Faction Fighting Illusions and Magick (Open to RNR)

It did seem too easy, the vulptex stood beside the water apparently unaware of their presence. She whispered back to the other leaner "I'm not sure, I might try to slip a little closer." the woman put her fingers to her lips and issued forth a sigh of breath that was almost like the wind and her force presence seemed to evaporate into the background noise of the forest. She moved almost silently, the force user had been hunting in these forests since she could barely walk. With so little formal training there was very few skills that she felt mastery over, luckily the hunt was one of them and she would use that skill now.

She skulked closer to the creature and she reached out to its mind to see if there was a presence that reached back, it was apparently smart and telepathic so she put out of her mind exactly where she was so he couldn't trace her hiding spot slightly downwind of him, but she just sent a small greeting. She would ping his mind and hope it pinged back. If it did, they could follow it back to Dreidi.

Lorn watched the group of Padawans disappear further into the woods, their excited chatter fading with the distance. He let out a small exhale, the tension he hadn't realized he was carrying easing slightly. He wandered a little further, keeping an eye on another set of Padawans, their laughter echoing through the trees. They seemed to be genuinely enjoying themselves, caught up in the game.

He closed his eyes for a moment, letting the soft breeze wash over his face. It was… peaceful. A rare moment of respite. He could almost push aside the endless reports, the political maneuvering, the weight of his responsibilities. When he opened his eyes, Dreidi was standing beside him, Grisial nestled at her feet.

Immediately, a flicker of doubt crossed his mind. Was it really her? She certainly seemed genuine, her grin mischievous and her presence… substantial. But Dreidi was a Dathomirian Witch, after all. Illusions were her specialty.

"I hope so. We could stand for a relaxing night with them tired out." He watched the group ahead, their youthful energy infectious. "It is good to see them out having fun though. This was a great lesson, Dreidi." A genuine smile touched his lips. It was good for them, a welcome break from the rigid structure of the Temple.

He turned his gaze back to Dreidi, scrutinizing her with a subtle intensity. He reached out, almost hesitantly, and gently stroked Grisial's soft fur. The Vulptex seemed real enough, its fur warm and alive beneath his fingers. He looked up at Dreidi, his expression unreadable.

"So how would one be able to tell if this were an illusion?" He asked, his voice low and even. It wasn't an accusation, but a genuine question, a desire to understand the intricacies of her craft. He was curious, genuinely so, about the subtle nuances that separated reality from illusion. He needed to know, not just for himself, but for the sake of the Padawans. He couldn't afford to be fooled, not by anyone.

The blue-haired sniper had her nose to the floor, though not in the literal sense. She had quickly picked up on the series of small paw print-like tracks in the dirt. And while her father and uncle hadn’t taken her to every part of Naboo’s forests, a lot of areas shared commonalities between them.

Namely the type of small fauna that were known to frequent the region at this time of the year. Of which a Vulptex was most certainly not amongst that list.

The fact the witch’s companion was heading further away from the clearing, wasn’t missed by Rosalyn. It made her ponder if this was the correct course of action. Because of course, Dreidi would’ve thought ahead that some of them might go ‘old school’ with trying to track her down.

But she was stubborn, and was determined to see this though a bit longer. Which did indeed seem to pay off, as the tracks suddenly veered off into a different direction. The question was however, if Grisial was indeed just randomly wandering around to waste time, how long would it be before he returned to Dreidi?

Briana chewed at the inside of her cheek and hummed thoughtfully to herself as she watched the students scamper off.

She wasn't sure if she shared Kahne's enthusiasm for the future looking brighter. That was too elusive, too uncertain, and if history and her own track record proved anything, then... Briana shook her head, willfully pulling herself from out of the spiral threatening to suck her down.

"Maybe," she acknowledged with a sigh, unfolding her arms and letting them settle at her sides. "I don't know." She pressed her lips together, waiting until all of the students were well out of earshot before choosing to elaborate any further. "Every day, I feel more unsettled than at peace. Like we're trying to make it another day, fighting to get to the other side without losing any pieces along the way... that moments like these are nothing more than false reprieves."

From the corner of your eyes, you see Dreidi, stalking through the woods. Her movements attempting to be quiet and stealthy as she holds her energy bow in hand. Clearly readying herself to launch a surprise attack at other Padawans nearby. This would be the perfect opportunity to follow and track Dreidi. Attempt to make sure that this was in fact the real version before you chase her down and claim victory. It would be exactly like Dreidi to seem like she teleported miles away from the location but not even moved far enough to keep out of eyesight. This is your perfect chance to demonstrate your understanding of the witch to your advantage.

And so it was seen, potentially seen from a quick sideview his friend was seen however, his eyes could've betrayed him. Trust in the force, that was his true ally and true sight. The Jedi Padawan knelt down briefly closing his eyes for a few brief moments before he caught glimpse through a nudge in the force. It was an aura, an instinct as he looked up and moved forward again. Pushing through the trees difficult terrain, he could hear the sounds of others in the distance as the voices travelled farther through the forest.

Aiden slowly came to another stop as he glanced around forested area, taking in the next bit to locate Dreidi Xeraic Dreidi Xeraic

Aiden Porte Aiden Porte

You trekked forward, following the presence in the Force where Dreidi's presence seemed the strongest. The Witch had been tricky where she felt to be everywhere at once, that her location was multiple places but there was one concentrated area where Dreidi was lighting up more than the others. The Witch was also notorious in play mischief and causing trouble so her visual presences were never going to be concrete proof of where she was. The trail led away from the starting position as you continue to move forward, feeling the presence of Dreidi getting stronger.

"But Aiden, what if I'm guiding you to where I want you to go?" Dreidi's voice was a whisper in his mind, "illusions are made with the Force, I could pretend lower my presence to enhance an illusion's presence with the Force, couldn't I?" The voice attempting to cast doubt into the mind of the Jedi Padawan as he moved trusting in the Force.

"Or am I saying that because you are getting close? How do you prove it is me? Do you try to destroy my illusion?" Dreidi continued to whisper, hinting at the difficulties in proving what is an illusion and what is not.

As you continued to follow the tracks, the forest seems to shift, fog creeping in. The tracks disappearing before your eyes as the once familiar forest of Naboo seems to shift and become somewhere you have no recognition of. Reality warping around you as you move. The Witch clearly deciding to warp not just her presence with illusions but completely derail any chance of tracking her with a full warping of your mind. Turning what was a familiar setting into one that you no longer recognise.

"Tracking reality works when reality remains real. What will you do when it seems your physical vision has been tricked? When your actual senses were targeted? How will you track and find me now?" Dreidi's voice had a teasing laugh, curious to see how the sniper would push through this. Curious to see what tricks she could use to escape the reality that Dreidi was creating around Rosalyn.

Voices calling in the distance, encouraging Rosalyn to come towards them. Telling her to come home but they were not the voices of her parents, not of any family Rosalyn had. But call her home they did.

Nodding her head, "I dread the day my child has energy like that. Dathomir is not a home for random running around and exploring. Not like Naboo at least." Dreidi stated, looking with some concern in her expression and voice.

When asked about how would one tell if she was an illusion or not, Dreidi giggled, "suspicious of me already Lorn?" Dreidi asked with a smirk on her lips. "There are a couple ways that one could tell. I mean, strike me down and illusion would just shatter, they are not living beings so they cannot take damage like a being can. However, I would rather you not try that with me."

"Of course, an illusion can't replicate things that are impossible for the person to do or act, and sometimes illusions are based on memory. Like I couldn't create a replica of your mother for instance since I have no clue on how she looks." Dreidi mentioned as she allowed the Magick to shift through her fingers.

"Do I seem like an illusion to you Lorn?"

The Vulptex lapped at the water, drinking it with great gusto and making a bit of a mess while doing so. Grisial had clearly been keen on some water while waiting for the lesson to begin. Heading straight here after being teleported away. It seemed like an opportunity that was too good to pass up. As Tasia got closer, reaching out to Grisial, the Vulptex lifted his head and looked over to where the woman was hiding. Her attempts to ping the mind of the creature revealing exactly where she was in response. Grisial's eyes glint with mischief as he turned and leaped across the river to the other side of the bank.

In the distance there seemed to be a visage of Dreidi who was walking into the shadows.

"Be wary of revealing yourself when tracking prey, connecting minds tells us where you are just as much as it can tell you where we are." Dreidi stated in a voice that seemed to fill the mind of Tasia and Michael. "Question for you now, do you commit to tracking me across the river, or do you try searching for another clue? Who knows if that was the true Vulptex?"

Striking at the morality, she was curious to see if the pair would continue with their hunt or if they would give it up.

In a puff of smoke, the appearance of Dreidi Xeraic and Grisial appeared to Briana and Kahne. There was a clear grin on her face as she was enjoying the chaos that she was creating with her many illusions. It was definitely going to be a lesson that would tap her out for the day. It was a tiring work to spread her illusions out and make them as convincingly as she could. There was only so much the Witch could do with her Magick but it did seem that she was capable of creating a few tricks and get into some mischief.

"Our bold leader already holding doubts on the future? That doesn't seem a great start for us." Dreidi joked as she looked over to Briana, "just remember, that even in the darkest hour, there is always going to be a glimmer of light. We can be that shining light in the face of overwhelming odds." Dreidi mentioned, it was something her father spoke of often. He always believed that no matter how dark things got, there would always be a small amount of hope to get them through things.

Looking around at the various students training and learning about illusions, "they are a bright much. And that's what we are here to do, right? We aren't just teaching them how to fight, survive and kill. We are here to teach them how to live, how to have fun. Sometimes we can forget the second part when focusing on the former."

Okay, HOW DO THEY DO THAT! If you are reading this, Master Porte (Which you shouldn’t be! This is MY journal! You pervert! Haha Just kidding, I don’t know if you are one or not, not my business. Unless it affects me, but you’re a Jedi Master, would you really be one?)

Where was I?

Oh yeah! How do people talk in my head! I feel nuts! I have voices in my head. I need to learn about this as it’s freaky, but it’s kind of cool at the same time.

Did you hear that? Why am I asking that? I’m sure she did. I’ll follow your lead on this, if you want but my dad taught me about what she’s doing right now. This is a “False Flag”. She’s… “they’re” trying to send us another way because we caught them. I’m not aware of too many things, I know what I know if you know what I mean…

… someone should turn that into a song…

Tasia a shook her head, of course a sapient target was a much more complex for than something she might track for food. She was confident thought that it was the correct Vulptex, an illusion would have had nothing for her mind to connect to. "They are both telepathic, it's her voice you are hearing in your head... have they not..." she didn't finish her question, she was suprised that the man hadn't known about telepathy but she had never flown a starfighter, they all had their gaps.

"You are right, the creature knew I was connecting with it, it would be foolish for it to immediately run to its master. Any ideas?" she smiled and gestured that he takes the lead tracking for a spell.

A little confused, I mean I said I would follow her lead, but maybe it’s because I brought up the “False Flag” she wants to listen to. That would be a first, everyone here thinks I’m some sort of goofball. Crazy, right?

Right?

RIGHT?

Oh yeah, you can’t respond to this…

I guess I am one.

I think we should still follow the thing. Thing? That’s mean! I mean the little guy. Follow him but keep a distance. If we keep our senses open, we can watch out in case it isn't a trick. It makes sense, I mean every test we take in this place is an attempt to kill us, but I can try to face it on my terms right?

RIGHT?

Lorn scratched his beard, a slight furrow in his brow. Dreidi certainly seemed genuine, and Lorn wanted to believe it, but something about illusions always tripped him up. He was a straightforward man, and such trickery often went right over his head. "Well, if you're not some kind of elaborate illusion," he chuckled softly, "then I have to say, I'm impressed. Truly."

He subtly reached down, his hand subtly trying to inch towards Grisial to see if they were truly here. He hoped the movement seemed casual enough, adding in a bit of distraction with his words. "You know," he continued, his voice thoughtful, "it just occurred to me... Naboo could be a wonderful place for the Aileni. A fresh start, perhaps? It's a beautiful world, peaceful, a great place to raise a child. And with your talents, I'm sure the Order would welcome you with open arms. Plenty of opportunities here."

"Every day, I feel more unsettled than at peace. Like we're trying to make it another day, fighting to get to the other side without losing any pieces along the way... that moments like these are nothing more than false reprieves."

"You know, after I turned twenty-five I began to ask myself that after every battle. And I have been through an obscene amount. Every attack, whether it be by the Sith, Imperials, bounty hunters or anything else. I would ask myself would it every truly end......" The Jedi Master showed a small comforting smile as he placed a hand on her shoulder giving her a good notion of support.

"It may not seem like it now, but things will get better. We must look to each other and to ourselves to see us all through."
