Faction Fighting Illusions and Magick (Open to RNR)

Dreidi was unsure how the class would go, this was her first time really doing anything with the Royal Naboo Republic. She knew that Aiden, his family and a few other people like Briana and such that she had trained with before were now building something new here. Something that was not the Galactic Alliance. It was something that Dreidi was curious about since she knew some day that she had to find a place that would be suited for training Aileni. The baby was still far from any youngling training but Dreidi had sensed the potential inside him from when she birthed him. The connection his soul had to her father, what that meant, she did not know. But it had instilled her strongest maternal instincts to protect best she could. The witches warned there could be prices to pay for such Magick on a babe, but Dreidi feared the consequences of losing son much more.

If the RNR was a place that would help keep him safe then she owed them a chance to prove that as well as demonstrating what she would offer in return. So, Dreidi decided to start with a class. Set in the dark forest setting where Dreidi could demonstrate the threat that fighting a Dathomiri witch could pose. On her person were the weapons she had that came from being a witch as well as being a Jedi. Her Lightsaber clipped to her belt, her Ichor Sword sheathed to her hip and the bow was strapped to her back. A witch could have all three of these weapons, they could also have others but Dreidi was skilled with these three so made sense to highlight them.

"Well, Grisial, how many do you think will turn up today for the training? Not exactly like we are well known here on Naboo." Dreidi sighed, she wasn't sure if the advertisement of training with a Witch would go down well. "We'll give them an hour before we go play fetch while heading back to rented apartment." Dreidi mentioned to the crystal fox who yipped in a cheery tone. Attempting to counter the concerns in Dreidi with a positive attitude. Which did cause her to grin back to him.

She reached down and scratched behind his ears.

Aiden was pretty excited for joining the class that Dreidi had set up. He hadn't seen her in a few weeks, and since she gave birth to her son. He was more than sure that everything was going well. The lessons that she had offered were essentially right into Aiden's path. The Padawan's constant dreams and such, visions in the night and such. More training to be able to combat those abilities and further increase his mental fortitude.

Light was still shining as he got deeper into the forest however was starting to fade every slightly as the trees seemed to get much closer together.

A few moments later and he could see Dreidi Xeraic Dreidi Xeraic and Grisial. He showed a smile at the sight of the two. "It's good to see you Dreidi. I hope you and the little one are doing good." He leaned in to give Dreidi a hug and then knelt down to pet Grisial.

"Grisial, my friend how are you?"

Lorn leaned against a sturdy oak at the edge of the forest clearing, arms crossed, trying to look like he was just...there. Like any Council member would be, casually overseeing a class of younglings. The truth was, this lesson that Dreidi has planned had piqued his interest and he wanted to learn, but Lorn wasn't about to admit that to a group of Padawans. He had an image to uphold, a reputation for unwavering strength and knowledge. It wouldn't do for them to see him needing a refresher he thought.

He told himself he was checking on the students. He hadn't seen Aiden in weeks, but knew Dreidi was important to him, so he would likely find him here. Then there was young Michael, afraid he had scared the kid with his Force Barrier exercise. And, if he was being honest, he was curious about any new faces Dreidi might have attracted. The Order always needed fresh blood.

But mostly, he just enjoyed the tranquility. The wind whispered through the Naboo trees, a welcome balm after the recent skirmishes. The sun dappled the clearing, illuminating the younglings' focused faces. For a moment, Lorn forgot about appearances and simply let the peace wash over him.

Aron approached the forest clearing with unease, fidgeting with his well-worn, leathered tunic.

The boy's apprehension wasn't so much about the lesson itself—though the witch thing certainly put him on edge—but rather the Foundation's alliance with the RNR. When he left Coruscant, swept up in the revolutionary fervor following the Crimson Veil uprising, and threw his lot in with the Foundation, he hadn't expected to find common cause with a constitutional monarchy, of all things. Admittedly, he was still wrapping his big-ass head around it.

Luckily, there would only be Jedi here today. Not a cravat, or whatever else these Naboo people erroneously called fashion, in sight.

Will you come on?

Cousin Connel. Nice guy, but annoying when he gets into a tizzy. Yeah. I know I’m supposed to be learning this Force stuff, but come on! Can I have one day off? I mean he comes to visit, which is AWESOME as I get to play with Who else but "Buster"? Then he gets mad at me because I’m wanting to go swimming? I mean this place is a resort. I should enjoy it when I can. Right? I couldn’t help this feeling that someone was following us.

I’m coming! What about Buster?

Whistles Buster. Come on, buddy! Yes, you can take the stick with you. That seemed to like the Gallinorese Mountain Aak Dog up as he found a new toy. It was hilarious to watch as I was distracted by it.

Come on, Michael. You’re not going to be late no matter how much you try.

Not my fault your dog is funny… I mean come on. We were in a forest, and it’s beautifu… wait was that a Gungan hiding behind that bush? Naw, can’t be. I can’t shake this feeling someone is following us!

You know, sometimes I think you're just looking for excuses to goof off. Am I THAT obvious?

Me? Never!

Sure, sure. Anyway, let's get going before I have a meltdown.

Fine, but can I keep Buster there?. He needs the exercise! I think I made Connel mad at that one, it was actually funny, but he didn’t answer me. It was a legitimate question though! I mean, have you seen how fat that dog is? Connel just shook his head and kept walking. As we continued our hike, Buster bounded ahead, clearly thrilled with his new toy. The forest was serene, and for a moment, I forgot about everything else. Okay, at this point I am sure someone is following us, but I don’t see anyone! I swear I’m going nuts.

Then we got to a clearing, and Connel leashed up Buster, he… oh I see why. Whoah! Look at THAT pup? What is his name? Spike? Ha!

No, not a dork at all. Hey, this is Padawan Michael Angellus… and he wants to take your class. Doesn’t he?

...yes… I really do, but I don’t like being pushed into this. Oh well, Buster seemed to be excited for some reason. I guess he knows the other doggo? He’s so funny! All hopping up and down, and waggy tail.

Wait! You? I KNEW someone was following us! Howdy Master Porte!! “Howdy Master Porte”? WHAT THE FRELL?

"Well, someone has to look out for you." The Jedi Master said with a small smile as he neared the Padawan and patted him on the shoulder. "And your intuition was serving you well, I'm impressed."

"It's good of you to drag him out Connel"
Kahne said with a small smile. "Dreidi is a talented Jedi, much like her father. There is much you can learn from her." Kahne glanced around at those assembled already, including his son which he gave a smile and nod to. And there was Lorn that he nodded and bowed his head as well.

"Perhaps you can postpone your day of fun until tomorrow." The Jedi said with a wink as he moved forward to greet the rest of the Jedi that were there.

Dreidi gave a hug to Aiden with a polite smile. She was glad that he was doing well and she was sure that she would be seeing more of her friend if Dreidi ended up joining the RNR more and more. Grisial was pleased with the petting that came from Aiden as well, "Aileni is growing every day. I tend to take him on a trip here in the future. Especially if I decide to help out more around here." Dreidi mentioned, she knew that she wanted Aileni to experience as much of Dathomiri culture as he could since it was something that her family had been disconnected from for a couple generations and it was her duty to reconnect it. But there were other cultures that Aileni was going to be a part of that she wanted him know well.

Being around Jedi and her friends was one such thing. So the RNR was a perfect place for them to be.

<<Hi! Doing well! Helping Dreidi with Aileni since the baby is very loud and hates sleeping!>> Grisial messaged Aiden with Dreidi shaking her head towards to the Vulptex. He was such a lazy beast that the early hour crying from Aileni interrupted Grisial's very important sleeping. At least that was what he mostly complained about.

Looking as several students, some Knights like herself, but there was a couple Padawans as well. Dreidi gave a wave to everyone and a warm smile. "Hey, I'm Dreidi Xeraic. I am a Jedi Knight as well as a Witch from Dathomir. Today's class is going to be a little unorthodox in terms of Jedi training." Dreidi grinned as she spoke in a confident but friendly tone, "here is Grisial, he's my companion. Don't mind him, he doesn't bite. He does talk telepathically through the Force so if you hear a voice, that is likely his." She felt it was only fair to give a pre-emptive warning on that to stop Grisial scaring people.

"Force Illusions are something that aren't commonly used in combat, but they can be difficult to counter when implemented." Dreidi stated, giving a brief explanation on the reasoning for the class, "there is also going to be differences in how a Witch would cast such powers in comparison to a Jedi or Sith, so today I will be doing both examples so you get a good idea on how to fight and counter things."

Giving a stretch of her limbs, "so today, I want to challenge you to find the real version of me in the forest. If you want to have a little fun competitive spin on this, first one to find me can receive a prize." Dreidi smirked as she gave a wave of her hand before she teleported far from where the group were.

"Good luck Jedi, let us see how well you spot the illusions of me." Her voice emanated from nowhere but filled the air around them.

The training had begun.

It took some convincing, but eventually Rosalyn was dragged along to attend the class. Albeit, it did take Lorn effectively ‘ordering’ her to go. For as much as she could be stubborn about her hang-ups towards the Force, Rosalyn wasn’t one to disobey an order.

Especially given the fact Lorn was her Commander.

He had framed it in the sense that it would be a good idea to at least learn how to combat such magick and illusions, even if she refused to utilize the Force to do so. Which Rosalyn begrudgingly accepted was indeed a good idea.

Thus Rosalyn found herself at the forest clearing, where the lesson was meant to be taking place. She opted to take a seat at one of the logs that had been clearly placed on the floor for seating.

She watched as people arrived, a lot of unfamiliar faces aside from a couple. Like Aiden Porte for example, who she recognized as a Royal Protector.

Eventually their teacher; Dreidi Xeriac, began the lesson with an introduction. Rosalyn spared a glance when she mentioned her Vulptex companion. She wasn’t exactly keen on hearing anyone speaking in her head, but she was grateful for the heads up all the same.

The mention of a ‘hunting exercise’ did grab Rosalyn’s attention however, to a point she physically perked up. She had no prior experience dealing with illusions, but hunting? Oh that she excelled at.

Once Dreidi had teleported away, Rosalyn did not hesitate to jump to her feet and practically march into the forest that surrounded them.

It was time to test her tracking abilities.

Lorn watched the clearing fill with a quiet satisfaction. Aiden was here, good, he made a mental note to catch up with him later. Michael was present too, looking slightly less timid than the last time Lorn had seen him. He hoped the kid wasn't still dwelling on their last training session, Lorn never meant to frighten him.

Then, he saw her. Rosalyn. He hadn't truly expected her to come, despite his… suggestion. A small smile tugged at the corner of his lips. Maybe she was finally warming up to the idea of embracing the Force, or at least learning its nuances.

Dreidi's introduction was, unconventional. A Dathomirian Witch training Jedi younglings? It was certainly a unique blend, but Lorn trusted her judgment implicitly. The woman seemed brilliant, sharp, and possessed a deep understanding of the Force that transcended any single tradition.

The moment Dreidi vanished and her voice echoed through the trees, a spark of competitive spirit lit in the eyes of the younglings. Lorn chuckled softly. This was going to be interesting.

He pushed himself off the oak, the urge to participate overwhelming his carefully constructed facade of aloofness. "Well then." he muttered to himself, falling into step behind the eager group as they ventured into the forest.

He wasn't going to admit it to anyone, but he was genuinely curious to see if he could spot her illusions. And if he happened to "casually" observe Rosalyn in action, seeing if she was making any progress, well, that was just the responsible thing to do, wasn't it? After all, she was still under his command.

The truth was, the forest was beautiful, and being surrounded by the energy of the Force, emanating from both the trees and the younglings, was… invigorating. He could almost feel the peace settling over him, a much-needed respite from all of his responsibilities.

Briana had arrived quietly, her presence more observational than participatory. She stood a little ways from the gathered students, arms crossed lightly over her chest as she listened to Dreidi's introduction. She had to hand it to Dreidi, choosing to bring them out here into the darker parts of the Gallo Mountains forest was a well chosen idea—effective for the kind of lesson she'd expressed wanting to teach. Force illusions were tricky, not just to cast, but to see through. Even the best Jedi could fall victim to them if they weren't careful, and it would be more even more difficult to discern in the cover of such dense foliage.

They preyed on perception, twisting reality into something believable. It was why Romi had included learning to defend yourself against them as one of the more advanced 'chambers' in her training method, and why Briana initially hesitated when Dreidi approached her on the lesson.

Not because she didn't trust her friend, but because she knew how disorienting a well cast illusion could be, how the effects of it could still linger hours, sometimes days, later. Especially if your mind wasn't strongly guarded, or you found yourself unsure of your place in the Force. The line between what was real and what wasn't could blur so seamlessly that, before you knew it, you were reacting to a threat that didn't exist, or missing the one that did.

Still, Dreidi had assured her the lesson would be tailored to the Padawans' level, and thus Briana had agreed to the lesson and come to observe and help guide, if necessary.

None of her own students were present, though she'd normally insist on their attendance, especially for what could only be an invaluable lesson; but they'd each been through so much recently, that she'd instead made the room to allow them the time to recover. Briana knew that pushing any of them too soon wouldn't make them stronger; it would only wear them down. Make them more liable to make mistakes or other potential missteps.

Instead, she'd escorted a different student here for this lesson, Mellomere Mellomere . The girl had happened upon the Sanctuary after wandering... a great distance away from wherever her family was, which, to Briana, left much to be desired in Mel's parents parenting style — neglectful, was the first term that came to mind. Needless to say, there'd been very little in terms of resistance on the subject of integrating her in with the rest of the students, when the subject had been broached.

Briana hummed thoughtfully to herself after Dreidi vanished.

"Before you all go trapezing through the woods to find Knight Dreidi," Briana interjected, taking a moment to step forward, a brief moment of worry crossing her features when she glanced around to find that the little fish out of water had already wandered off somewhere. "Keep in mind that Force illusions work because they don't just trick your eyes, they trick your mind. You must rely on more than just sight, and in that, the Force is your best tool here. Think of it like wearing a blinding helmet when you're against the remote droid. You have to trust the Force and your innate instincts to truly see — look for inconsistencies—things that feel off, even if you can't immediately explain why." Her arms dropped to her sides, fingers flexing slightly. "Most importantly, don't overthink it. The more you second-guess yourself, the easier it is to get caught in the illusion's web."

She waved her hand and gave a brief nod of her chin, indicating that they were dismissed. "Go on then, hustle!"

Kahne could not have said it any better himself. As he looked to Briana with a proud and true look. When they first spoke, he sensed she had her doubts about her ability to lead or perhaps to be in charge. But it was times like these that showed why she was who she was.

And why the Jedi Master would follow her to the end.

He looked towards Michael Angellus Michael Angellus and to Aiden Porte Aiden Porte both. "You heard her." He chuckled lightly. "Focus, and have patience." The Jedi Master watched as they all ran off after they were dismissed by Briana Sal-Soren Briana Sal-Soren

Kahne took a deep breath as he glanced around and noticed Lorn Reingard Lorn Reingard had fallen in step, he was sure to he wanted to keep an eye on the group as well. The Jedi Master stood by Briana and gave her a gentle nudge with his arm.

"You know Naboo, has had its fair share of troubles. But despite all of that, the future is looking pretty bright." He said with a smile.

Okay, it’s basically a “find the flag”. Dad let me do one of these at a youth camp. It was fun. I mean yeah, I don’t know anything in the Force other than running, jumping and that “barrier” thing Lo… Knight Reignard taught me… little soldiers still hurt…

"Keep in mind that Force illusions work because they don't just trick your eyes, they trick your mind. You must rely on more than just sight, and in that, the Force is your best tool here."... "Most importantly, don't overthink it. The more you second-guess yourself, the easier it is to get caught in the illusion's web."

What? There’s danger?

Oh I am in WAY over my head! I knew I shouldn’t have done this! I knew I shouldn’t have come here! Why couldn’t I learn from Uncle Caltin?

"You heard her." … "Focus, and have patience."

“Focus”? On WHAT? I DON’T KNOW WHAT I’M DOING! I don’t know what to do or how to do it! I’m clearly going to die out here and they don’t care! OH the anxiety is kicking in and no matter how much Buster tried to cheer me up it wasn’t going to work. Wait, Buster? Cousin Connel is still here?

What is wrong with you?! Great, he’s mad at me again.

With ME? You dragged me to a lesson I am NOT prepared for!

Did I? Padawan?

No! You don’t get to play that card right now! I’m not a “Padawan” to your “Knight” right now. We’re cousins! THAT is who I am yelling at! I don’t know anything about the Force other than the three things Uncle Caltin taught me and the one thing Knight Reingard taught me! Now I have to focus my mind on something I don’t even know how to even come close to? What is wrong with this picture? I felt bad for yelling at him. I know he wasn’t mad at me but trying to make a point, but it felt good to get my frustrations out.

Okay… cousin... how did you learn from Father how to jump?

Wha?

Humor me.

Well, I… he told me to feel my legs and grasp them and feel the veins… he told me to imagine them getting bigger and stronger before my eyes and when I was ready to jump?

Uh huh… and what about running? Speed?

Same thing, but running. I had to also imagine getting to my destination fast.

You said yourself you knew someone was following us. It was Master Porte. … I get the point he was making…

... oh… I think I get the point you’re making…

The Force is always talking to you. You’re learning how to listen. Yeah, you’re getting a little crash course, but you’re an “Angellus” and a “Vanagor”... you can do this. You wouldn’t be here if you couldn’t.

Thanks cous’ … and thank you Buster… one last head scratch.

Go! You’re behind! I’m still not sure I’m right for all of this, but at least I get it now. Man, I feel dumb though for making that scene.

Of course I caught a glimpse of Connel picking Buster up and amid the dog’s licks to his face, he looked over at Master Porte and Knight Reingard. I wonder what he said.

Sometimes a kick in the nether region is the best way to go with him. smirk

Since joining up with the Foundation, Aron had plunged himself into the trainings of the Jedi Ronin. Its emphasis on discipline and mental clarity were the hallmarks of a true Jedi. To see through illusions. Both those conjured by witches, and those conjured by chaos, which acted as a veil over the galaxy, distorting its true nature—that history was a never-ending conflict between the haves and the have-nots.

All that's to say, Aron was ready for this lesson. Seeing through illusions was what he did best, or so he thought. As he headed into the forest to confront Dreidi's illusions—and his own mind, as Master Sal-Soren had eloquently warned—he hoped his skills matched his confidence.

This wasn't completely unfamiliar to Aiden, as he did something of a same training with Solenne Abraxas Solenne Abraxas upon their first meeting. This was definitely a different scenario entirely, with her it was in the Corsucant gardens. And here was deep in the forest. The living force was strong here, light filled the air and the cool wind crept through the trees providing a cool environment. The force spoke to him strongly here, he could feel it.

Receiving instructions from Briana Sal-Soren Briana Sal-Soren and his father he took off into the wild. The Jedi Padawan closed his eyes, seeing with force what was and wasn't there. Similar to how he was instructed by Solenne. The force guided his steps, while he moved freely through the area. He drew on a deep breath, the scent of the forest was strong.

He would continue looking, trusting in the force, seeing what wasn't there. The missing pieces in the puzzle.

Rosalyn was hyper-focused as she moved through the forest, all the lessons her father and uncle taught her running through her head. Albeit, those revolved around hunting four-legged creatures, not a teleporting witch.

But logically, unless Dreidi intended to continue the lesson at whatever spot she was hidden at, she wouldn’t have ventured too far away from the clearing. However, there was still the matter of how she conjured her illusions.

Did she teleport to a location, conjure then disperse them out from that spot? Or did she teleport multiple times, leaving an illusion each time?

It was also a question of whether the illusions would remain idle, waiting for someone to spot them. If they were moving around…

An idea struck Rosalyn as she walked, immediately shifting her focus to the ground. She began to examine it as she moved, checking for two sets of prints. That of the witch, and of her Vulptex companion.

Okay, so I’m in the forest, and I’m looking for someone. This was “Survival Training” and moreso, “camping” with Dad, Uncle Caltin, and Connel all over again. Okay. I don’t know enough about the Force for it to matter here, so I’ll just rely on my instincts. I learned well, so I’m not going in completely blind. I can do this.

… except when I trip over a tree root like I did right there.

Okay, what am I doing out here. What do I know? She’s a witch and I can’t trust everything I’m seeing. She teleported… which was really freaky. I think that is what bugged me out initially. She has one of those spikey looking dogs, who looks really cool.

Wait? She has a dog! He might be thirsty.

Look for a river!

I got it!

Living in the deepest parts of the Nubian forest and being wary of those from the outside, Tasia liked to keep herself informed of the comings and goings of the area. So when she had heard that a force user, a witch of Kashmiri descent no less, was coming to her part of the world to teach, she was beyond intrigued. She had made the short hike to the learning spot and watched as others had gathered, some she recognised from her times visiting Theed, others were unknown to her.

As she listened, she realised that the class had already begun and the wonderfully tattooed woman had already begun introductions including introducing the handsome creature that accompanied her.

She pulled her hood down, hoping to show her own tattoos as proudly as the witch displayed hers. She wore light armour and well worn hunters gear that clearly marked her as a woman of the forest and had her kiffar blade across her back. She was far too old to be a padawan, and didn't consider herself one, but having no formal jedi training gave her a thirst for finding knowledge wherever she could.

"Hi, I hope you don't mind me joining a little late." she said bowing her head lightly in respect before taking a seat nearby some other learners.

"May I sit here?" Palpatine asked the nearest person before sitting down. The Witch then vanished before their eyes and challenged them to find her. "This should be fun." she said to the other.

Everyone broke from their seats and started the chase, by the time she looked around the person she had sat next to was gone so she made the decision to go to search and hopefully catch someone else up. She spotted a young man ( Michael Angellus Michael Angellus ) and called out to him as she hopped over a tree root. "Hey, wait up, can we team up?" she asked, pushing away vine out of the way as it swung past the man who searched just in front.

People made their own ways into the forest. Dreidi was pleased to see others work ideas on how to approach the mission. It was something she would incorporate into the challenge. Especially since it gave Dreidi a chance to push the limits of her Magick, to see how well she could do in this mission and interact with others in a manner she had not done so before. Breathing in deeply, Dreidi closed her eyes as she focused on the different locations of the Jedi who were taking part in her training.

Aiden Porte Aiden Porte

From the corner of your eyes, you see Dreidi, stalking through the woods. Her movements attempting to be quiet and stealthy as she holds her energy bow in hand. Clearly readying herself to launch a surprise attack at other Padawans nearby. This would be the perfect opportunity to follow and track Dreidi. Attempt to make sure that this was in fact the real version before you chase her down and claim victory. It would be exactly like Dreidi to seem like she teleported miles away from the location but not even moved far enough to keep out of eyesight. This is your perfect chance to demonstrate your understanding of the witch to your advantage.

Rosalyn Dubois Rosalyn Dubois

Tracking Dreidi through the animal companion was smart. Animals would leave tracks, tracks that would be harder to fake. Harder to use illusions to mimic since it would be Dreidi. Wandering through the woods, you see a trail of pawprints that fit the size of the Vulptex that you saw. It was also heading further into the woods, clearly the creature was attempting to lure people further away. Perhaps guide them on a false trail. But eventually he would be heading back to Dreidi, right? He had to be. Which seemed to be true when you see another set of his prints heading firmly in a direction in a determined path.

Lorn Reingard Lorn Reingard

After the Padawans dispersed into the forest, chasing for all and any signs of illusions as well as the real sightings of Dreidi, the witch would appear near Lorn with a grin on her lips. "Think this will get them running around for a few hours?" Dreidi asked with a chuckled grin, "I mean, would be good to make sure that they tire themselves out before I give them a hint of where I actually am." She reached down and petted Grisial as a thought crosses your mind. Could this be an illusion now? But she talked, she had the Vulptex, she seemed real in this moment...?

Aron Brood

The confident strides of the young Padawan would demonstrate clear desires to demonstrate his abilities to locate and sift through the variant illusions that Dreidi would conjure. What would she go for? Hauntings from his past? Tricks that seemed overly plausible or tempting his mind into believing she was somewhere that she was not. There was a number of approaches that she could take with the training. After a few moments, you would spot Dreidi crouched behind a rock, who would look up and groan disappointedly. "I didn't realise someone would come this way straight away! Damn... Well done in finding me so fast I guess...? Damn, I thought I would have more time to tease you guys with the illusions!" Clearly annoyed with herself.

Michael Angellus Michael Angellus and Tasia Palpatine Tasia Palpatine

The two young learners teaming up would spot the fleeing figure of Grisial. The Vulptex was making his way towards a river and likely trying to hide his scent to prevent others using the Vulptex scent to find Dreidi. If you were to catch Dreidi, following Grisial and making sure you don't lose sight of the Vulptex. She was unlikely to keep the companion that far from where she was and he was likely attempting to help her in distractions and misdirections as well. But this sneaky Vulptex hadn't see you two yet, he didn't know that you would be on his trail, so now was your chance!
