GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Power Name: Force Pulse
  • Alignment: Neutral
  • Origin: A meditative skill developed by the Jedi but can be performed by any force user so long as trained
  • Description: A force pulse is a technique in which a force user pulls on the force gathering a great deal of it into their being, usually more then when attempting to use other powers. Due to the strain of the technique the user must be completely focused on gathering and containing the power they pull in so not to release it early and ruin the process. This causes them to be quite vulnerable during the process. Once the user has gathered enough power to suit their needs, or as much as they can handle they release it in an even wave around themselves. In doing so their own consciousness is carried along with the wave allowing them to experience the world around them beyond simply seeing and hearing and can cover a sizable range depending on how much power they managed to pull in before releasing it. Once the pulse reaches its maximum range the users consciousnesses should return to their body along with a wealth of information of what they experienced.
Strengths
  • Allows users to perform in depth scans of their environment helping in finding of traps, people or even just used to get their bearings on the world around them.
  • Being a force power it can be hard to hide from someone using this power as the wave of energy is akin to a sonar pulse carrying information back to the user when the wave returns to them.
Weaknesses
  • Power can be overwhelming when used, since the user receives a massive flood of information all at once when their mind returns to them. Even on lower scales the sudden barrage of knowledge can lead to headaches and nausea and if too much power is used to set an even wider range the user can go full comatose for a time while they try to process. Madness can develop as well at the most extreme examples of overuse
  • The user is completely helpless while performing the meditation required to use the power, they must focus entirely on the build up and even release of the force to ensure an even pulse. Disruption can cause the power to simple fade or at worst be misdirected causing the pulse to be a potentially dangerous directional wave.
  • The users mind is blended with the pulse upon release and while this normally has no issues any sort of dark power or artifact that absorbs force energy can cause parts of the users own mind to be pulled in along with their own wave. In such cases their could be memory loss or even more dramatic effects such as personality change

Greetings!

It's wonderful to see new writers using the Codex [Joy! So happy!], but, I wanted to catch you before you spent too much time on this.

There's no template in Lore for Force Powers because we actually don't accept submissions for them. There are tons of options to choose from on the Wookie and in writing you're welcome to "describe" what the character is doing to suit the needs that are listed in this submission anyway. You don't always need to have an exact name for it, nor, does it need to be an exact replica of what you see on the Wookie as the Force has infinite applications. With that in mind it can all be interpreted and expressed in many different ways.

This means that going forward in your writing you can certainly use something like this. We just don't allow actual "submissions" for Force Powers to Codex.

When it comes to filling out templates, you're welcome to add fields, but, you cannot remove or change any. If you're ever unsure and would like to ask a question before starting the submission I would encourage you to use the Q & A Thread to your hearts content. There is also a "Codex Discussion" Channel on Discord where everyone is happy to help. There are also the Codex Standardized Rules here for review as well.

You did a good job on this, but, I'll have to archive it for the reasons above. If you need anything or have any further questions please feel free to use the methods mentioned or send a PM through the board.

Thank you!
