First Annual Galactic Games Signup - Join Your Faction's Huttball Team and Compete!

Ladies and Gentlemen,

As discussed in the previous interest-gauging thread in this forum, the First Order will be hosting SWRP's first ever Galactic Games in our capital city of Avalonia!

The Galactic Games will be equivalent in style to the real-world Olympic Games as well as the World Cup. Teams from every faction will compete to try and win the Gold medal and bring glory and prestige to their faction!

In the previous thread, many people expressed interest in performing in various different sports competitions for the Games. However, I have no idea how many players actually plan on participating. Therefore, I have decided that the sole focus of the First Galactic Games will be Huttball. Everyone is encouraged to make a Huttball team for your faction and participate! We want to see as many factions, both major and minor, represented as possible, and we want to compete together and against each other.

But wait, why no other sports? Well, ultimately I felt that trying to do too many sports at once would result in people just playing by themselves and not interacting with others at all. Maybe if this idea really takes off, we can think about including different sports next time. But for now, Huttball encompasses most of the skills people wish to display in the games. Are you an expert duelist? Top-notch marksman? Fast runner? Huttball is an opportunity to showcase all these skills in a friendly yet competitive atmosphere!

What is Huttball, you ask? Well, it's very simple, citizen. There is a ball in the center of the arena, and two teams try to take the ball and drive it to the other team's goal area - by any means necessary. Violence is expected and encouraged. Now doesn't that sound fun?

Rugby in space.. except more violent and an arena filled with death traps. Great fun!​

Again, because I have no idea how many people will be participating, I don't want to overextend. Therefore, each faction's Huttball team will consist of *edit* 3 players. If demand become even greater, then I will think about increasing team sizes.

In this sign-up thread, please post the name of your faction and the name of your character participating. I will make a roster of each faction's teams for Huttball, and then develop a game schedule from there. Sign-ups will last for one week. The Galactic Games will begin next Wednesday, 8/23!

After the release of the final schedule the Zenithians said that they would not be able to find 4 more players; they could at best scrounge up 2 players (me and the faction owner) and hence withdrew their support to have me compete in their name. By now I will play for the Sanctum without fail.

[member="Marzena Choi"] Now just use your FO Ministry of Culture connections to buy a VIP ticket (i.e. first-row) for either the FO or SSC games... rest assured that [member="Darth Carnifex"] will also try to buy one.

That said, [member="Tyyni Oluja"] is an uncertain case for the SSC and, rather than being a starting player the way Valae Kitra or I both are, Tyyni may not be high enough on the SSC depth chart to start in the Games.

But is the huttball tournament round-robin or single-elimination?

I'm not quite sure what you are referring to here. I saw that Tyyni was interested, and if he would like to be a starter for SSC, we would love to have him! It just depends on whether or not he would like to

Hey guys, after hearing your concerns, I have decided to make the following changes to the rules.

The player requirements for making a team will now only be 3 players. This will make it so that more factions can participate, including minor factions.

But what if your faction has more players who want to participate? Not a problem - each faction can sign up as many players as they like. Each player that signs up beyond the third will simply be added to that team's "bench", and can switch with another character into play at any time, at both characters' discretion.

I hope this will encourage more minor factions to participate.

So, I'm also going to be away on vacation this weekend. If possible, I would like [member="Natasi Fortan"] to keep track of the registration until I get back. Then when I get back on Tuesday I'll take over again and work on starting the thread.
