Description:
The FCHF-37 was designed and built with primarily offense in mind. The fighter boast weapons capable of long range (Fighter scale) combat. The incorporation of the heavy lasers was a nod to the Star Viper design of old that was put to use mostly by private parties and merchant fleets.
The ship is designed for one pilot and comes equipped with landing struts. The ship is not hyperdrive capable and due to its size can not hold enough fuel for sublight travel for extended periods (3 days slow burn). Due to this fact it is usually best utilized as a station/planetary Defense ship or as a part of a large capital ship's fighter compliment. Due to engine output and energy consumption the deflector shield only extends around the cockpit of the gunship leaving the large weapons attachments undefended against attack. The strong hull can protect against moderate debris and micrometeors but dedicated attacks are likely to have serious effects.
The ship was also designed with no targeting computer, which means pilots would need to combine the use of visual observation and standard sensors to engage a target. While this would not be serious for more veteran pilots new pilots may have difficulty.
The ship also comes with a repulsor landing ejection seat, survival kit, and emergency distress beacon in case a crash does take place.
The real appeal to the ship is the heavy weaponry which would be strong against enemy fighters, dropships, freighters, and most unshielded ground targets.
