How the Stock Market Works
Mechanics

• Purchasing shares drives the share price higher.
• Selling shares pushes the share price lower.
• All share prices are refreshed at the end of each trading day.
• The table at the top shows the current basics. For full details, your personal holdings, and updates when new companies join the exchange, check the live tracking sheet (linked in the main market thread).

Transactions

• Buying shares: Transfer the exact total cost (Number of Shares × Current Share Price) in Underworld Credits to Chinave Havat , the official Market Bookkeeper. Once the credits clear, your shares will be added to your portfolio.
• Selling shares: The Bookkeeper will send the proceeds straight to your account after applying a 15% brokerage fee.

Key Trading Rules

• Only one order is allowed per post. (Example: You can buy 50 shares of TFP in one message, but you cannot buy TFP shares and sell PH shares in the same post.)
• You cannot sell more shares than you currently own.
• You cannot buy out an entire company's available shares in a single transaction.

Daily Trade Caps

• Each company has a trade cap, the maximum number of shares that can be bought or sold in one market day.
• If an order exceeds the cap, only the allowed amount is processed and the excess is refunded. (Example: TFP has a 250-share cap and 230 shares have already traded today. You submit an order for 30 shares → only 20 shares are filled, and the remaining 10 shares' credits are returned.)
• Orders are handled first-come, first-served, so check the current traded volume before posting to avoid partial fills.

Upgrading Trade Caps

• Company owners can pay a monthly fee in Underworld Credits to raise their daily trade cap and unlock greater volume potential:
  • Bronzium Tier — 400-share cap: 5,000 UC/month
  • Chromium Tier — 600-share cap: 9,500 UC/month
  • Aurodium Tier — 800-share cap: 19,000 UC/month
• Higher caps give companies more room for rapid daily growth compared to lower-tier firms.

Market Trends

• Market trends add excitement and unpredictability by shifting prices up or down. Some affect individual stocks, others impact the entire exchange. Here are the active trends:
  • Consumer Confidence (Positive / Negative)
    • Three straight days of high volatility triggers Negative Consumer Confidence → sharper price drops.
    • Three straight days of steady growth triggers Positive Consumer Confidence → slightly faster price gains.
    • Upgrading a company's trade cap tier also grants Positive Consumer Confidence.
  • Bear Market If 4 or more stocks fall in value on the same day, a Bear Market hits and every stock loses value.
  • Bull Market If 5 or more stocks rise in value on the same day, a Bull Market kicks in and every stock gains value.
  • Rally After 3 or more consecutive days of declining prices, a stock may experience a Rally and see a strong upward surge.
