For some reason I never truly got off the ground here...

Hello,

So I have had this character a long time. I used to roleplay at some other places but they are sadly very slow or non existant anymore. I've joined Chaos (or do we call it SW rp?) and restarted a few different times but I just can't seem to make it work here.

Some of you came from other boards. Others might just have tips.

I'm open to advice...

Just find a way to make it work. Its hard sometimes to stick with your character. Just enjoy your character and if it don't work, make a character that you can enjoy. Sorry if this isn't the best advice but I think you'll make it work.

Not sure if you've tried jumping into open threads, but that is how I got the attention of the people I write with now.

This is the first forum RP experience for me, so I really can't tell you what does and does not work, just that it's better to keep trying hard to grab people's attention through roleplaying than looking for group threads/requests (like most of the master/apprentice request threads out there). Or you can join a faction and participate in invasions/dominions if that's your thing. Either way, try to push people who seem to be good to write with into writing with you. But again, that doesn't always work for everyone.

Open threads are good and a new character might be the way to go. I was just wondering if there was anybody over here who had the delima of joining with an old established character and had any advice on what to do. Maybe a new character is the best way.

I appreciate your replies everyone !

I transferred over several characters from TGC, and each was brought into SWChaos a bit differently. All but one had their story continue on here, with very little references to the timeline.

Kinda like they just picked up where they left off -- but grew from the tragedy of the 400 year darkness.

Danger continued on to make her business as big as she could.

Ti'Cira is still flying around with Patches.

Cira was the one that i retconned her past marriage and children and made her past get cast away, save for Omega Pyre. From that she used the Lady Protector / Prex focus to press her story from there.

Chloe Blake simply tossed herself into public threads that dealt with exploring, found new people to interact with.

Through all of this though, what was important was finding a good writing partner who could get with you back to back.

Kira, my happy go lucky Jedi, only grew in spades after interacting with Talon and other new Jedi, utilizing the invasions as well as other major events as turning points in her life --- that's where icly Kira met Soliael Devin Talith, and their story grew from there. I am very lucky that his writer bounces back with quick posts and we have good writing chemistry.

There are several different ways to go about it, but I think definately finding someone you click with and can get into a good posting groove is a good thing.

if all else fails -- memory wipe / amnesia / and toss her into a new place where other people can get to interact with her...

and she starts fresh while having random flashbacks.

CHAOS really changes the game from other websites. There is no character approval, freedom to join or create any faction, and it balances the META by letting you ignore and include anything you want to into your stories. Whether that be tech, the EU, or even other writers. CHAOS is whatever you build it to be. So the longer you write stories here? The better of an experience it becomes. It's no like Dramaland or Admin-Onlys. Where the longer you play the more boring and hostile it becomes. Here there is always a new experience, new writers, and a new interpretation waiting for you. It's crazy cool like that.

PvP currently has zero incentive other than Map Control. (easily overlooked since you can trespass at will. Even in private threads.) However, the Corporate Game has boomed recently. I expect this is since it allows you private kingdoms and fiefdoms with the awesome ability to ignore invasions or usurpation. You can literally own a company that spans the entire galaxy, with unlimited cash on hand, and be completely worry free forever.

So yeah [member="Katarine Ryiah"]. There is a wealth of future here for you and your characters. All you have to do is jump in and build it. And I already know a bunch of people who would be happy to help you succeed.

You rock! Jump in! :D

Thank you Danger! That is very helpful.

So far what I gather is:

1. Open threads are good.
2. Make sure you are always enjoying your character
3. Maybe try something new - maybe a kid
4. Tweak your old one a bit and ignore the timeline.

This 400 year darkness... I saw more information on that somewhere but I can't for the life of me remember where.

You're not going to believe this, but. I actually have the privilege of not knowing what the heck you are talking about there. And, it's awesome. Because this website is huge like that. :D :p

KIT-KAT!

Ahem.....Anyways, if you're looking for more on the 400 year Darkness go to 'Holonet' at the top of your screen then click 'Timeline'. It'll bring you up to date in short order.
