In the workshops of the S.A.T.A. division of Omega Tech Second Baron, First Lieutenant- I mean, First Baron, Second Lieutenant, of the Protectorate, Iron Knight Hache-Khe, paced back and forth, waiting for his contacts to meet him in order to discuss a very important project he had going on.

One he discussed with Lady Protector a while ago and got a green light on

It was time for HK to clone himself!

So there he was, waiting for others to meet him in order to materialize this dream, wearing his ceremonial armor and weaponry, muttering and grumbling to himself like a cranky old being he was. Someone needed a hot oil bath.

Noah walked into the room to hear HK grumbling,he chuckled as he walked in. "You know if you keep grumbling like that you'll turn into a rusty old bastard." Noah said as he sat down in a chair and started to disassemble a nearby OPR-2 and rummage through its systems to see if he could improve on his old design.

Karen followed Noah's remark with the casual entrance of her hips,

"Oh please Lieutenant. He's clearly our other-brother from another-mother."

She paused to touch her lips and smile,

"...Or was it sister? I can never tell with this one. Hehe. ...Oh my 36? Such fashion. I approve."

The Jedi Peacock winked and let the games begin.

"Haha. Yeah, sure. Being around for a couple thousand years makes you a little wacky in the head," Siobhan quipped as she sauntered into the workshop. Considering that it was frankly due to S.A.A.T development that she was still able to walk she should have a certain appreciation for it. As for fashion, her own dress sense was awesome, when she actually bothered to dress up.

The limp in her walk had gone down, but she had still not participated in any field work. Wifey's orders. On the positive side it gave Siobhan more time with her, but she still struggled to find an actually fulfilling role. So when she had heard HK had a new project she had jumped at the chance. She was no researcher, but it sounded interesting, especially if ended up giving Omega Pyre a bigger bang. Besides, she was in charge so she did not need a reason to attend.

Skree hurried in, engineering bag slung over her shoulder like always, just in time to hear @[member="Siobhan Kerrigan"] mention @[member="HK-36"] being "a little wacky in the head." The young Twi'lek failed to keep a grin from snaking across her face, but she did manage to restrain an offer to adjust his circuits - free of charge. It might come across as a threat, and that was the last thing Skree wanted to do - threaten a thousands-of-years-old droid who spent his entire existence, probably, learning how to respond to threats.
The Lead Crewer's amusement turned to happy surprise, before the surprise left - @[member="Noah Corek"] was, after all, an expert in the area of arms. She was here because she knew the basics of circuitry.

HK scanned over them
"Sure, out of all of us here, mess with the one who has a repeater blaster in their forearm."

On the screen behind HK came up his picture in style of Vitruvian Man
"Now that we have all gathered here, more or less, let me talk to you more about the project I have had planned."
The picture multiplied from one Vitruvian HK to five Vitruvian HK's
"We are going to copy my body, and mind, five times, to create a special squad for the Omegas."

He then gestured towards the specialists he had gathered in the room
"It is not too complex plan in its design, so, let me hear your thoughts on the matter."

"And I'm the one who's the ceiling dropper," Siobhan could not resist quipping. She did have a bit of an ego after all. Then HK showed his Vitruvian Man style picture. "'Attack of the Iron Knight clones', coming to a cinema near you this week. Reavers beware, the Exterminator Squad is there," Siobhan spoke with a chuckle. They would totally have to use that name.

" Sounds real useful in the field if they don't take after your cousins," Siobhan said bluntly. She had not forgotten Clockwork after all and back when HK got his new body and his mind was restored one of the fears had been that it might awaken something to make him turn on them.

Fortunately all had gone well and Iron Company had thrown a party for its commander. However, she could see the clear military - and psychological - value of having a squad of deadly Iron Knights running around. "How's that 'cloning' supposed to work? And how autonomous will they be?"

"Oh. ...Oh my."

Karen rubbed her chin in thought.

"I say. Copying a Shard? Surely this is impossible. It might be like, fracturing a soul? Well... I'm not sure you can program a Shard either. Goodness. 36? Are you not a wholly sentient creature? ...How would we even begin?"

For all her creativity, Roberts could not fathom the process. Perhaps she did not understand what 36 really was? Man or machine?

There was one last participant in the room. The Crown Princess herself had come on the Exarch's orders. Ostensibly she was here to help out, but she was also here to make sure no one designed anything...dangerous.
Still, @[member="HK-36"] would have recognised her presence by now, so she approached.

"It all comes down to the nature of the Baron. I have some suggestions from Kaeshana, but it all depends on what our subject is."

"Cousins?"
HK asked looking to Siobhan
"Oh, you mean the Droid Pride Parade, or as some refer to it, the Droid History Month?"
HK quipped at Siobh then glancing to Karen and Anya
"Well, I have been copied before, they established their own identities, but they have also been placed in different scenarios and I was not as advanced in sentience back then. However, the more they were copied, down the line, the less there were differences in identities, I would not be surprised if I was copied right now, it would just be five me's, but just as well, I could expect them to develop their own unique identities through different experience."
HK changed the slide, showing schematics to his body
"There are two steps to this, the first one is the easiest, copying my body, the second, however, is copying my mind."
He looked over those gathered in the room
"My programming is what makes me more advanced than other droids, I can improvise, I can create art, I can calculate outside the box, I have gained this with time and experience, my programming can be copied as any other, however, due to the complex and organic nature it developed, I would not recommend altering it, as we do not know what kind of results that can bring."

Noah had been engrossed in modding the OPR-2 that he had only caught the part about fracturing HK. "Woah, woah,we're doing what? I don't want to fracture you and then the others turn in something like those Clockwork guys." Noah said as he spun in his chair.

Roberts couldn't believe what she was hearing. Standing before her was a Force sentient being that could replicate itself, and it's prowess, like a virus. And it wanted her help? God save the Queen. She was hesitant not to destroy 36 immediately. Would it not be the murder of a soul to do so, she just might have.

"God speaks. If these machines be machines, let them obey. But if these copies be like unto Men? Heavens... Such a heresy is akin to the Black Alchemies. No. Gods no. My religion forbids this. I cannot continue. I must withdraw."

She was practically mortified. Bowing to take her leave.

Skree was silent for several seconds, digesting @[member="HK-36"]'s proposal. Then, she leaned forward in her seat, halfway holding up one hand in a "slow down" gesture. "Okay. I'm not quite sure I understand this...you want to, if I understand this, essentially clone your sentient programming into...four identical replications of you."
At least, I think that's what he's saying. Don't quote me on that, please.

He nodded to Karen when she bowed and made her exit
"I will talk to her later and see what it was about."
He paused for a second looking to others
"She did not thought I was a shard this whole time, did she?"

He took a second to calculate
"Either way, yes, I am thinking about cloning my body and programming. I know for a fact, my programming was copied once already when it was restored, we keep it as a back-up in case something happens to me while I am in my vessel and I can not be revived."
He looked over the others
"I have talked with Lady Protector, and she green-lighted the proposal, so we could either have five exact copies of me, they would be able to go into combat right away, and something like that I would understand, since it might be necessary for upcoming war, or we could erase their memories, with that they are more likely to develop different personalities, but at the same time we need to take time to train them and teach them."

Anya Venari

Anya sympathised with @[member="Karen Roberts"]. She was an Eldorai, and her people had never been very happy with the idea of droids. Part of this was purely technological; they had not reached a level where droids like HK, or even protocol droids, had been built.
Beyond that though was cultural and religious concerns. Culturally, the Eldorai still remembered a past when an invading alien force millennia ago had invaded. These invaders were a strange mix of droid and organic, known as the Kar’zun. Although defeated, it had left an impact in their psyche not unlike Clockwork had to the rest of the galaxy.
Then of course there was religion. The cult of Ashira dictated that machines pretending to be alive were blasphemous heresies and should be destroyed, along with their creators. Anything imitating life in that way was mocking the Great Goddess’ gifts.

Now, Anya had been away for many years, and even before she had been seen as rather radical and liberal. Old patterns were hard to break. Maelion Liates and a single HK was bad enough to make her uneasy. Five more of them…it was life without a Sciia. It was unsettling as a walking corpse.

And yet, Cira had green-lightened the project. Perhaps this wasn’t such a big thing to the people of the galaxy after all? Anya always strove to appear modern and not be a superstitious rube.

“HK…you will of course put some sort of control in them…right? You we know we can…trust. If we make sentient copies of you, and then they make copies…it could be dangerous.”
She hoped she wasn’t looking foolish.

Siobhan did not have the same cultural background as Anya, but she could understand to an extent. She remembered Clockwork - or Droid History Month as HK called it. Red Queen had assumed direct control over the Omega network and turned their own defences against them, an army of droids had almost chased them out of the system.

Now admittedly this had happened everywhere and Siobhan had regarded the 'internal investigation' that had been carried out ages after as absolutely ridiculous, but it had been imprinted into her thinking.

She had come to trust HK and he was certainly more than a machine - after all, he had been the noble one when it came to saving hostages the Bando Gora had threatened to blow up, she had been ready to make sacrifices, though she felt no remorse about it. Maelion was a different matter and she was half convinced Moira was a robot.

"I agree with Princess Anya. I know we don't have to expect Droid History Month from you, but some control on your part would be reassuring. At the start at least," she said softly.

HK nodded once more as those concerns were discussed
"It was something myself and Lady Protector have predicted, and we set up a plan ahead of time."
HK motioned to the slideshow, as the slide changed into specifics of an information database system they have been working on
"All of the droids, including myself, will be connected to wireless database system, the consciousness and memories regularly uploaded to be saved, we will also be equipped with kill-switches and self-destruct options in our power supplies, in case of rebellion or capture by enemy. Access to this system will be given to me-"
He glanced to others
"One droid to rule them all, so to speak."
He turned back to the slideshow
"-The Exarchs and Lady Protector, agreement of two or more leaders will be necessary to activate these switches."

Skree spoke up again. "When you say agreement, do you mean two or more of the switches would have to be pressed at the same time, or that they would have to verbally agree that flipping the big red switch is the right thing to do, but it doesn't have an impact on the actual mechanism?" She asked. Skree suspected the former - or some variant - but she had to ask. Just to be sure.

"One droid to rule them all, one droid to find them, one droid to bring them all and in the singularity bind them," Siobhan quipped, apparently unable to mangle good popular culture references. "Sorry, could not resist. Sounds reassuring. Hope we don't get to the point where we have to flip a switch. Your paintings have become popular."
