  • Ammunition Type: Energy Bola
  • Ammunition Capacity: Average (six bolas, reusable)
  • Effective Range: Average
  • Rate of Fire: High
  • Damage Output: Very Low
  • Recoil: None

SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Unassuming belt with hidden magnetic propulsion chambers, loaded with custom-made energy bolas.
  • With a simple command, one of these bolas can be deployed, wrapping around an opponent.
  • Once wrapped around something, cortosis-weave and a magseal protect it from damage, and ensure it stays on.
  • If within a short range, a laser tether can be activated between the bola and the belt-wearer, connecting them by a line of plasma.
  • Bolas return to their compartments automatically if within a few meters of the belt, ready to be deployed again.
STRENGTHS
  • Surprise Entanglement- This weapon is perfectly designed to get the drop on unsuspecting prey. The bolas come spinning out of hidden compartments on the belt, propelled by a magnetic propulsion system. This speedy deployment, without the use of hands, and coming from an odd angle, can often catch an opponent off-guard, snaring legs together, or arms to the body's sides.
  • Doesn't Cut It- Each tether bola has multiple ways to defend itself from being tampered with. The balls and cord connecting the bolas are made of Cortosis-weave, able to withstand even a lightsaber for some time. In addition, once the bola is wrapped around something, a magnetic seal activates on it, adding another layer of protection to the device.
  • Laser Tether- The bread and butter of this device is the laser tether function. If a bola wraps around the intended target, the user can activate a laser tether between them, connecting the ensnared person to the front of the belt. The connection makes it extremely difficult to move away from the belt's wearer, and while the tether can be held onto and manipulated, it's semi-plasmatic nature makes it extremely difficult to sever, short of a closing blast door or seconds of lightsaber contact. Controls on the belt itself can also "reel" in the target, pulling them closer to the wearer.
  • Easy Retraction- With the simple press of a button, a bola within three meters of the wearer will be recalled to the belt, retracting via magnetic lock to it's compartment. This makes for quick pickup, and even quicker redeployment.
WEAKNESSES
  • Mild Shock- To make room for the laser tether technology, and magnetic systems, these energy bolas have sacrificed their ability to incapacitate through electricity. The worst they will do is give the recipient a slight tingle.
  • Single-Target- As is the nature of bolas, each can only hit one being. In addition, the laser tether can only be active on one bola at a time, even if more are deployed.
  • Tether Range- While the bolas can be shot rather far thanks to magnetic propulsion, to activate the laser tether, the target must be within thirty feet.
  • Hit Below the Belt- While the bola itself is difficult to damage, the belt is not. If one is able to disable the belt on the user, the bolas themselves with cease to function, becoming inert, and much easier to untangle and remove.
DESCRIPTION
As a veteran bounty hunter with an innovative spirit and a focus on technology, Ghorua the Shark has dreamed up many different bits and baubles over the years. This project, codenamed "Fishhook" by the pun-loving Herglic, is one of his more unique creations, constructed to deal with powerful individuals he may face, and their insistence on keeping their from him.

What started as a simple waist-mounted bola caster quickly turned into a versatile capture device. It may seem like a stylish, if not bulky, utility belt, but the Fishhook secretly contains six cortosis-woven bolas, which can activate and twirl themselves at opponents with little more than a word. Once entwining an enemy, a magseal activates on the weapon, making it incredibly difficult to damage. That would often be enough, wrapping arms uselessly to a being's waist, or sticking their legs to each other, but Ghorua went a step further.

Using technology first created for Outer Rim boxing matches, the press of a button manifests a laser tether between the bola and the belt, preventing escape and keeping the target within close range of the wearer.

A powerful tool for a Powertech-style bounty hunter such as the Shark.
