Nate grinned when Kay sent her ball of white light to surround Hawk. That was a brilliant move on her part. Using the light to defeated the darkness.

The amulet sent waves of pain, fear and terror through it connection to Hawk. Hawk grimace and moan in pain out loud breaking the quiet in the medical center. His hand formed a fist.

The tendrils of black lightning was still getting through. Kay clenched her teeth as she deepened her focus, strengthening her ball of light to burn even brighter, almost like a sun. She enlarged it and worked on pushing the black lightning back so that Hawk would just be out of it's reach. Beads of sweat began forming on her forehead as she furrowed her brows in concentration. "Help me push the pain away, Hawk. Force it to let go of you so that you can heal.."

Jewel glances at Doc. It bothered her to hear Hawk in agony. She wanted to comfort him. Doc restrain her hand from touching him. Doc didn't want the Jedi to be interrupted. Whatever they were doing was working.

Wave after wave of pain crashed into Hawk. He heard Kay urging him to fight. Kay couldn't do it all by herself. He had to help her. He pushed the pain away from him allowing Kay bright envelope him.

Once Hawk started fighting. Nate slowly broke his connection to Kay. He didn't want Hawk to sense his presence yet.

She felt Hawk helping her and it seemed to be working. So she brightened the ball of light to that of a sun, causing her to squint, even though she wasn't seeing with her own eyes. Kay enlarged the ball of light too, even allowing herself to be under it's protection. Better safe than sorry.

The connection to the amulet was strong but the force was stronger. A temporary barrier was formed between Hawk's mind and the amulet. A permanent one would be impossible with the amulet still existing. For some reasons, the amulet has chosen Hawk to be it bearer. It won't rest until it around Hawk's neck again.

Hawk's mind and body goes into a healing trance.

"He is out of danger now." Nate tells the others.

Kay was so glad to see it working at long last. But how long was she to keep the barrier up for? She just kept her focus on it for as long as needed, or at least until she passed out. Whichever came first. Creating something was one thing, while sustaining it was another.

"Kay..let go. He is out of danger now." Nate says whispering in her ear. "He is in a healing trance. It is alright.." Poor girl was going to exhausted herself. They still needed to get away from Jewel and the pirate crew,

He didn't like they way that girl kept looking at her watch. SomethIng was up.

Hawk's body began healing itself. It worked on the infection in the stump and lower his body temperature to normal.

Kay opened her eyes, releasing her focus slowly. She removed her hand and wiped the sweat from her brow with her sleeve. "I could use some tea...that always helps." She offered Nate a small smile, glad that she did well enough for a first try at that technique.

"You deserve it." Says Jewel. She didn't quite understand what happen but she grateful that Hawk was doing better. She pulls out her com. She order a crewmen to bring up some tea and sandwiches.

"Let's take care of you know." Doc said to Nate. Nate sat down on a bunk allowing Doc to examine him. "Your in pretty good shape considering just getting out of carbonite.

Kay smiled a little at Jewel as she asked for both tea and sandwiches. "Thank you." She then sat back in a chair and waited, all the while watching Doctor Hutchinson and Nate. Maybe he's a healer too.

Doc finishes his examination. "Try not over do it for a couples day." Nate nods his head. He knew how far he could push his body. The doctor was just being over cautious. "Thank you Doctor. I will remember that."

A crewman wheels in a tray filled with food and tea, Jewel dismiss the crewman. "Please help yourself." Nate pour a cup of tea for Kay. He bring it to his nose smelling it. It smelled wonderful. He didn't detect any poison or sleeping portion. He hands the cup to Kay and a sandwich to her.

Kay smirked as both Hawk and Nate had been given the same instructions by the Doctor. She wondered if both of them would ignore it. How far did the stubbornness go down the family tree?

She took the tea, ever so grateful to have it. "Thank you." She sipped it first, savouring it's warm as it went down her throat, before taking the sandwich from Nate and having a bite. Kay chewed and swallowed before speaking. "I could use some rest myself. It's been quite the ordeal."

"Sure, let me show me you to a room where you can rest." Said Jewel walking toward the door expecting Kay to follow her. Nate steps in front of Kay. "No, we all stay together. There is enough room."

Jewel raises an eyebrow. "She needs a comfortable bed and shower." Nate crossed his arms. "No. She will stay here with us. Kay go lay down." He said in a commanding tone.

Kay had just taken another bite of her sandwich and was in the middle of chewing it when the arguing started. She raised a brow and finished her mouthful before she spoke. "But...I haven't finished eating yet..."

She watched the two of them. Was Jewel going to try to capture her as Nate was captured? Surely Jewel wouldn't break her word about stopping.

Jewel rolls her eyes. "Fine. You all can sleep here together. Just thought she would be more comfortable in her own room away from you men." Nate narrow his eyes. He didn't believe Jewel. She was trying to separate them. "She will be fine. If you are worried about her comfort. Have them bring extra pillows and blankets."

Nate glances at Kay. "You can finish eating. Sorry about that. I didn't want you leaving with her."

Doc was frustrated with all this arguing in the medical center. "Jewel..just leave it. I would like to monitor them..medically that is. They all need to rest."

Now it was Kay's turn to grow suspicious. She glanced over to Nate and Jewel, then the Doctor, before looking to her sandwich and tea. Was it safe? Nate at least thought so with the tea. So she took a sip of it, though she wasn't quite sure if she was hungry at the moment. "I could at least use a good night's sleep. Extra pillows and blankets would be nice..." She guessed that they'd be taking turns when it came to sleeping, just to be sure that they were all kept safe.

"Fine. I give up." Says Jewel. She has a crewman bring extra blankets and pillows. "I will be back later to check on things." Jewel walks out of the medical center. She had to make contact with King and let him know that they were delayed. She still hadn't figure out what to do about her guests.

Nate was relieved that Jewel left for the moment. He leans against the bunk. "I'll take first watch. Get some sleep Kay while you can."

She finished off her tea, a little sad to have had to rush it. The sandwich she'll keep for later. Kay set it and the empty cup aside before grabbing the pillows and blankets, picked out a bed and prepared it. She didn't like medic bay beds very much, but beggers couldn't be choosers. After crawling in, she looked over to Nate. "Don't let me sleep too long. Of course the last time I said that to Hawk, he ended up locking me up inside of his ship while he took off to fight a Sith..." Kay gave him a smirk before she got herself comfortable in the bed and closed her eyes. It was time to try to get some much needed sleep.

"Yeah He was like that when he was a little boy." He says with a smile. Nate watched over Kay for a moment while she slept while having some tea and sandwiches. He was had starving since coming out of carbon.

Doc fussed over Hawk for a moment checking his vitals. "He's in stable condition now." He tells Nate. Nate nods and sits down next to Hawk's bunk.

Hawk slowly came out of the healing trance to fell asleep. He didn't dream of the amulet or feel it call to him. Kay's barrier was holding.

It took a bit, but she eventually fell asleep. Though she didn't dream at all, or at least didn't dream of anything that she could remember. She was just tired and let herself rest.

Some time later she woke up, not knowing how much time had passed. Kay opened her eyes and yawned as she looked around the room. "Your turn Nate.."
