STRENGTHS
  • Starfighter Support - Though limited, the Foerost-class is capable of maintaining and deploying two squadrons of Starfighters or Bombers. Additionally, the vessel was also designed with additional hangar capacity which allows it to maintain an additional support squadron of shuttles or unarmed transports.
  • Expanded Armaments - Considered a scaled-down version of the larger Hosnian-class Star Cruiser, the Foerost-class was designed with a focus on increased armaments and strike capabilities. This has resulted in additional weapon systems and armaments being installed throughout the vessel.
  • Heavy Armor - Ensuring that the vessel was capable of standing toe-to-toe against larger vessels, additional heavier armor and redundant defensive systems were installed. This permits the vessel to withstand prolonged engagements even against Cruisers and Light Destroyers.
WEAKNESSES
  • Blindspot - The trio of scythe-like superstructures included in the design has resulted in an unintended creation of a blindspot that can be taken advantage of by skilled pilots. This is due to the targeting systems momentarily locking their weapon and preventing it from firing should a vessel or smaller craft pass behind or in front of the scythe, thus preventing the weapon from accidentally firing upon this structure.
  • Slow and Ungainly - Due to the inclusion of additional weapon systems, armaments, and defenses such as redundant shield generators and armor plating, the Foerost-class is known to be sluggish and incapable of achieving higher rates of sublight acceleration. Additionally, the vessel is also known to be difficult to maneuver and is otherwise incapable of executing more complex maneuvers that other frigates are capable of accomplishing.
  • Sublight Drive Systems - Limited weapon coverage and the location of the drive systems have rendered them vulnerable to sustained focused attacks. Damage to these areas has the potential of crippling the vessel, rendering it incapable of moving or wholly inoperable.
DESCRIPTION
Considered a scaled-down version of the larger Hosnian-class Star Cruiser, the Foerost-class was designed to provide the Galactic Alliance with a dedicated assault frigate that was capable of withstanding prolonged engagements as well as providing support to the larger Hosnian-class. The Foerost-class maintains many of the same design aesthetics as the Hosnian-class, with the main deviation being the inclusion of two additional scythe-like superstructures located at the fore of the vessel. Much like its larger cousin, these superstructures house the majority of the weapon systems, with the lowest sections containing the primary hangar bays and the upper sections housing the gunner stations and additional command decks. Much like its larger cousin, the primary command deck resides deep in the heart of the vessel, protecting it from attack.

Though limited, the vessel is known to be capable of supporting up to two squadrons of Starfighters or Bombers which are often deployed to provide additional support either in engagements or routine patrols. Additionally, the Foerost-class is also capable of supporting a singular support squadron consisting of shuttles or unarmed transports that are often utilized in ferrying personnel or passengers from other vessels, stations, or planets. However, the primary drawbacks of the vessel are largely due in part to its focus on heavier armor and additional weapon systems. This has caused the vessel to be largely sluggish, both at sublight speeds and acceleration, as well as resulting in a less maneuverable vessel. This lack of maneuverability can be seen in the simple fact that it often takes greater distance and time to complete even the simplest of maneuvers that other similarly sized vessels can execute easily.

As the Galaxy remains in turmoil, old powers fall and new powers rise, the Galactic Alliance remains staunchly entrenched in the Core Systems, reaching out to maintain peace and order throughout the Alliance and into neighboring systems. To accomplish this, the Foerost-class was designed to protect unarmed vessels and transports, secure the various hyperspace lanes, and provide the Alliance with a means to strike at an enemy with a heavy blow when needed. Despite its shortcomings, the Foerost-class is more than capable of supporting its larger cousins and providing the Alliance with yet another sturdy tool in its ever-expanding arsenal.
