Old Coruscanti Childrens Tale.
Teenagers, always it had to be teenagers who defied the wisdom of seeking that which should not be sought. Emboldened by tales of the monster that haunted the woods they tried to seek it out, to find it or to party. That was what they liked, to party where no one would disrupt them. They never headed the warnings of their elders, the myths and stories were never real to them it was always just to scare them into good behavior.
The glowing embers of their fire announced their presence to what they had not sought or believed existed. It watched them with the billows of darkness surrounding it, enveloped in the cloak of the force that would hide it from their unbelieving gaze. Its head cocked as it watched them, five of them two males and three females. It was interested in them, it would watch them and it would feed on their fears as they were enveloped in the folds of the waking nightmares that washed upon those that its gaze was caste upon. It smiled under the festering folds of its mask, it needed repairs and they would provide the mortar and flesh.
It reached out with its clawed hand, the surgically implanted talons waving as it summoned the energies it had found. The teenagers laughed and drank as the fog began to roll over their joy, one of them mentioned having to use the privy and departed into its home. It smiled as it moved unseen by the teenager and it giggled lightly as he saw it. The teenager looked around “ Jellaca is that you?” it asked to the wind. It giggled as he lurched towards it allowing the shadows to drop as it extended its palm towards the being and blew a cloud of dust into the teens face. “ Fear” it said as it disappeared again.
Reality warped for the teen as he saw the trees grow angry and reach for him, shadows danced in the palid moonlight. He screamed and started to run deeper into the woods as it stalked him, laughing all the while. It threw its voice in all directions as the teen ran, huffed and puffed to catch his breath. It grabbed at its hand and raked its flesh with its claws drawing a cascade of crimson liquid forward. It smiled as it dropped the shadows and used the energy to cast images into the teens mind of it. Its face withered and writhed with larvae and its body bleed and squirmed as the boy let out his keening screech and clutched at his chest as it reached for him with jagged hands.
The crimson ebbed from the teens face as he clutched at his chest and slumped over, heart pumping no more. It smiled as its head went back as he relished the fear, the waking nightmare that had caused the fatal reaction in the teen. It grabbed the body by the leg and began to drag it deep into the darkness while it could hear the teens friends coming. To early to spoil its meal with their discovery of its first prey.
