First Reply First Flight of an Enchantress

The hangar bay bustled with activity, a symphony of mechanical and human elements intermingling under the bright lights. Among the array of X-wings, one stood apart – lacking projectile launchers and with a specialized astromech being loaded, this T-65EW - the enchantress, as Vazal called her - was among the first to be activated among the fleet, and Vazal was proud to be one of the pilots taking this new piece of hardware out for the shake down.

Sliding her free hand across the cold metal of the S-foils, the pilot inspected all the little nooks and crannies of the fighter's design, looking at every weld, every thruster, every rectenna, and every maintenance hatch, making sure everything was in perfect order - and that the paint hadn't already been scratched on her brand new fighter. Grabbing the ladder to climb into her cockpit, she nodded to the Astromech as the fighter lifted it from the bottom into the astromech slot. Checking the seals on her suit, the pilot fastened her helmet onto her head - flicking the switch for its HMDs as she did so.

"Systems Check." She spoke into the radio to the flight director as her X-wing slowly came to life, the landing struts raising as the repulsorlifts pushed against the gravity of the planet and the engines began to cycle up to their idling state. The displays in the cockpit and on her helmet all began to light up, showing a smattering of diagnostic data, sensor readouts, and flight statuses. "Avionics Good. Repulsors Good. Weapons show green. EW Components are responsive. Engines are warm. 9-4, everything good back there?" A few sassy beeps came through the radio from her backseater until finally she got an actual answer to her question with an affirmative. "Flight Control, Board is Green. Rev 3 is ready for launch" A few checks came back from the base's controller and finally she got the go-ahead.

Accelerating out of the Hanger and upwards towards space, Vazal made sure to keep out of any starship lanes as she ran the ship through basic atmo maneuvers, then continued on an escape trajectory. Even after all her time with Ari and then with the Revs, she still had to take it all in as the sky became deeper and dark - first a the light blue seen from the surface, then a deeper blue, then almost navy, finally replaced by the star-spotted blackness of space.

As she finally broke free of the Planet and settled into orbit, a ping showed up on her display - Was this her partner on this test, come to put her through her paces, or something else?

It was rare that pilots got asked to do anything and by territory Atrisia was in the space of the galactic alliance... so sometimes they loaned out pilots for various things. The Western Wolves being among their finest helped only a little as Susanoo sat in the cockpit of the Kabaneri Wolf Squadron Fighter. The controls indicating where she needed to be going as the readouts played on the display of her integrated flight suit and armor. The battleframe of the fighter designed to house her for when the fighter needed to enter patrol mode. She used the sticks as it moved quickly with its small profile and activated the advanced drive to send her forward faster with the acceleration as it came up. ANother fighter craft out in the skies when she twisted into a barrel roll to fly past. Her cockpits viewport remaining tinted but she could see out from the AI's displays and information being sent to her.
