on Mygeeto.

[*]Battle of Dantooine
  • Whereas Mygeeto was prized for its valuable mineral deposits and Muunilinst its financial sector, Dantooine was envisioned as the future breadbasket of the Ascendancy. Covered in seemingly endless grasslands and flat plains, the planet had suffered greatly at the hands of the Primeval Cultists in the past few years. This enfeeblement allowed the Sith to easily overcome whatever resistance they faced, destroying the abandoned Jedi Temple in the process.

[*]Mandalorian Uprising
  • Though the Ascendancy was busy directing multiple military expeditions, it was not idle in the affairs of foreign interest. Mandalorian space was currently under occupation by the Dominion, a state of affairs that did not sit well with many prominent Mandalorians in the galaxy. Knowing that one day the Ascendancy would face the Dominion in battle, Warmaster Carnifex dispatched several of his servants to arm and aid the reigning Mand'alor, Vilaz Munin, in casting off the Dominion yoke from Mandalore. By arming Mandalorian rebels in the region the Ascendancy had succeeded in funding an insurrection against the Dominion, forcing them out of the sector entirely.

[*]Battle of Dromund Kaas
  • Tensions flared between the Resurgent Empire and the Silver Jedi shortly after the Mandalorian Rebellion against the Dominion, culminating in an all-out battle between the two forces at Dromund Kaas. Though ideologically different from their counterparts from Athiss, the Ascendancy sent several strike forces to supplement the Resurgent Empire in their efforts. In the end the Sith would prevail, driving the Silver Jedi out of the Stygian Caldera and giving the Sith a chance to rebuild the shattered world.

[*]Events:
  • Battle of Serenno
Elated from their victory over the Silver Jedi at Dromund Kaas, the Resurgent Empire turned their weapons against their other hostile neighbor, the Dominion. A joint Ascendant-Resurgent war fleet materialized over the noble world of Serenno, engaging the Dominion Second Sector Army in high orbit. Serenno itself was protected by a powerful planetary shield, which stymied the Sith's attempts to disembark ground forces on the planet's surface. Concentrated bombardment and sheer brute force eventually collapsed sections of the shield, allowing Sith troopers to be deployed all along Serenno's population centers. This pressure eventually proved too strenuous for the Dominion to handle, and they withdrew with due haste.

[*]Battle of Telos IV
  • Multiple star systems broke away from the Dominion's control as they retreated along the Hydian Way, some of which began to fly the flag of the Resurgent Empire in their wake. The Dominion retreat came to a grinding halt at Telos IV, where they arrayed their forces to make a stand to reverse their misfortune. The ensuing battle was fierce, casualties mounting on both sides as the sky above Telos IV became littered with scorched hulks and frigid corpses. Though the Dominion was again beaten back, they managed to incur enough losses for the Resurgent Empire which brought an end to their backpedaling withdraw.

[*]Collapse of the Resurgent Empire
  • Though massively successful on nearly every front, rifts within the Resurgent Empire inevitably became so severe that turmoil whipped through the Empire like wildfire. Several Dark Councilors were assassinated or accounted as missing, causing the collapse of the Empire's central government and allowing for multiple fiefdoms to arise from the ashes. Many who survived the chaotic disintegration fled to the Sith Ascendancy, creating an opportunity for the Ascendancy to claim the Resurgent's fallen mantle.

[*]Transformation into an Empire
  • As the Resurgent Empire fell, the Sith Ascendancy rose. Seizing the opportunity, Warmaster Carnifex gathered the strongest leaders of both the Ascendancy and what remained of the Resurgent Empire on Bastion. There they proclaimed him the one true Dark Lord of the Sith, transforming the Sith Ascendancy into the Tenth Sith Empire; symbolically absorbing the Resurgent Empire into this new iteration. To fully cement this new era of camaraderie, the Dark Lord established the Brotherhood of the Sith; a new Sith Order built upon the foundations of the Rule of Order, where the Sith would work together for a common goal rather than tear themselves apart in petty power plays.

[*]Expansion in the West
  • The newly formed Sith Empire was not idle after its formation, several war groups were dispatched into surrounding territories to claim them for the Empire. Entralla submitted to Imperial authority after several negotiations, the Velcar Free Commerce Zone absorbed into the new Empire. Valc VII, forgotten and neglected, was obtained by the Sith and rebuilt as a fortress world protecting the Empire's new west border. Operation: Warlord's Dominion was launched to simultaneously acquire the planets of Kalee and Yaga Minor. Carnifex personally led the assault to invade and conquer Kalee, destroying many Kaleesh tribes that stood against his advance while sparing those that bent the knee. An Imperial taskforce battled Mandalorian Crusaders at Yaga Minor, eventually beating them and claiming the planet's shipyards for the Empire.

[*]Expansion in the East
  • With the west border secure, the Empire now looked towards the diminishing territories of the Dominion. Though the bulk of the Dominion's forces had retreated further back along the Hydian Way, there still remained pockets of holdouts who hoped to reassert Dominion authority in the region. Operation: Empire's Future was enacted to destroy these holdouts and pave the way for the Empire's expansion on all fronts, starting with a simultaneous attack at Ord Trasi and Kol Huro. Battlegroup Spear would surge ahead to attack the Dominion warlords still in control of the Kol Huro system, while Battlegroup Dagger would secure the shipyards of Ord Trasi. Both battlegroups performed well in their tasks, and within several days both systems fell under Sith control. The Empire then moved to strengthen the territory around both new acquisitions, accepting the capitulation of Bimmiel, Lorrd, and Argazda.

[*]Events:
  • Massacre of Gravlex Med
After consolidating gains in the East and West, the Sith Empire looked to its Northern border. Diplomats were dispatched to the world of Gravlex Med to negotiate Imperial suzerainty in the system, but to the shock of all officials the diplomats were imprisoned and butchered by the Anx. Infuriated at this insult against the Empire's pride, Carnifex vowed to raze Gravlex Med to the ground and decimate its populace. He led the attack personally, driving the Anx underground and then burying them alive with a week-long orbital bombardment that flattened whole mountain ranges. Afterwards, the Empire occupied the planet and pushed on North until they reached the Veragi Trade Route; which would serve as the Empire's furthest extent North for a good while.

[*]Conquest of Serenno
  • When the Dominion was driven from Serenno, the Houses that had allied with them and those that had stood against them were now free to fight for supremacy of the planet. The Empire, sensing opportunity, stepped in to directly intervene in the planet's affairs. Allying with those who stood against the Dominion, the Sith Empire waged a brutal campaign to eradicate all rival houses and elevate those they supported as the new leadership; installing a loyal queen to govern the world in their stead.

[*]End of the Dominion War
  • Now at the Dominion's doorstep, the Sith Empire prepared for the final confrontation. Winning striking victories at Listehol and Mirial, the Sith Empire had pushed the Dominion all the way back to Cadomai Prime and Krayiss II, the gateways to a direct strike on the Dominion capital of Ession. Unrest in the Corporate Sector shattered Dominion hold on the worlds north of Krayiss II, enabling the Empire to deliver a fatal blow at the survivors that had begun to regroup around the Sith world. The battle was fierce, but in the end the Empire proved victorious by routing the Dominion forces; chasing them down and slaughtering them piecemeal as they scattered thus ending the Dominion War. Those that survived would live with a bounty on their heads for the rest of their days.

[*]Foothold in the Stygian Caldera
  • With the Dominion gone, the Empire moved to fill the vacuum left by their destruction. They occupied and garrisoned Telos IV, Listehol, Mirial, and Krayiss II. The acquisition of Krayiss II was particularly celebrated as it served as the first step towards total reclamation of the Holy Sith Worlds, part of which had been retaken by the Silver Jedi Order. Krayiss II became a staging ground, a fortress world from which the Empire could launch campaign after campaign into the surrounding systems. Unfettered by contenders and pretenders to the Imperial Throne, the Sith Empire could now exert its influence on dozens of neutral systems.

[*]Events:
  • Conquest of Ord Radama
After the stunning defeat at Krayiss II, the surviving Dominion officers fled in all directions. Those with the most clout and military acumen called for a reorganization over the world of Ord Radama, a planet that had been heavily contested between the Dominion and the Resurgent Empire. Intending to gather their strength and strike out again against the Sith, this gathering proved to be a major threat against the Sith Empire's power. Unwillingly to even entertain the idea of allowing the Dominion to resuscitate, Carnifex marshalled a strike force to attack Ord Radama and eradicate the Dominion Remnant once and for all. Most of the fighting took place in and around the capital city of Livien Magnus, ravaging the city and displacing most of its population by the end of the fighting. But once the fighting had concluded, the Sith Empire was the clear victor. Most, if not all, of the assembled Dominion forces had been destroyed, and any potential for the Dominion to ever regain power in the region for permanently ended. Settling on Ord Radama, the Empire rebuilt Livien Magnus as Livien Malgus, dedicating the renewed capital to the ancient Sith Lord Darth Malgus.

[*]Induction of Tiss'Sharl
  • Imperial power continued to spread along the Hydian Way, attracting opportunistic and pragmatic entities to pledge themselves to this new growing Empire. One such entity was the Tiss'sharl League, the governing body of the Tiss'shar. A race of cunning and business savvy theropods, the Tiss'shar saw little interest in resisting the Empire's expansion and dispatched envoys to treat with the encroaching tide to request an audience. Negotiations were swift and simple, the Tiss'shar wasting no time and mincing no words in their profession of obedience to the Dark Lord. As the treaty was being ratified by all standing members of the Tiss'sharl League, the Dark Lord and his closest companions traveled to the jungle world to witness first hand their latest conquest. An assassination attempt aimed at the Dark Lord ended in failure, and those accountable were summarily executed after a thorough purging of the League's membership. Regardless, the Tiss'shar were afforded a place of pride and prestige among the Empire's subjects.

[*]Mando'ade Collapses
  • In the time since the Mandalorians had driven the Dominion from Mandalore, complacency began to infect their ranks. The enemy had been defeated, the holy world of Mandalore secured and strengthened against all outward threats. But what no one could expect was a threat emerging from within the Mandalorian Clans. Several conspirators, their names stricken from most historical records, detonated a series of high grade powerful explosives deep within the crust of Mandalore. The chain reaction caused most, if not all, of the volcanic summits on Mandalore to erupt simultaneously. Ash blanketed the atmosphere as molten rock and liquid hot magma upended entire cities and townships. Millions perished in the resulting extinction-level event, the worst catastrophe the Mandalorian people had experienced since the Mandalorian Excision. Mand'alor Vilaz's government was completely blindsided and shortly descended into factionalism after the Mandalorian Cataclysm, and Vilaz himself became known as Mand'alor the Unsung by his sympathizers and supporters. Those who were arrayed against his leadership unceremoniously levied the epithet of Mand'alor the Craven upon him.

[*]War Against The Jedi
  • Proximity with the Silver Jedi was inevitably bound to escalate into conflict, the Jedi had occupied many of the Sith's holy worlds following the collapse of the Eighth Sith Empire in 836 ABY. This was seen as a grave affront to the Sith, an inexcusable injury to the pride and traditions of the Sith. While the Sith Empire conducted border raids to gauge the Jedi's strengths and weaknesses, their allies in the First Order and Galactic Empire were content to wage unmitigated wars on their own. The First Order launched a daring attack on the Jedi world of Ossus, supplemented by several legions of Sith Warriors. It was to be the first hammer blow delivered to the Silver Jedi, but not the last. The Galactic Empire attacked the Jedi at Charros IV and Felucia, driving a wedge between the Jedi's territories in the Tingel Arm and their Core-ward holdings. This maneuver effectively cut the Silver Jedi in two, the Imperial forces moving to widen the gap as they isolated Jedi worlds and put them to the torch. Beset and defeated on all sides, there was little the Silver Jedi could do except try to break free from the noose being strung around their neck.

[*]Battle of Mirial
  • Though the Sith Empire had not yet fully engaged the Silver Jedi, it was not idle. Levies all over the Empire were being raised and maneuvered into position on the Sith-Jedi border. Surprisingly, it would be the Jedi who would strike the first blow against the Empire. Later uncovered as Operation Silversable, the attack on Mirial would mainly be remembered as the Silver's Shame by Imperial historians and Mirialan survivors alike. Before the rise of the Empire, Mirial had been subjected to unspeakable horrors by Primeval cultists and other deplorable entities as it floundered defenseless after the Old Empire collapsed. The walking dead roamed much of the planet's landmass, with most of the Mirialans being confined to walled cities like the capital. When the Empire came into possession of the world following the Dominion's fall, they made restoring the planet to functionality one of their top priorities; as the planet was situated on the strategic Listehol Run which ran through territories of the Empire and the Jedi. It was during this reconstruction that the Silver Jedi launched their attack, leaking misinformation about their target to the Empire by making it appear like they were going to attack the Kol Huro system. Fortunately, the Dark Lord had divined portions of the truth through his myriad of mystics and prophets and had traveled to Mirial himself to serve as the first line of defense. When the attack came, Mirial was quickly further ravaged in the ensuing fight. The Jedi were relentless in their aggression and what remained of the walled cities of Mirial were left broken and scorched, ultimately uninhabitable as the tide of dead began to scale the shattered ramparts. The Dark Lord ordered an evacuation of the Mirialans once the Silver Jedi had been beaten and dispatched, with Lord Tai Fa designing a massive orbital city to eventually house the displaced population. The Silver Jedi's aggression came as a shock to everyone except the Imperial Powers, who had always espoused that the Jedi had never held themselves up to their own beliefs. Entire systems, now despondent in their faith with the Jedi, flocked to the banners of the Sith Empire.

[*]The Mandalorian Empire

[*]Events:
  • Flight of the Silver Jedi:
The Silver Jedi's hold on the Tingel Arm was quickly revealing itself to be tenuous at best, nonexistent at worst, as the Imperial Powers continued to carve their territory to pieces. Seeing no other alternative, the Grandmaster of the Silver Jedi convened a council of the Order's Jedi Masters and most decorated military officers. He proposed that the Silver Jedi abandon their struggle in the Tingel Arm and fall back to their redoubt at Kashyyyk, which had managed to resist any Imperial incursion into the system, and fortify themselves. Some agreed with this idea, declaring it wisdom. Others vehemently opposed the measure, calling the Grandmaster a craven for abandoning countless systems to the villainy of the Sith. The division between these two camps was too great, and ultimately those who opposed the measure broke away from the Silver Jedi and remained behind while those who supported the Grandmaster left Voss to make their pilgrimage. Those who disagreed with both just simply left the Order and journeyed elsewhere in the galaxy.

[*]Conquest of the Gordian Reach:
  • With the threat of the Silver Jedi all but neutralized, the Sith Empire was given free reign to expand where and how it wanted. From Ord Radama the fleets of the Dark Lord spread out down through and around the Radama Void into a region of space known as the Gordian Reach. One of the largest sectors in the Outer Rim, the Gordian Reach was once under the control of the Mandalorian Clans following the collapse of the Old Empire. Since then the rule of law, even Mandalorian law, had subsided and given way to anarchy and piracy. The Empire delivered security and stability to those systems that welcomed them, and snuffed out the fires of dissidence in the rest. Aided by the advisor Lord Tai Fa, the Dark Lord was able to make contact and reach an accord with the native Thirriken. In exchange for their service and dedication to the Empire, they would be allowed to rule all of the Gordian Reach as their own semi-autonomous fiefdom under the rule of the Pale Emperor.

[*]Reclamation of Korriban and Ziost:
  • As Jedi resistance around the Stygian Caldera crumbled, the way was wrenched open for the Sith to descend on the ancient burial world of Korriban. As they approached the system, they were accosted by a splinter faction of the Resurgent Empire under the control of a Magister known only as Wrath. Together he and another despot, the Magster of Ziost, formed a Duumvirate that claimed to assert authority over the Holy Sith Worlds in bold defiance of the Dark Lord's own claims. The Empire fell upon them with violence and fury, tearing the Magister out from his hole in the Valley of the Dark Lord and executing those who did not submit in the aftermath. The Magister, for his transgressions, was bound and strapped to an ancient obelisk in the wastes of Korriban, his flesh gradually devoured by the scavengers that occupied them. With the homeworld of the Red Sith now secure, the Dark Lord pointed his armies north to Ziost. There he met a different sort of resistance, one of the walking dead. In his desperation, the Magister of Ziost dabbled in dark ancient rituals that he had no right to practice. His sacrilege brought about his own destruction as Dark Side wraiths enveloped the land, killing all who yet lived in the capital and raising their corpses as wretched wights. Ziost was put to the torch to burn away the Magister's folly, a task that the Empire carried out with solemn resignation. Fortunately, the planet would eventually recover.

[*]Battle of Malachor:
  • From Ziost the armies of the Dark Lord swept East, emerging from the Stygian Caldera to be set upon the rebellious Malachor system. Since the fall of the Old Empire the system had allowed heretical ideals to proliferate through its living inhabitants, inflamed by the Silver Jedi's manipulation. The Magistrates of Malachor, having grown haughty in the years since the rule of the Sith, refuted the Dark Lord's terms outright. Their dismissal was met with violence, and within a week's time the system burned brightly like a cosmic candelabra; each world wreathed in the flames of orbital bombardment. Those that were appointed to replace the doomed Magistrates never questioned the rule of the Sith ever again.

[*]Establishment of the Mandalorian Empire:
  • Though much of the Dark Lord's efforts were spent on pushing the borders of his Empire further South and East, it was not his sole obsession. In secret, the Dark Lord traveled to the doomed world of Castameer in the Unknown Regions. Out on the irradiated tundra he recovered the body of Ra Vizsla, preserved in near perfect condition beneath the compact snow. Placing the corpse into stasis, he then traveled to the dark world of Dathomir. There the energies of the Netherworld of the Force were strong, unnaturally so. Years ago the cosmic entity known as Akala sundered the boundaries between the realm of the Living Force and the realm of the Cosmic Force, causing energies to bleed over into each dimension. Dathomir served as the site of one of these wounds, bound up in a physical monolith known as the Warlock Gate. Few knew how to tap into its powers, but the Dark Lord had tasted the powers of the Nether once before and knew how to manipulate them. Through the Warlock Gate he entered the Netherworld of the Force, a foreign intruder in a realm reserved for those who no longer lived. He plucked the consciousness of Ra Vizsla out from that ethereal realm and placed it inside a shard of obsidian inscribed with ancient Sith Runes, protecting it for the journey back. Once freed of the Netherworld, the Dark Lord took both spirit and body to Khar Delba and reunited them. In secret he constructed mental wards inside of Ra Vizsla's mind, instilling in him a fierce and unmitigatable desire to re-unite the Mandalorian Clans under his iron rule. The Dark Lord concealed all evidence of what he had done to Ra Vizsla, and had his comatose form transported to Concord Dawn. When Vizsla awoke, he was unaware of his return from the land of the dead, yet was consumed by a voracious hunger. He called forth the banners of the clans that would heed him and bound them all to his will through cunning and martial force, forging an Empire of Mandalorians with himself as dictator.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Dozens of scribes and historians accompanied the Sith-Imperial military as it expanded the territory and influence of the Sith Empire from its meager beginnings as a loose coalition of Sith warlords into the unstoppable juggernaut that it is today. From their positions of primacy in war camps, command ships, and meetings between the leaders of the early Empire they were able to monitor and transcribe entire campaigns and the happenstances that shaped the Sith Empire. Omitting no details, these scribes were unrivaled in their meticulous attention to detail and recording the facts as they played out before them.

By the start of the Great Galactic War, the historians possessed enough information to codify into a comprehensive historical text that could be reviewed by the Empire's Office of Imperial Truth and subjected to varying degrees of redaction, manipulation of facts, and omission of details. The finished product become one of the strongest pieces of propaganda in the Imperial Government's arsenal, as it was widely distributed and consumed by a large percentage of the Empire's literate citizenry.

Though widely acclaimed by the Empire's adult population, the volume found true power as it was introduced into the education curriculums of hundreds of star systems. Initially translated into several languages, these editions gradually disappeared as Imperial Basic began to replace local languages and dialects. The youths fostered on the Empire's revised history were led to believe that the Empire that ruled over them was benevolent and just, a powerful force of stabilizing order that combated the forces of anarchy and chaos every day. Quoting certain passages from the tome was seen as an act of pride and patriotism, a further espousing of the nationalist propaganda filling their minds each and every day.
