Faction Fireflies in the Dark [Lightsworn]

Kylass had been leaning against one of the wooden pillars inside the hall when Lady Henna Ashina Henna Ashina sprung the trap of the Arkanian’s appointment as training master. A wide blank stare blinked onto her face and her lips bent into a startled frown. Her R9 Astromech companion, Ninez, gargled a laughing melody of beeps and hoots. Kylass looked down at the droid and gave him a swift backwards kick with her heel and that made the droid growl more derogatory binary in reply.

But, now she was put on the spot. Kylass gingerly peaked up her glance to look across the Lightsworn gathered. An unease crept over her spine. She hadn’t trained anyone before. Kylass still believed she herself had much more to learn, and was why she denied a position as Jedi Master within the Sworn Host. On a deeper level, she hadn’t even learned to step outside of the shadowing tide of her Master’s memory; in order to teach someone else. However, she couldn’t stand there and let Lady Henna down. Kylass swept her silvery eyes along the Jedi Lightsworn as she slowly stepped towards the center of the hall. Her mouth was dry and her throat empty of words.
What am I supposed to say? Or teach, Kylass’ thoughts spun.

She looked around and spotted a wall of training bokken sabers, wooden blades fashioned as lightsabers. Kylass smiled. Although she felt her wisdom in the Force was nothing like her Masters, she could at least train them as warriors; prepare them for the duels and outnumbered defenses they would surely find themselves. Raising both her hands she summoned to each of them a short shoto bokken saber and another of the standard saber length. Wielding the two sabers, Kylass looked back to the Lightsworn and gestured for them to grab any bokken.

“My Master was a great Atrisian Bladesmaster,” said Kylass. “When we trained she would ask me to pace about her in a circle and then attack whenever the moment felt right. It was an old Yovshin exercise designed to practice and stress the senses, reflexes, and the reach of your blade.”

Kylass suddenly lowered her body in a deep bracing crouch. She raised both the shoto and long bokken sabers, forming a Jar’Kai ready stance. The shoto bokken was pointed outwards in a forward guard while the long bokken saber was raised above her head, just beside the temple in a perched height threatening sudden attack.

“This exercise…,” continued Kylass. “...is known as Senkōgeki-no-Maru, in old Atrisian. The Circle of a Thousand Strikes.”

Kylass drew in a long breath and then with the Force bellowed an Atrisian Kiai call to begin, HAJIME!
