Alyce sat in a comfortable chair along with a handful of others on a stealth carrier out in the middle of nowhere. After helping to rid the galaxy of two ImpStars, she had received an invite that many pilots in the Alliance coveted. To join Rogue Squadron. Without any second thoughts, she had said yes. A whirlwind of activity had her clearing out her bunk and mvoing through several military stations. Several of them were dark stations, things she had never heard of. She was routed through them, then onto a transport that dropped them out here. Now she was taking part in a briefing on an advanced X-Wing, the TR-20. It had stealth capabilities and a host of other advanced abilities. Today they would be taking them out and training with them. Rogue Squadron didn't believe in throwing new pilots into advanced fighters in the heat of combat.

Alyce looked around, reading faces around her. Some were veterans of Rogue Squadron, taking the positions of flight leaders for the training. Others were new, like her, and held the same look on their face that she assumed she held. The Captain at the head of the room cleared her throat and waited for the new pilots to face forward and start paying full attention again.

"As I was saying, we have thirty minutes until the techs have the course fully prepared. Hook up with your flight leaders, and they will give you the rundown." She finished.

Alyce looked down at her pad, she was designated as Rogue Eight. She stood and began to head for her flights area of the deck. There she would meet her trainer.

The time passed swiftly, Alyce paid close attention to the instructions her flight leader gave them, then she got to climb into her new bird. It was sleek, sexy, and deadly. She practically purred as she ran through the pre-flight checks and hooked her flight suits systems into the bird. Once everything checked out, she flew the TR-20 off of the flight deck and into the void.

Thrust shoved her back in her seat as she opened up the throttle. She stayed in formation with her flight, but yearned to put her new fighter through its paces. She wanted to learn the ins and outs of it, to help meld it into her consciousness. As they came upon the training area, a wide grin spread across her lips. Her attention slipped momentarily, and the twitchy-touchy controls had her out of formation for a few tense heartbeats.

"Alright rookies, you are going to fly this course. Your onboard nav computers have all of the information for completing it." The CAG said over the channel. "By numbers, go!" She ordered.

Alyce waited her turn, then blasted forward. She didn't push the ship to its max acceleration, but she closed in on it. The controls were a great deal more sensitive than any other bird she'd flown, causing some near hits on the edges of some flight rings she had to thread through. After a few moments, though, she started to get the hang of it. She banked and rolled through the course, the rings becoming less of a challenge as she went.

Then the rings became smaller. The turns tighter, and sometimes she had to improvise maneuvers to even make it from one ring to the next without breaking the lines. Turning barrel rolls melded not quite seamlessly into high gee vector changes as she focused on the course. After a few klicks of the harder version, she came back into an area of easier rings.

Then her threat monitor began to beep, and she knew it was just one more phase of the training.
