Flow-walking more like god-modding amirite?

I'm interested on your thoughts on how flow-walking should be used? Or if it should be banned, since it would pretty much be a god-mode since if someone's flow-walking they could predict someone's moves even if they didn't want to use said move.
Another thought I've had is that you could discuss with the other writer, but why would anyone do that, lol? /sarcasm/

And, finishing my little Leafy rant, does anyone in the site that is active actually learned flow-walking? And if so, have you ever used it on PCs and what happened?

Spencer Varin knows it. I have always wanted to learn it, I plan to.

It isn't godmodding if used correctly. You can't use it during PVP but in PVE or to just learn more about the past then it's fine.

The one thing I know is it has to be taught by another PC, an NPC can't teach it last I heard (double check this)

There are a few people that know it on the site, and just like anything else it can be used correctly and responsibly. If you don't use it properly, you will hear about it.

Flow-walking isn't really something you could use in combat, or at least not effectively, because you can't be like 'hey brb we're in the middle of a duel and I'm just gonna predict what you do next'. You could look at the duel beforehand but is that even fun from a writing perspective? To me it's a writing device for plot and the occasional advantage, and I've never seen it and said "hey, wait a minute".

It always sort of blows my mind that contacting another writer ahead of time seems to be a foreign concept to a large majority of people on boards I've been on, but most of the time it avoids 100% of would-be problems.

I should've explained, but of course I didn't mean during a duel, just like you said would be beforehand and then the other writer would be confined to only use those moves/ask for the other person to edit it.

Flow walking can be abused like how you wish to use it. Though there are ways that its not, please research the force power.

We don't ban force powers. Nor do we have a list of force powers. Use it responsibly and respectfully to other writers and you'll be fine.

As noted, Spencer (I've heard) knows flow-walking. One of my characters has been dropped off into developmental hell on the Aing-Tii world and, assuming I decide to write her ever again, might end up learning how to utilize it.

As far as using it on PCs, it's kind of one of those things you don't really use it in combat (Jacen Solo being the exception to this rule) because it's fairly impractical. In general RP, however, I've seen it used to explore PCs pasts and other such events, usually after discussion between writers involved.

It's something I've used with Asha before, one of the only things she does use Force-wise... Solely as a PVE kind of deal.

The way I see it, there are infinite possibilities, infinite "strands", to the future... So even if you happened to "walk" along one of them and see vague impressions of the future... it's not set in stone!

As I say though, that's just the way I write it with Asha... Because I use it solely for Character Development and not as a tool to metagame/understand the future.

Moderation is key with everything. Use Wheaton's Law, keep the board rules in mind, and communicate with your fellow writers!

Just to make it clear, does it have to be taught by PCs, or can it be taught by the monks?
If I do decide that it would be best for Undin to learn it, I'd like to know.

The Aing-tii aren't that friendly with outsiders so unless you work your way into making friends and getting them to actually teach you is a struggle. Best bet is to learn from someone, also provides you with ic connections. Your character is a Padawan, it's a chance for you to obtain a master if you haven't already.

Probably. I'm in SSC as an ally, but not as an active Jedi in their ranks etc etc
